  1. Hirsch at start of the third "Canucks need to sit back, play back and protect this lead," also Hirsch in 3rd, "Canucks need to press, they need one more goal"
  2. Ha I literally said to my wife.. "I wonder if someone actually told him that looks good...like to his face... Without laughing.. without crossing their fingers"
  3. But I've learned so much about his childhood, career, coaching, personal opinions, children, in-laws, thoughts on Dave Chapelles stand up and his passion for horticulture.. pretty sure he's covered all of that in the 2nd period alone!
  4. Are you allowed to turn down a power play?? Like if our power play sucks can we say no thank you and just keep playing? Is that a thing?
  5. When is Petey going to sign a new contract and show up?? We could use his offense put there... We could also use his defence... Oh wait
  6. I miss the days where our for check actually ok included a hit or two.
  7. In Zac's and his moms defense, the twitter "rant" was more just a subtle comment about his lack of playing time. If I recall, a lot of folks on cdc were in agreement with the comment because Zac was playing his "best" hockey at the time and couldn't figure out why he was getting such limited ice time. Not that a twitter comment is helpful, but it wasn't as bad as your making it out to be.
  8. I understand it's 4 games in. And I know it was a bad loss. I'm not panicking or freaking out. I just came i to this season expecting things to look different. Detroit was by far our best game. First two went to shootout. Both could have been losses. It's Greens deployment. The PP, defensive zone coverage, 5on5... The systems haven't changed from last year. People were saying last year it wasn't Green and Co. It was lack of talent. Well now he has more talent yet the systems are the same. I'm concerned that he isn't capable of growing as a coach right now.
  9. Please don't say that. I need to believe things will get better!
  10. Or sit down and watch the Caps power play over and over again. Figure out what every player is doing and how they are moving the puck to open up Ovi's one timer. Everyone knows he is shooter, but he always gets a clear line to the net. Figure out how to set that up... Then flip the ice so it works for Petey. Instead they seem to move the puck around hoping something will just open up.
  11. Right. Totally agree. That's the point I'm trying to make. On paper we are in pretty good shape on D. We're actually in really good shape. On the PP we are in really good shape with Petey, Boes, Hughes, BO and Miller. Yet the PP is stagnant and flat. The problem is no longer the players it's deployment. Probably 100 straight PP with Petey waiting for a 1 timer on the half boards. How often does that pass even come and the shot make it through? How often are the D pinned in at 5on5! It's crazy it happens multiple times a game! The D collapse and act like they are on a penalty kill at 5vs5. I just don't get it.
  12. I'm in agreement with Benning. Our D is playing better than I expected. However they are being coached completely wrong. Nothing has changed from last year. I wasn't pro or anti Green, but if this embarrassment doesn't change Green and Baumer need to go.
  13. I would agree with that. I could see Bo and JT having conflict. I could also see Petey getting frustrated with Millers mistakes. I would wait until the trade deadline and see what the market is for a guy like JT.
  14. I'm starting to have a real problem with Miller and feel like he may be part of the problem with this team. He is making all kinds of terrible decisions with the puck, and in the defensive zone, everyone can see... BUT I don't think he is the type of guy to own his mistakes or take criticism. Yes he swears and pouts when he screws up, but that's not taking accountability. I played a lot with emotional guys and it drove me crazy how they would get pissed at themselves, but never actually own up to their mistakes. Yet they were the first to yell at others and point out people's shortcomings. Basically unless everything is going 100% his way, I get the impression he is a complete negative Nancy... And as a leader he is dragging people down rather than building them up. IMHO of course.
  15. I dont think so. The NHL and Canucks have wonderful programs to assist players with mental health. Enrollment into these programs are often publicized so others can benefit in their own way. I respect what Benning said about the issue being bigger than what everyone thinks. My guess, and it's just a guess, is if TH's daughter is immune compromised the risk of him bringing covid back to his household every time her returns from the road is high regardless of being vaccinated or not. Especially with the new Delta variant. As a father your children are more important than hockey or millions of dollars. He is likely struggling with taking that risk and has determined that unless something drastically changes, hockey isn't worth it right now.
  16. Hey OP, Knowing that the vast majority of folks aren't fans of his colour commentary the last 2 games.... Did you seriously make this post just to bash the guy? Could you do better? Good grief this is a new low for CDC.
  17. Speaking about the referees in the first 3 games. Yes it's been very frustrating to see missed calls, "make up" calls, wrong calls etc. But as many have stated, referees are human, and the human element will always exist. Example, in my job I often have to apply officer discretion. The law is black and white, but every situation is different and needs to be viewed that way, or else you will carry too much bias into new scenarios. Switching back to referees. Hooking is hooking, BUT refs must decide quickly, did the hook impede a players progress? Was it obvious? Did it eliminate a scoring chance? Has this player gotten away with multiple hooks and now should be called. You see the human element is not always bad. I'm ok with refs making these calls in real time and using discretion. The only thing I wish they did away with was the game management. That should not factor in. Switching back to my officer role, if I was to apply game management to even out charges it completely discredits the whole process.
