  1. Easy answer: Yes, he is a #1 goalie. The harder question... What is Demko? Because Demko determines what happens with Markstrom. While I don't agree that one of them HAS to go.. I do believe for good asset management, one of them SHOULD go, for a top 6 or 1st rounder. Gotta pay to play.
  2. I wouldn't, he sat for a number of games. Got put back in the lineup against Florida, and did nothing at all. I know he wasn't brought here to be flashy... but I distinctly remember him talking in an interview about being a grinder, standing up for teammates. Giving the young players room to work etc. I haven't seen any of that. Him and Fanta basically play identical games, if he wants to be in the lineup, he has to bring a little more. He will figure it out. Mybe in the playoffs Nice facial hear though.
  3. In what way are the Canucks tough enough. At this point we rank 27th in the league in team fights with 4 (13 fights in 2018/19)... and 3 of those fights were done by players not even in the lineup currently. I'm not advocating that we get Kassian, and not saying fights are the only measure..just saying that we are not tough. We are bigger than we were last season, but not tough. Not individually or team tough.. and I am terrified of actually making the playoffs and Petey out there with a guy like Turtlechuck in the playoffs
  4. Their both pests.....I'll leave it there. ( go read what I posted one page back to Bree cause that answers your question) Gotcha, I hear what you're saying... so here's my question then. When has Jake ever been a pest? better yet, when has that line ever pestered the other team? I would lose my nut if Jake, Rooster and Gawd started hitting and running their mouths. Even Rooster has gone quiet... Maybe it's not JV, maybe it's Green. I dunno.. I'm just frustrated. It's cold outside.
  5. Damn, I was hoping to have a better lead over Vegas before they start the traditional, fire the coach win 5 straight routine.
  6. I don't use the scoresheet to determine how someone is playing.. I watch the games. Maybe next game, watch Jake without the puck, watch him do fly bys.. watch how he transitions into the back check. Fastest guy on the team, very slow to transition and start a back check. I get that people see him being something great in 2 more years... but right now the facts are there. I'm simply pointing them out. I think these are more accurate and relavent than a good 10 game run of scoring.
  7. Jake plays nothing like Burrows. Burr took his limited hockey skills and perfected them, worked at them and climbed his way to the top with determination and passion. Then he brought that passion day in and day out. JV took all of his talent and skills, and brings them to the ice 1 in every 10 games.... more recently 1 in every 4-6 games. (progress I guess.. but 10 games is not enough to convince me he is JV 2.0) Also, I'm not blaming JV for his line not producing, or the team getting shut out.. I'm just tired of everyone's excuses for his lack of effort, consistency etc. At some point, JV's lack of effort, production, passion, aggressiveness, puck rushes etc... is on him.
  8. I can appreciate everything your saying, the history of Jake etc.... but I'm disheartened when you say "once he figures out more", and "He will continue to develop" I think it's time to stop wishing and hoping that Jake is going to become something more than he is. Yes he had a good run 2-4 weeks back, but now 5 games and no Jake again. Jake does not have it in him to be physical at the NHL level. Maybe, just maybe with the return of Ferland, he might move towards that role, but I'm not holding on to hope anymore
  9. I hate to get into a d**k measuring contest, but -44 this morning in Yukon
  10. Real Fan here: I don't think people are freaking out because they lost 2 in a row (again) It's how they lost, and really, more importantly, how they won those 7 in a row. They didn't deserve to win at least 4 of those 7. I'll take luck over skill for a few games, but it wont get you into the playoffs. This team is still young, yes, but they aren't playing with the passion of a young team, the energy and emotion. There are so many warning's with this team right now, and it's ok for people to want to talk about them.
  11. This It's becoming more and more apparent that this team has been castrated. Look at guys like Motte and Rooster, energy guys whose purpose is to create fire by providing a spark. They want to do this, yet they don't. Even beer league has a few guys whose only purpose on the ice is to piss me off, and they do it for free. What is going on with this team and their passive and cool headed approach to everything? I've never been so bored watching the Canucks, if they aren't scoring, they aren't doing anything. This is not the 2019/2020 season I was expecting. Also.. Whats up with Captain Bo? Don't get me wrong, diehard Bo fan, but on the ice he needs to step up, step in, or step out.
  12. I always love these fun trade speculation threads! Where CDC says no thanks to every possible player (Subban, Hall, etc.)... then complains that JB hasn't done anything to get a top 6 forward or top 4 defense. Someone should make a thread titled... "Well who DO you want!?" and see which players CDC actually wants. Rather than saying no to each potential player, 1 thread at a time. I'd do it but I don't want to.
  13. I didn't hear any audio.. For all i know, he told Marky to tell the boys to take it easy on him tonight! No, but for real... he did good, he cool.
  14. I'm not here to be judged by You People.
  15. The point i was trying to make was in response to a poster who said every team has injuries and the Canucks injuries basically aren't an excuse for poor play. I'm trying to highlight that the loss of 5 players and lack of replacement has a significant impact on how the team plays
  16. Come on man.... think a little deeper. The roll Crosby plays can be filled with offensive players willing to step up. i.e Malkin, Guentzel, McCan... yes our injuries are different because the rolls the injured players play are significantly more than simply losing offence. The point I was trying to make is the canucks have lost aggressors, agitators, defensive specialist and energy guys, all at the same time. Those are really hard rolls to fill, and have more of an effect on the game than a top goal scorer. Case and point, goal scoring is important, but without a team to back them, it doesnt mean anything. See Oilers 2013-2018
  17. You're right, every team has injuries... But remember, injuries are a double sided coin... it's 1 side to lose a player, the other side is "who is replacing them" Yes, Pens lost Crosby, but they have some strong guys able to step in and fill his roll, sort of. Who is stepping in to fill Ferlands aggressive roll? No one Who is stepping in to fill Beagles Pk shut down roll? No one Who is stepping in to fill Sutters pk shut down roll? Gaudette, but lacking defensive prowess and faceoffs Who is stepping in to fill Roussels agitator roll? No one Who is stepping in to fill Motte's energy roll? Give you a hint, it's not Erickson.... its no one So yes, other teams have injuries, but the Canucks injuries are felt double hard because (Warning sweet rhyme coming) we only have bodies to fill holes... not rolls.
  18. Everyone is so focused on the outcome of the game and the terrible 3rd. In reality the biggest problem with the team wasn't blowing a 3 goal lead, it was not even registering a shot on goal in the first 12 minutes. This after such a strong Washington game, then an embarrassing Philly game. The team should have come out of the gates swinging, setting themselves up for a 4/6 roadtrip! The Canucks played about 30 minutes out of 60. Thats brutal, IMHO the collapse in the 3rd is on the players.... but the lackluster start is on Green
  19. The hard part for me is when it comes to justice, the punishment should match the crime. What Babcock said/did to Marner, or how he treated people in the past, in no way warrants a social media campaign to destroy the mans legacy and character. So he wasn't a good guy... ok, well I know a lot of bad guys, yet I don't jump on FB, twitter etc and attack them.. i move on about my day. Seriously, this has gone way too far IMHO
  20. Definitely a plausible/feasible trade proposal..... I'm not sure I've ever actually written that before. Well done OP
