  1. I understand what you're saying about the sweeping things under the rug thing. But the HUGE difference for me is that Beach was a grown adult, and she was a 12 year old CHILD. Boucher KNEW what he was doing was wrong, and is getting off waaaaaay to easy as far as I'm concerned. He's a sexual predator, whose made that poor girls life a living hell, and he should pay a huge price for what he's done. He thought it was difficult trying to make it in the NHL as a soft and undersized guy.....but that would be nothing compared to how hard he would and SHOULD find it as a soft, undersized, convicted sexual predator of a child in prison.....and he'd fully deserve any PTSD that he'd receive from the treatment he'd get inside.
  2. You were surprised? Why? this team has been looking the other way for YEARS. It's a culture thing, and for the most part the culture here for a long time (outside of a select few instances) has been to turn the other cheek and hope the refs give you a power play.
  3. That particular instance didn't have anything to do with having our enforcer be a d-man though, because that play had nothing to do with enforcing (at least on Gudbranson's end), as he wasn't enforcing anything, he was on the receiving end of someone doing some enforcing.
  4. All I said was that you don't get a gamer for instigating, that Gudbranson never instigated a fight here, and that a d-man only misses 2-3 shifts for a fight that he doesn't instigate. It's not ideal, but if a team can't compensate for that once in a very rare while, then they need a better D core. Couldn't agree more about your last point. Green and Benning were in save your ass mode and could care less about the bigger picture because of it.
  5. Even if it were 6-7 shifts on the high end, that would still be spread over the other d-men? There's NO WAY that a single guy is missing 6-7 of HIS OWN shifts in 5 minutes. A d-man who sits out 5 minutes might miss 2-3 of HIS OWN shifts, based on the other pairings also getting shifts in that time frame.
  6. Really, please show me an example of when someone's been given a game misconduct as opposed to a 10 minute misconduct for an instigator, because it's VERY rare IF you can find me an example? You do know there's a difference right.....just like there is between boarding and instigating. If he'd gotten an instigator, then he would've been back in the 2nd period.
  7. EXACTLY. It's a 10 minute misconduct. They CAN give you a gamer, but how often do you see it happen? You brought up the Schaller fight as well. Gudbranson received his game misconduct for BOARDING and not instigating.
  8. That was a BOARDING major, which I believe carries with it an automatic game misconduct, and that's why they played the rest of the game without him. That was NOT an instigator, which is what you mentioned.
  9. Since when is an instigator 2, 10 and a game? When was that rule changed? An instigator is a 2 minute penalty, 5 minutes for fighting plus a 10 minute misconduct and NOT a game misconduct...and there's a difference. So whenever you get an instigator in the first period, you'd still be back at some point in the second period. Please show me where Gudbranson received an instigator with the Canucks, because I don't see it. 5 minutes isn't that long of a time (usually 2 shifts) to go without a d-man, but IF it turns out to be 17 minutes, then that's a different story. I agree that it's not ideal to have your main tough guy be a d-man, but the more the merrier as far as I'm concerned.
  10. C'mon dude, you don't remember those games were Guddy instigated a fight and then the team had to play the whole game with 5 D, because it NEVER happened. Gudbranson never received an instigator penalty during his time here, never mind in the first period. And last time I checked, you don't get a gamer for instigating even if he had ever. You can say that you don't want your main tough guy being a d-man, but you can't use that as an example.
  11. So because Craig Button and his perm liked him, now he's a bust because he was waived? Sure thing! The guy was a 5th round pick, how can a 5th round pick be a bust? To be a bust you need SUPER high expectations and then fail. How many 5th rounders in any sport come with high expectations?
  12. By fans who were hopeful, but not by actual hockey people he wasn't. He won the Hobey Baker, so that drew him more attention, but nobody ever projected him to be a superstar or anything. A guy that was projected to be a middle to bottom six player that was drafted in the 5th round, isn't a bust. He's already played 150 more games as a 5th rounder, than more than 90% of most other 5th rounders do.
  13. Bust? He was a 5th round pick. How the hell can a 5th round pick be considered a bust?
  14. I agree with you that he's a decent player and a pretty good goal scorer, and I said that. I also said that Benning should NOT be the one to trade him at all, which is why I said that Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb have to go first.
  15. I admitted that Boeser is probably the Canucks most natural goal scorer, the problem is he can't create those goals on his own. He's basically a trigger man and needs guys to put him in position to score. How many goals has he scored off the rush or by driving to the net? I can't think of many, and a lot of that has to do with his lack of foot speed. The Canucks top 6 have at least half of the guys who aren't good skaters, and Boeser is the worst of them.
  16. No it wasn't. He's always been a below average skater. That's always been one of the biggest knocks on him.
  17. I already mentioned in my original post what his issues are, with the main one being his poor skating. And that's not an injury thing (although that makes it even worse), that's just a Brock isn't a good skater thing.
  18. There's more questions about him than just his health and durability.
  19. Until tweedle dee and tweedle dumb are gone, then I think there should basically be a roster freeze for the good of the franchise. In saying that, I have no problems trading Boeser even though I think he's the Nucks most natural goal scorer. The Canucks are too small, too soft AND too slow in their top 6 (and throughout their team), which is a bad combination. His lack of physicality and skating wouldn't be such an issue if most of the rest of the top 6 didn't have the same issues. Pearson, Boeser, Petterson are all below to well below average skaters (speed and/or strength wise), and Horvat isn't a great skater either. And when the games only getting faster and faster and half of your top 6 can't keep up, it's a major issue. The lack of physicality could also be over looked if most of the rest of the top 6 also wasn't lacking severely in that department.
  20. 1000000% NOT going to Cinci. They're sellers trying to lower their payroll and not buyers trying to add it. Castellanos is gone, and they're trying to get rid of Gray, Castillo and Votto.....which might be a guy the Jays would be interested in, as he's a home town boy and he's a left handed bat they need. Rotating him and Teoscar at DH and spelling Vladdy at 1B could work IMO. If they lose Ray, then getting Castillo and Votto in a trade would definitely lessen the blow.
  21. We actually do know that. This team isn't built the way Carlyle would want his team to be built and play. Small, slow, soft, bad defensively and TERRIBLE penalty killing isn't going to win any playoff series no matter who you're playing.
  22. They would, but the roster and the type of guys on it absolutely don't!
  23. You don't get a chance to win it all without a ticket. In saying that, I'd prefer Randy Carlyle. His teams ALWAYS stick up for themselves AND each other and never go down without a fight, and that kind of play is contagious and has been sadly missing on this team for YEARS. The only thing I'd worry about is if the "new" NHL doesn't suit his preferred way to play the game.
  24. That would likely be the worst skating first line in the NHL.
