Jasek was cut from the roster: http://thecanuckway.com/2015/12/24/vancouver-canucks-world-juniors-update-virtanen-rises-jasek-falls/ Vancouver Canucks fans will have one less prospect to cheer for at the 2016 World Juniors, as Lukas Jasek gets cut from the Czech World Juniors team. Jake Virtanen, though, is lighting it up. Lukas Jasek, an 18-year-old Czech who was drafted this past summer by Canucks GM Jim Benning in the late sixth round. Praised by many as a great pick-up late in the draft, the undersized centreman will have to wait another year if he wants to represent his country. So far this season, the hype around Jasek seems to be dying out, mainly driven about his two points in 14 games as part of the HC Trinec. But as an 18-year-old playing in the top Czech hockey league, a steep learning curve should not be too much of a concern for Canucks fans. After all, usually left out of his stat line is the fact that earlier this season at the Czech U20 level, Jasek had 16 points in six games. He is still a great pick at the sixth round, if you ask me. link to the Czech's finialized roster: http://www.worldjunior2016.com/en/teams/czech-republic/#list

I see people saying this about the Hitmen all the time, what makes you say that?
-
me too

Yep. He could even play for the Comets this year if the timing works out, and he signs a contract. (like Larkin last year)
-
He played in the U-18s, not U-20s

Minnesota native and NCAA player = money grubbing Canada hater. My favorite part is the bit about him being close to his mom. Who doesn't love their mother??

Awesome! this is gonna be a fun WJC!

Totally agree. In Kesler's case; the way he handled his exit has nothing to do with nationality. He wanted to be on a contending team, none of the Canadian teams were contenders when he left. It's like a jilted ex-girlfriend claiming all men are pigs when really, it was one dude that broke her heart. Thats what Kesler and Vancouver's relationship was like.

it would be great to be able to see these guys in Utica this year. I'd even throw in Jasek but he'd probably need to have a strong second half to earn such considration.
-
It would be one hell of a match up. Plus, they could opt to throw Schmaltz in with those two. If Schmaltz could move over to wing and produce, that would easily be one of the best lines in the whole tournament!
-
would be dominant. I'm guessing we'll get to see what it looks like during the WJC.

things like what? What have I been lumped into here?

This should be the banner of the prospects page

He's better offensively on the wing. His style is better suited to the wing on defense too. you're all wrong. about everything. always.

I mean, i get the idea behind it from a CHL team's stand point. I look at it as a professional hockey fan though. Having guys playing meaningless seasons in the CHL, as far as their own developement goes, can be a bit frustrating as a fan of a pro team. But i do totally get it from a junior hockey fans point of view. that's why the rule will remain.

yeah. doesn't make a lot of sense. Milano was a USNDTP u-18 player in his draft year, and was comitted to a college team. shortly after the draft, decided to play in the CHL instead of going to college. but since he was drafted out of the USHL, the CHL/NHL agreement didn't apply. Something of a loophole i guess but it takes very specific circumstances to happen. they should just do away with the whole thing IMO.
-
Milano wasn't in the CHL when he was drafter
-
He's a canadian junior so he'll have to wait til his season is over to join the comets on an ATO. His team definitely will not be making the playoffs.

Looks like he was signed today. I don't think it changes anything this year or next; I don't see why it was necessary to get done now but I'm sure they have their reasons. could just be a matter of getting it done while they had time to do so. Congrats!
