  1. This signing needs to happen. until we have a first round defensive prospect in the system, not comfortable with the depth we have.
  2. im sure you've heard this argument before but trading schneider to pick nichushkin had way too much risk involved. if he heads back to the KHL, schneider was given up for nothing. Bo was the can't miss prospect available to us. no crystal ball here, but i see him in the top six after his rookoie season playing as the 3C. I'm clearly more optimistic than you which is fine, but why not look at the bright side and the reality of what we have in the system? imagine a line of shinkaruk-horvat-kassian. has the big power forward you are looking for, a fantastic all around player in the middle, and a truly elite level skilled goal scorer (has put up more poitns than Mayray in a much tougher league) on the left. AND no risk of those guys leaving the NHL for a massive payday in europe. Last thing, Sami Pahlsson in his prime has a cup ring. I know you are trying to minimize horvat's skill, but Pahlsson was hugely important to the ducks championship. both horvat and gaunce appear to be on a trajectory above pahlsson's prime.
  3. gaunce was playing LW with either quine or graovac if i remember right. his offensive seemed to pick up around the same time he moved to the wing. I think he'll be a versatile guy in the nhl, maybe playing wing early on will help him transition more smoothly.
  4. what if gaunce's defensive game and faceoffs are on an NHL level if he gets to start the season in Van? would you all still want him sent back to juniors to hopefully develope more offense, or do you keep him around as a PKer and let him move around between 3rd/4th line C/LW?
  5. Team USA's orientation camp is in Virginia? seems kind of an odd ball place to have it.

yeah i suppose, just seems it would make more sense to have it in a more hockey affluent area. USA hockey HQ is in Colorado Springs. maybe Minnesota or Michigan. I dunno, doesn't really matter haha

  6. thats probably more the case, i didn't consider that. Now that makes me wonder what the adjustment period for Kass would be. He's never played that type of game before. I hope they get together over the summer just to have some ground work laid before they get into the regular season.
  7. the question is Kassian. if you remember, Kassian was productive with the sedins, but hank and danny were not with Kassian. if Kass plays the first line that makes the whole line up better and more flexible. It'll be an option and it will be tried, but if Zack is ready for that this season is a huge question mark right now.
  8. anyone else see klimchuk photo bomb shinkaruk during his canucks tv interview?

  9. Horvat will be a canuck in a couple years, if nichushkin wasn't next season then he would never be. That's the mindset of the pick and big chance that would be the reality. been said before in here but people continue to bitch so i wanted to say it too
  10. personally I'm assuming Edler will be here next year.. Can't wait to see if torts can light a fire under him!

haha yeah.. but thats what i want to see!

  11. i hope so. i wouldn't feel comfortable letting his skill go until we have someone that at least projects to do any better than he can
  12. sometimes a team needs a new direction. Thanks for everything AV, you turned this team into a contender.

  13. if we could get any kind of compensation pick for weise, i'm in.
  14. awesome, archie hasn't taken a step back since the rough start to his pro career.
  15. played like it was a throw away game up in rochester!

  16. he's shown that next level in the playoffs so far. i don't see why he wouldn't be called up either.
  17. gaunce with the goal to tie it up 2-2!
  18. Miniscule detail, but frank corrado was in the team photo i noticed. seems to me they didn't need to include him. i really think this guy is gonna get his 6+ games this year.

  19. i may just be being difficult but does anyone else hate when ultra positive threads start to pop up? if the playoffs don't go perfectly, these will be the people making all the ignorant angry threads in the off season.

  21. i like that he's showing that he's gotten better. i just don't know if he will be staying with the canucks much longer. he could be in the nhl, but we don't seem to be interest in having him up.
