  1. Wanna bet? This is CDC you're talking about
  2. Hey! You Shush it! If it wasn't for threads like these I'd literally have no reason to be on cdc. Keep'em coming people! We're almost through the offseason.
  3. Honestly this list has helped me put Louis contract into a better perspective. Nice to know there are other team in worse or similar situations. Also, while his contract is bad now, when he signed it wasn't AS bad. A lot of those other contracts were really bad the day they were signed, and only got worse.
  4. Yes, I did notice that, but didn't want to shoot holes in my own argument Gotta make other people do their own research.
  5. If by saying he's not playoff material you mean someone who plays bigger than their size, doesnt take stupid penalties, contributes offensively, plays with a lot of heart, logs big minutes, mid 20's in points and is a hometown boy.. then yeah, totally not playoff material. Also, what are you talking about needing to explode with offensive prowess? He had 23 points last year. 21 at even strength, thats our best defensemen at even strength. 3 points more than Edler. Give him time, I think he is going to surprise some people this year.
  6. All hunters do not carry hand guns. Most hunters know its not worth the risk of losing the gun, permit and licence if caught. Trust me, the RCMP will absolutely care if they roll up on you in hunting camp and youre wearing a side arm. EDIT- For the record, as a hunter, hunting guide and gun owner... I would also care if i rolled up to a hunting camp and someone was wearing a side arm. This isn't America, and I'm damn happy about that!
  7. Seriously? What evidence are your privy to that makes this so "clearly" stand out as a serial killer? Because an argument gone wrong, drug deal gone wrong, robbery gone wrong, sexual crime gone wrong etc are all so far fetched to you, yet a serial killer is 100% the answer in your mind? Witness accounts seem to indicate couple were broke down on side of the road. Likely someone looking to take advantage of people in a vulnerable position.
  8. Whitehorse resident here.... I can say that at this time, there is nothing to link the two main investigations together (at least nothing publicly released). Media is going to link things and were the first people to use the words "serial killer". Just don't talk to strangers, and there's nothing saying you cant travel through our provinces/territories with a non-restricted rifle/shotgun for "bear" protection.
  9. I get it, the Erikson signing should always go without saying. But Sutter was a 35 pt guy, in a shutdown role, play 80+ games in previous 4/5 seasons, projected to be a character/leader. We might have overpaid slightly at 4.3mil, but only very slightly. Compare to Bo - 50 pts and at the time he got 5.5mil, Hindisght is 20/20, but really Sutter got paid what he should have at the time, Bo is a steal. 2 people just trending in opposite directions
  10. Mostly because of projections. (FYI I'm not arguing FOR 7 mil, just answering your question) He was projected to be close to 40 goals, 60+ points before being injured in freak accident. Second season similar situation, plus slow start due to recovery. Keep in mind, 7 million today is not 7 million 4 years ago. BB is a good talent and he is young, but has yet to show elite talent. Good talent + young + trending upward =7 mill = no risk Good talent + young + no trend = 7 mill = risk Personally I hope we land at 6-6.5 long term and this could be a steal or a tradeable contract
  11. Of course there will be teams better than us with more cap space. Thats how this works, how players perform is not always indicative of how much they are being paid (erikson for negative example. Bo for positive, heck Petey on entry level). But if you look at the history of our signings, both contracts and UFA's, there are very few that were bad AT THE TIME of signing. Even Sutters was a good signing at the time. He was never injured and a great defensive forward. Your comment is irrelevant.
  12. Well we're only tight to the cap because we just signed 3 new UFA's and traded for JT Miller. So us being bad for a while is what allowed us to make these signings, we now have to see how "good" we will be moving forward. I'll take tight to the cap and a good playoff run over weaponized cap space and a bottom 16 finish
  13. Well said. JB cannot work work miracles. He is still constrained by the CBA, previous contracts, UFA desires and Player Agents.... but within all those, he is icing a team i am genuinely excited to see. Way to Be JB!
  14. We held on to Tanev because we had no one else who could play defensive defense and no goalie. Edler is offence, Guddy was a disaster, Delzaster, Pouliot.. ouch. then we had new guys Stetcher and Hutton. Tanev was the only non-liability on the ice. If we gave him up 2 years ago yes, we would have had a nice return.. but at what cost? Marky's GAA would have put him in the minors and we'd still be shopping for more defense. You can't have addition without subtraction and Tanev would have left a pretty big hole.
  15. I respectfully disagree. Tanev is not going to command a 1st. Teams are not looking at Tanev of 5 years ago. I agree high possession teams will see a value in Tanev... but they aren't going to pay for the perceived value on their team... they are going to pay for the real value on our team. Which translates to.... Tanev at 82 games last year = 1st round pick Tanev at 60 games last year = 2nd round pick + decent prospect Tanev at 60 games for last 3 years = Tanev staying in Vancouver OR 2nd round pick If he was worth a first, people would have offered a first... and we know that hasn't happened because Tanev is still here.
  16. I feel for Tanev. I remember when he first came into the league. He took such a beating in the corners and he would always bounce back up. He took next to zero penalties while being one of the best defensive defenseman. I remember thinking this guy is a warrior. Fast forward 8 years and everyone is on him because he cant stay healthy. His body is broke down because of what he did for the team years ago. I agree its time to move on, but based on his diminished value, I wouldn't be surprised to see him suit up for the nucks and if healthy, moved at the deadline next spring.
  17. I see your face palm, , and raise you two head shakes Although to the OP, it IS refreshing to see a proposal which totally UNDERvalues the 'nucks. Something different
  18. Seriously looks like someone in the seats is lining up a rail of coke! Man things were a different back in the day!
  19. I know I'll get ripped for this, but I also know there's lots of people out there who feel the same. There are a lot of good UFA's this year, and every single one will make this team better. Everyone can analyse to the 10th degree.... but for me... i just want this team to make a splash. Sign someone, make a statement, be a personality, give me something to talk about. Lots of other teams do it and it works out well. Karlson, Myers, Trouba, Panarin, Duchene, Subban. These guys would all make us better. I'll be happy with any of them.
  20. I hear you. Since drafting already poses a risk at any spot, dropping spots only increases the risk of the player not panning out. I don't feel the #19th and 32nd is enough to take the risk.
  21. So.. like.. get better by getting worse? You are playing a real long term game here
