  1. Are there any current or former American residents on the forums?

Moving to the US in the next few months. We are interviewing in Bellingham, Bremerton, Yakima, Boise, Pocatello and Missoula.

Has anyone else live in one of those places and care to share their experience?

I live in Seattle. Bellingham and Bremerton are nice.  If you live in Bremerton, you can take the ferry over to Seattle.  It’s about a 55 minute ferry ride.  And you can catch Kraken games, especially when the Canucks come to town.

Bellingham is close to the border and you can catch Canucks games in Vancouver.

I’ve been to Boise and Missoula. There’s really not a lot to do in Boise and Missoula.

Where are you living now and what prompted you to move to the US in a few months?

We are really outdoors oriented so I think we'll find plenty to do around Boise and Missoula!

You feel like those cities are lacking amenities? We leave to see Boise tomorrow.

We are moving because my wife is an American family doctor. We just started a family. We have a 4 month old! Being a family doctor in BC is really unsustainable (low pay, constantly on call, really hard to take holidays) so we are coming south. Currently live in northern BC.

Is there anything you like about Bremerton and Bellingham besides the access to hockey games? Haha

I am an outdoors person as well.  I took day trips to Boise and Missoula, but I didn't find them somewhere I'd live. I do like eastern WA like Spokane and surrounding areas.

I like Bremerton and Bellingham because they're away from Seattle.  I'm not much for Seattle, and I like nature and outdoors and community oriented.

  2. My preference order: Prime Colby before the Masvidal incident. Usman As another said, Costa would be fun.
  3. Terrible match up for Holland. Hope he got paid for consenting to that guaranteed loss
  4. I dislike Chimaev after this week but hes really good. The only fight that makes sense now is Usman after he reclaims the belt... or a #1 contender fight with Colby
  5. Nate vs Tony The two most punch drunk, incoherent guys in the sport. Should be a fun match up!
  6. Government regulatory bodies are certainly important partners! But they are not the drivers of innovation, which is what we are talking about. The FDA etc. may speed or slow an innovation based on need, but you know they are not creating anything. They are important and I'm glad they exist. But yeah, I would come sit at the adults table. Hilarious name, I love it. ...what is it?
  7. You help develop medical devices to be sold on the market. Successful capitalism drives your innovation, government funding would be a small small part of that. But that's interesting. And we clearly see the world differently. I really like talking to people with different views. If you feel like it, we could continue on private messenger so we dont pollute the boards with our nonsense?
  8. I don't think it's healthy to label everyone who disagrees with you a Neo-Nazi. That's very black and white thinking. Only a Sith deals in absolutes..
  9. That is true for every industrialized nation. That would be thanks to private innovation in technology and biotechnology sectors. The government really has nothing to do with that. And arguably the government in a socialist country has even less to do with that. Anyway, I don't want to be that guy that perpetuates a hockey forum post becoming a political post! The point I was eventually going to make was that I could see how the Stastny family would be wary of government overreach when Grandpa Stastny came from an authoritarian communist country. It's very real for some people. The world is not so black and white. Its worthwhile trying to see why someone would act in a way you disagree with.
  10. Yeah good question! I was referring to the vaccination requirement for truckers crossing the border between Canada and the US. But really it could apply to any vaccine requirement that impacts someones ability to be employed. I dont know that it's the governments place to make those decisions for people. I'm very pro vaccine but also wary of government intervention. Government doesn't have a great track record when it comes to making medical decisions for people and I wouldn't want to normalize that again in our culture (see Indian Hospitals and forced sterilization)
  11. I believe they were protesting because they didn't feel that the government had the right to create or enforce the mandate. And yeah... their tactics were awful... and I think getting vaccinated is a good idea... but I agree with them that the government should have no ability to enact this kind of mandate. Bodily autonomy is important.
  12. Yeah but he cant hang with Oliviera or Makhachev either. Usman would certainly embarrass him. Leon probably would too. But a fit Conor could conceivably out-point Leon for a decision win.... mayyyybe. I think the beauty of Conor testing out 170 is that even if he loses, he can announce hes returning to 155 and people still support him. If he returns at 155 and gets smashed by Chandler, I think that's the end of his career.
  13. I mean... you're absolutely correct. In any sane and fair world, you are right. But Conor sells tickets like nobody else. Until that stops, I think hes always in consideration.
  14. It's kind of a good fight for Conor if he can push the pace for 3/5 rounds. That will be harder now that he weighs more than usual, but who wouldnt buy that PPV? ....then I want to see Diaz somehow clip Chimaev, setting up the Conor/Nate trilogy for the 170lbs strap. Everyone makes a billion dollars and I get to pretend age isnt real.
  15. Looking at the top guys in the division, it's probably the only fight that makes sense in the next little while... unless Chimaev can do a quick turn around fight after he smeshes Diaz next month. I imagine Conor McGregor is on the phone trying to get that fight too.
  16. Probably thinking how he can manufacture drama between Leon and Conor!
  17. Usman is probably off on a lengthy medical suspension because of the knockout. I hope Edwards waits for him. But I think you're right, he wouldnt want that rematch to be his first title defense. Edwards probably asks for Masvidal...
  18. Wild. You have to think that Usman wins this fight 9 times out of 10. Any chatter about a rematch yet?
  19. Sure! Only one year remaining on his contract. Has the opportunity to put up huge numbers in a contract year by playing with McDavid or Draisaitl. He can escape the mess that is the Chicago Blackhawks. Edmonton is likely a playoff team.... hard to believe... but Edmonton is actually the more attractive choice.
  20. Agreed. I was annoyed that the story was so inconsequential. Nothing really changed from the start of the series to the end of the series. Waste of time. I would rather watch a series of Ewan McGregor (dressed as Kenobi) going to impoverished communities and developing social programs, using the $100 million Kenobi budget.
  21. Interesting! Always good to hear other opinions. I thought the general plot was fine but the script writing and editing was noticeably poor. I felt a lot of scenes were poorly done... the kidnappers chasing Leia.. Reva chasing Tala and Leia through the tunnels... Obi Wans inability to walk around a laser gate... and bad dialogue, even bad for Star Wars standards. No real character arcs, except for Reva.. and even that was pretty weak. Ewan McGregor carried the series. It felt like more of the forced nostalgia that Disney era Star Wars is pumping out. I'd rate this as far below the original trilogy and the Mandalorian... similar quality to Attack of the Clones maybe. Fun but dumb.
  22. The 4 year 7mil AAV contract extensions given to both Sedin twins was to reward them for past service and it forced the team into years of mediocrity. It was bad for the team. I love the twins.
  23. You liked it? I felt Obi Wan was a huge disappointment
  24. It's not the girls fault. She was a teenager, bud. 17 year olds arent capable of consenting to prostitution.
