  1. I think there will be a very nice boost to the offense in utica next season. I'm saying that gaunce, fox, shinkaruk, kenins, and mceneny will at least start the season in the A. There are such thing as conversion rates for point production from league to league but I think it's more about the individual than anything. You can find those projections on canucksarmy.com. Anyway those are the 5 that will be going pro next year in my opinion; I think our NCAA prospects will all be in school again. As far as goaltending prospects are concerned, what you see is what we got. We had two others (ilahti and honzik) but they weren't resigned after last season. Ilahti may have been let go the year before last. To me, there are 2 holes in the prospect pool, young goaltending and a real blue chip d-man. Just looking at cap geek, there are a lot of contracts ending after this year. Really hard to say who gets resigned at this point. There will be some tough calls to make, especially amongst the fringe NHLers and career AHL forwards. This is going to be one of the more exciting off seasons we've seen in a long time.
  2. I'm sure he wanted to see his buddies and country succeed. But there must be some kind of satisfaction from sutter's failure. That's just human nature haha
  3. posters who realize what's done is done and that you can't change it have the correct mindset. Maybe you should pull your head out of the clouds?
  4. you should change your handle to harvey dent; completely different type of poster outside of this thread. you need to deal with your perma "soft on" for gaunce on your own time.
  5. from what i've gathered from his posts, he doesn't realize there is such thing as a bottom 6 forward group.
  6. we had that opportunity, so naturally fans would hope to see all 3 make it. even you understand that i'm sure.
  7. before it was buy him out, now its can we flip him for anything? he's been better no doubt. but if we free up his cap space and graduate archibald, i think going in on a younger wing with less of an injury history would be better.
  8. good post. richardson hasn't had a bad game all year, just as steady as they come. i hadn't thought about it really but it makes sense; booth's skating got better and all of a sudden i'm not noticing kassian for all the wrong reasons. booth and kass have always seemed to play well together and i think richardson brings a culture of working your arse off every shift, and its rubbing off on the other two.
  9. as chris higgins once said "if your not a top pick and go the college route, get your degree". personal opinion is he should stay with maine his full 4 years. the NCAA turns out good defenseman every year. depth wise, the D core will look a heck of a lot different in 2-3 seasons.
  10. inconsistant is the operative word. he's looked great the last couple games and in the home stand has been pretty good. being promoted back to the third line with richardson and booth seems to have sparked him some. if he continues to finish his checks and go hard to the net, he'll get another contract.
  11. this is pretty pathetic. we're talking about an athlete for god sake. nothing he has done has ACTUALLY effected any of you in any way. i'm glad to see there are posters that are making sense and seem to be able to step back from the game for a moment. cause thats all this is; a game. people are making a home town boy feel disgraced for no reason. he isn't marchand or thornton. and if you look only marchand has actually done something to this team to cause his own hate! (and perpetuated it by fueling the fans at this weekends game) hockey's physical nature can cause animosity (see me yelling at my tv when marchand table topped sami salo) but people realllllly need to step back sometimes.
  12. pretty funny to have seen the progression of this forum. 2 years ago our prospect pool was piss poor. we have 1 good draft and now its time to cut ties with anyone without a "guaranteed" blue chip next to their name? good teams build from within people! we need gaunce and jensen; maybe not next season and maybe not as soon as horvat and shinkaruk make it, but these are the kind of guys that build organizational depth! instead of trying to be cool and predict who busts, why not try supporting our guys for once?? end rant.
  13. you're not wrong that its against junior players; and sometimes it doesn't translate. but you want your top prospects being dominant because it lends well to being a better pro.
  14. Tanev's goal last night was a beauty. offensively, i could see him becoming a lot like hammer, 4-8 goals, 20-30 assists. and consistantly at that!

      Tanev is a boss :D

tanev and stanton have been pleasant surprises...maybe corrado next year....

  15. as far as i remember, he never received a contract from the canucks and went to free agency as a result.
  16. been thinkin about it today and there isn't really a thread to post in about it but I really want to see jordan schroeder play this season! i like the idea of a line with schroeds - richardson - booth. richardson is more versatile so maybe he would take the draws and swap to the wing and jordan can play at center ice. there is a lack of playmaking on the team and he could bring it in spades!

Also from what I remember he really picked up his game half way through those 39 games.

    3. Joel Heyman

That would be solid. Booth and Schroeder have good chemistry too and this would be a chance to check him out on the wing at the NHL level

I want him on line like this; Hansen-Schroeder-Booth they are all fast skaters and can create havoc off the rush. He also had good chemistry with Hansen and Raymond last year because of their speed. With Booth's speed + hands and Jordan's vision we can have ourselves a great line.

  17. i saw it somewhere he was on a line with brown and curtis. however it is though, all positives being in the top 6 for erie. hopefully some of the detractors notice his playmaking ability lining up with good finishers.
  18. people need to ligten up on the footspeed issue. he has good top speed so the ability is there. he will have to learn how to keep his feet moving at the pro level to succeed. he'll have a great opportunity to do this in the AHL next season.
  19. the coach doesn't like the way he plays, simple as that.. personally he seems like a strong option for the 4th line at least, maybe as a defensive specialist to carry along as a scratch. sucks to hear he won't get the shot but maybe it will be motivating.
  20. awesome! now to get subban out of belleville as well..
  21. his numbers in the last two seasons suggest 2 very strong years. one with help on his line, one without. im going to default to his coaches on this when they have nothing but good things to say about how he's developed. looking at numbers alone doesnt always work. thats how late-bloomers get selected, and those don't tend to work out that well.
  22. this guy could be our best d prospect not named frank corrado.
  23. absolutely. horvat and gaunce are necessary type players for championships. i fully support the logic that you have to build a strong base with these types of guys before gambling on an offensive player like shinkaruk. picking horvat and having gaunce in the system already significantly reduces the risk that came with picking hunter IMO. although i am also of the opinion that shinkaruk will definitely be a vancouver canuck, and a big producer for us.
  24. Hey, I'm looking for someone who lives in Canada who is techy. please inbox me if you are good with internet stuff.

  25. here's to hoping he's recovered. one of the better looking defenseman at the young stars tourney along with a pretty solid season last lear. also bearing in mind that he only played 2 games the year before last.
