  1. Only C I'd give miller is C for Cab ride to the airport. Guy has zero leadership qualities.
  2. Either no captain or Schenn. Absolutely cannot burden EP40 with the C this early in his career. He hasn't earned it yet as a leader. I believe he will, but no way should he wear it yet. He needs more time to develop and grow without carrying the weight of the team.
  3. Like... All I can think is that maybe they are so surrounded with people who give them compliments all the time, that they don't really know how bad they are playing. Like so they think they are really giving 100% every night? Miller skates at 80% forwards and 70% back checking. Does no one call him on it?
  4. It's crazy, I just don't get the lack of interest in trying to play the right way. I know the team isn't great. I know the defense suck and goaltending is weak, but how do guys like Lazar, Joshua, Horvat, Studnicka, Myers not even want to try and do something impactful.
  5. This team is playing just bad hockey. Absolutely no one besides Schenn can finish a check. It's like we are playing in a European league. How do they expect to generate anything if they won't even make contact with the other team.
  6. I think it's because he ran a small sports book 15 years ago that he admitted to. And 15 years ago it was a no no... Now we can't go a commercial break or boards advertisement without sportsbooks being shoved down our throats... So maybe a little hypocrisy?
  7. No deal. Pay me $5.5m with full insurance and I'll give Soucy a go. Pay me $8m and I'll dress up in drag for 6 months, convince Soucy to fall in love with me, spend Christmas with his family, buy a puppy together and hold his hand while we watch The Notebook.
  8. At least give it 6 months to see how the players respond. Then you can turn into Heffy if you don't like what you see. That's what most folks plan on doing I think. Every coach is a product of their players, and every player is a product of the coach. Who knows how different players will respond, rise or fall.
  9. Wtf? I thought you were gonna show me some Probert or Domi type clip. Two things. 1. That scrap doesn't prove anything. It's a short scrap and neither side landed anything, and 2. I said IN Comparison to Tocchet... And I stand by that. In comparison to Tocchet Miller isn't tough. But I hope Miller can learn about being tough and add a little more physicality to his game.
  10. Jeeze man. Take it easy. Guy played in the league for over 20 years. His gambling stuff was over 15 years ago and involved Gretzky. Is Gretzky or his wife criminals in your eyes also? Maybe just slow your roll. No sense in being so negative about something that sounds like a done deal.
  11. Lol... JT is about to realize that moodiness and peacocking isn't the same as tough. He is soft as baby doodoo compared to old school tough...BUT he can learn.
  12. I think he will do fine. Gotta have faith that while he has flaws, this team needs someone new at the helm( in no way a knock on Bruce). But the players need a head shake, the systems need to change, the culture needs an adjustment, the pushback needs to come back.... So I'm optimistic about this change. Not saying I'm hoping for wins, just hoping for a different on ice performance and type of play
  13. I think Miller will deserve whatever comes his way from a hard nosed coach. Guy needs an attitude adjustment and a solid reminder that entitlement and arrogance don't belong on the ice or in the dressing room. I know Miller is capable of turning a corner and reestablishing his game, but it's going to take a no bullshit coach to straighten him out. Tocchet is the right coach for Miller, Myers, and maybe some floater Guys like Lazar, Dries, Joshua etc... But Hughes and Petey and Kuz are going to have a tough time for a while. BB6 is hopeless regardless.
  14. BB6 and Garland have both been gifted prime minutes for almost 2 months now. Brock was moved to the first pp unit in replace of Kuz, our top PP scorer. This was done to showcase Brock and reduce Kuz's value. It has had the opposite effect. Brock has been garbage on the PP. He is also on a line with EP, our leading scorer, and even he can't get Brock producing. Then Garland has been with Horvat our top goal scorer, and Miller, 3rd in points. Garlands headed for a 40pt season. Not sure they can gift these guys anything more! I thought players were supposed to earn their positions or at the very least elevate their play from time to time. Seems no matter what we do with some of these guys the reality always shows through. BB6 has been a bustaroo since his Rookie season, and Garlands endless motor isn't enough to drive a line or put up points Are they terrible players? No, are they helping the team by playing to or above their contracts? Also no. So what team wants to pay for that? What team is looking to acquire these types of players and are willing to give up assets for them? I suppose the trade deadline will solve this argument, but I wouldn't get my hopes up for anything besides taking anything to move these contracts.
  15. The speculation about buying out Garland came initially from a sports columnist, but was repeated on HNIC a week ago I believe. Not saying it's happening. The reality is that other teams consider both on ice play AND salary cap when looking at players like Miller of BB6. One has an albatross contract that is reasonable for the first couple years (maybe) but Miller is already trending away before the contract starts. He is HUGE risk for any team. BB6 has issues of underperforming already, and his two way game is terrible. In other words, not team is giving up valuable assets to aquire these players. No way. Best you can hope for is trading for an inferior player who has less cap hit over less time. There is no scenario where either of these players returns a pick in the 1st or 2nd round, unless there is a huge sweetener like Podz or Kuz added in. Think about it. If the Canucks, at the bottom of the league are trying to move these guys, why would any team pay top dollar for them.
  16. Your evaluations for the contracts are pretty reasonable but IMHO you are way out to lunch if you think any of those trade values are accurate except for the Scenn one. We canrteven give Miller or Boeser away, and there's speculation of just buying garland out. We need to give up first round pics to move those contracts, forget anyone paying us 1st rounds for them! Lol
  17. Yep, ok to disagree. In the short time I agree that the players need to play always for the W. But I do think the players know that they need to play the right way in order to be able to get more W's, and I do think that was a missed opportunity last night to build some team chemistry and show that your C has your back.
  18. Definitely agree that this management group seems to be completely out of sync. From the players all the way up and back down. Not sure how that gets fixed.
  19. I think the Hughes comment definitely caught them off guard. They probably thought they had a handle to TP's injury or at least we're in agreement on a plan and then Hughes' comment created a lot of uncertainty. Don't get me wrong, I do think this org needs to do a way better job communicating. It's a mess. But I didn't really expect any other answer to come out of the President's office. Could you imagine if JR said the truth and the truth happened to be one of the following? - Yeah I have no idea what's going on with my players. - Yeah the medical staff really sh*t the bed on this one. - Pearson being on LTIR is actually good for us. -Quinn is a liar and needs to shut his mouth. I'd kinda prefer the soft media approach to the can of worms that would open up if they said any of those. Lol
  20. JR was absolutely aware, but in all my media training I learned that you don't just open up and start blubbering the truth to the media. Your job is to give the media enough information to run with a story without saying anything that creates an obligation or places blame on yourself, colleagues or organization. I'm fine with what JR said and that they are investigating, that's standard response.
  21. You're clearly missing the point. One that's been. Written out in many different ways to help you understand. There was a lot more at stake in that situation than the 2 points and a solid captain wouldn't have even had to weigh the options, they would have defended their teammate no questions asked, the 2 points be dammed. The team was set back more than just two points the other night. If you don't understand what I mean by that then it's your failing.
