  1. Yes, I could definitely see a few trades by Benning at the draft. He likes to accumulate assets then upgrade or get the players that fit his vision better, sometimes using the newly acquired assets. Like he did with Clendening and Bonino to get Sutter. I don't know if Rodin is in their long term plans, but Benning recognizes his value hence the upcoming contract negotiations (heard on 1040 earlier). I wouldn't be surprised if Rodin was traded at this upcoming draft.
  2. Yeah, Myers just dwarfs everyone around him. Like Tram will.
  3. ^ This picture puts things in perspective. Big Tram is as big as all of mother Russia!
  4. Sounds like Dmitry has a Canuck logo tattooed to his heart. One of the advantages of drafting and developing your own players.
  5. The Canuck crease will no longer be a free parking zone.
  6. He is definitely trending up. Now if we can only ease our mind concerning his shoulder.
  7. That's fair. I suspect though, that you will get more examples of Jake's good hockey sense soon enough.
  8. Ahh, I see. Makes sense. He definitely is nothing like a Sedin.
  9. Didn't this goal by Jake against Calgary show good hockey sense? Some people here thought he had poor hockey sense. "In short, hockey sense means being one step ahead of the play. It’s about going to where the puck will be, and reading where your team mates and opponents will be. Now that we have a better understanding of hockey sense, lets learn how we can develop it."http://howtohockey.com/hockey-sense-yes-you-can-learn-it/ Virtanen must be a fast learner if he started this season having poor hockey sense.
  10. The Canucks must have strongly believed in Demko's abilities, commitment, and character before investing a high pick on him. Knowing enough about Demko, enables the Canucks to draw up a specific plan for him. A specific plan for him, requires knowing his developmental progression and his commitment. I think the Canucks are quite confident about Demko's future. Benning has mentioned the succesion plan for his goaltenders a number of times. One of the first things he secured was a number 1 goalie to mentor our young goalies. Benning likes to have a mentor and an apprentice for his goaltending duo. They have Demko sign this year and play in Utica next season while Markstrom splits the goaltending duties with Miller. The following season a back-up position opens up when Miller leaves as UFA and Markstrom takes over as a number 1 goalie. It's all been planned out. Demko is the Canuck's "goalie of the future" (after Markstrom).
  11. No. But our home record is below 0.500. So, since the majority of our remaining games are at home, we probably stay at the pace we have been all season. That's around 0.500 which will give us a total of 82 points after 82 games. Way below the 95 points or so needed to make the playoffs. This assumes we don't go in any long winning streak. But since we are the only team in the NHL who hasn't had a 3 game winning streak or better, I doubt this happens. Even if you believe we break our trend and get hot, we have to catch and pass 3 teams. In short, we have to get hot (unlikely) and all three of Minny, Arizona and Colorado have to stay cold (likely one will break out of their current funk) for us to make the playoffs. In other words we wont make the playoffs. Which is too bad because playoff hockey is the best hockey.
  12. The playoffs was out of reach as soon as we got home from that successful road trip near the end of January. Once we had more games left at home than on the road, we were in trouble.
  13. Don't know where Tryamkin's level of development is at, but I can see the Canucks bringing him in slowly like they are doing with Virtanen and McCann.
  14. Yes, some peoples' expectations for immediate success for Jake is puzzling. If Jake was projected to have immediate success, with his skill set, he would have gone top 2, right behind Ekblad, I feel. Someone actually questioned Jake's motivation? I thought that was a strong point of his. I was wondering why he wasn't hitting as much. He must be adjusting. This second highlighted part made me recall Chris Kreider's game against the Canucks recently. His speed and strength...just a sight to behold. He seemed unstoppable. Then there was an opportunity to run over a Canuck and he delivered a bone rattling check. Makes me drool just thinking about Virtanen's game in the future. It is going to be worth the wait.
  15. Wow. Almost that magical 2 PPG scoring pace!
  16. I will never believe what Darren Dreger has to say concerning the Canucks.
  17. Yea I would love it if Gaunce used his big body more. But just because he is not consistently playing like a power forward and moving around quickly does not mean he has poor work ethic.
  18. Yes, like most prospects, Gaunce needs to be more consistent. The Canucks are recasting Gaunce from a center to a left winger. This has forced Gaunce to change his game. They feel he is better suited as a winger and also want to change his mindset. They want him "playing that quick power forward game, winning puck battles, going hard to the net, using his shot". I don't think Green and the Canuck's are unhappy with his work ethic. They just want him to change his style of game and be more consistent.
  19. Didn't mean to overstate the "little nagging injury". Just wanted to point out that Green felt that it was a factor affecting Gaunce's play. Your original post did not contain this but only his slippage in play which seemed misleading.
  20. Thank you for posting. I enjoy hearing from our propects.
  21. Green also said it was probably because he was suffering from an injury.
  22. I agree totally. His intensity is more noticeable off the ice. He does not let off on this intensity on the ice. It is just less noticeable, because like you say, the intensity happens inside Guance's head.
