  1. Woulda been nice to see him play but obviously that wasn't an option. Hopefully he tears it up for Calgary this year but it will definitely require him taking steps forwards without the solid linemates he had last season.
  2. I hope he keeps up his faceoff rate in the pre-season. He's been a monster in the dot. can anyone find the clip of him facing off with Monahan in the Canucks D-zone? He absolutely dominated. Got inside body positioning and broke Monahan's stick to win the puck back. He looked like the bull Shawn Matthias reportedly described him as.
  3. that's actually something I hadn't considered. With mcenenys situation next year being more fluid, sending him to junior is an easy way to get valk on the comets roster. Saves from making a tougher decision with a vet player. p.s. there i go turning every thread into a valk thread haha p.p.s i like how a lot of people are pulling for him now
  4. I think this is best case scenario for him. He'll getlots of minutes with kingston. missed a full year of junior (except for the first 2 games) I think he's still got things to learn from juniors. It'll work out ok. his size and skill set are still desirable. let's see where he ends up after this season. hopefully will be coming off a dominant year!
  5. ^^^ MacKinnon and Landeskog were definitely ready as 18 YOs I'd say. Duchene and O'Reilly probably could have gone back to juniors. But it's just like you said, the Avs were not a deep team for several years.
  6. Adirondack is going to be a handful for Utica this year. these flame's prospects are good.

      they aren't being compared.

  7. I AM SO GD EXCITED FOR THE YOUNG STARS GAME TONIGHT I CAN'T WAAAAIITT!! HOCKEY IS BACK!

  8. perhaps he left out bonino because he's the second best center on the roster and horvat isn't going to take his spot?
  9. @Dasein I guess if it came down to needing faceoff prowess on the third line, i don't mind switching Matthias and Richardson. To me, the important thing is building a bottom 6 that can actually play hockey. And since we're talking about the possibility of Bo making the roster; building a bottom 6 that can show him how to play the NHL game. On paper, Matthias should be a better 3rd line option (especially if his F/O % increases) and Richardson would be very good 4th line C. Also, I know I heard Benning say he sees Vey possibly starting out as a 3RW; even went on to say he could be a guy that evolves into a 2C down the road. I'm pretty positive it was in the video section on CDC shortly after the draft. But, it seems you and I are driving at the same point. I CANNOT wait for camp. Getting sick of the speculation!
  10. I don't think you understood what I said. To avoid another long post, in short, horvat would take a 4th liners roster spot, not their role. If our 4th line was Horvat-Richardson-Hansen, that gives us a way better chance of rolling all 4 lines.
  11. You're probably right about sestito, without roster changes him and dorsett will be more or less interchangeable most likely. I don't see Matthias going to the 4th line though. that makes a big difference for horvat. Benning said early on vey may be started on the wing as well. So if the Canucks do end up playing vey on the wing, and horvat gets at least 9 games, opening night roster could be: D Sedin - H Sedin - Vrbata Burrows - Bonino - Kassian Higgins - Matthias - Vey Horvat / Richardson - Hansen I know people say 4th line minutes are bad for development, but if it happens that horvat earns a longer look after preseason, I think all 4 of those lines would be getting a fair share of minutes. I also like the idea of having horvat with Richardson and Hansen. They both skate well and have a lot of experience, they would be good linemates to start learning the NHL pace with.
  12. To me, if Bo is on the opening night roster, Sestito is the odd man out. All of our centers are more valuable as hockey players than he is. Bo's opportunity this year is to take Sestito's roster spot. Whether he plays as a C or LW, he won't displace any of the centers from the 12 forward group instead of Sestito. I don't think positional depth makes much of a difference just because the bottom 6 centers we have are versatile enough to play wing if Horvat looks better at center.
  13. I'm of the opinion he's more likely to displace a winger rather than a center, if anyone at all. there is nothing wrong with him getting used to NHL pace on the wing. and of course he would still be an option to take draws if he is indeed better than the center he's lined up with. I think this would be a really good bottom six: higgins-matthias-vey horvat-richardson-hansen both of those lines could eat up a good amount of minutes. Now don't flip out over horvat's placement in this figuritive line up. Just spitballing how to create a talented bottom 6.
  14. He never played in the SEL prior to his 1 season with AIK though.
  15. Jensen comes to mind as an exception. maybe it's a matter of having played professionally in europe before juniors? he did play one season in denmarks top league prior to joining Oshawa.
  16. that would mean he came back from his surgery more than a month early. i don't think that's what they will want to do with him.
  17. I agree he has to assert himself more with the way he plays the game but i disagree that he's not a good fighter. Him and Lain were good in all of their fights last year.
  18. It's a tough call with him. I would personally prefer if he played on the top pairing in kingston as an overager rather than being lost in the shuffle in the AHL or being sent to kalamazoo. the ECHL has helped a couple of our forwards; it just wouldn't be my preference for McEneney. I think there is still value in playing junior for him; especially considering he lost a full year due to injury. If there is room for him in Utica, that's definitely the #1 situation for him. I'm just not sure there will be minutes for him with the Comets.
  19. i dont think it would help or hurt sestito to keep him as a 13th forward. slot him in for those types of matchups.
  20. there's something i noticed here on CDC... A lot of posters use the word "crapty" instead of "crappy" is that a Canadian thing? I've never seen that anywhere else but here.

@ g_bassi13, that makes a ton of sense hahah thank you!

  21. If he's good enough to make the Canucks on the 4th line, he will get more minutes as he earns them. As Herb Brooks would say, "GET THAT THROUGH YOUR HEAD!"
  22. I'm guessing they don't pay much attention to forums. I am quite sure, however, they are mentioned on retweets of various rumors they are involved in. for example, Shinkaruk had heard his name mentioned (via twitter) in a package for the first overall pick prior to the draft. I know this because the Vancouver media asked him what he had heard about it. If these guys manage not to hear or read things, this market will bring it to their attention just as quickly.
  23. If he's ready to be in the NHL, a 4th line of horvat-Richardson-dorsett would be far more reliable than if sestito was in instead of Bo. Draft position is irrelevant. if he shows management he's ready at camp, his complete game makes the Canucks better. Even if on the roster he's penciled in on the dreaded 4th line. If he shows he's ready to go pro, an NHL roster is the best place for him. Considering AHL isn't an option. He's the type of player that will find himself special teams minutes. If at camp he's ready to go, I don't think they'll hesitate to put him on the roster and see what happens.
  24. no worries. we'll have drafted our 1c who happens to also be a russian giant by then...
