  1. Not happy about what? I just think it's important to look out for our team and the value we have accumulated. We want the right assets but not for the wrong price. That's all I'm saying. Perhaps I'm speaking in riddles a bit, but don't get your panties too caught up here.
  2. Rule of thumb: if you are making a trade because you have assets you don't think provide you value, you are in the wrong line of work. EVERY assets that can be traded has value and it sucks to have to let that value go. Otherwise, why is the other team going to want your garbage? Mental state: it's a thing. To get something of value you have to give something of value, by thinking our stuff is crap, you're getting nowhere because how can you expect the other team to think that stuff is good? Think like a businessman and not like a fan for these things. Sell me a pencil, and then sell the other team a Sutter!
  3. Or Pesce turns into a broken egg and, since those players were able to get you Pesce, they're not broken eggs as they had value.... ... otherwise no Pesce....
  4. But if you put all of your eggs in one basket and that basket ends up having a hole it in, you have no more eggs. You don't spend all of your potential assets that you are willing to trade on one player if it is a big over-payment. That's just complete mismanagement. Milbury would do that just to get players he felt would help win now so he'd overpay to get them.... at the expense of Luongo, Chara, Bertuzzi, etc.....
  5. This notion of "being the most active team on the phones" gets me excited and nervous at the same time. Not to mention a part of me's going "yep it's the media saying Vancouver's in on everything every season!" lol
  6. It's kind of funny actually as I was pretty happy as I had hoped we'd draft a defenseman for once and we did. I was sure Tkachuk would turn out well and all, but Juolevi was touted as the best defenseman available at the time. Really, had Juolevi not have the injuries he has had, we likely would have a different tone now. These things happen and they happen on every team. It doesn't mean we drafted poorly since we can't exactly tell if a player's going to get a ton of injuries in the future. Man, if we had that foresight, we'd be consistently the best team in the league year after year. lol
  7. I don't agree with 6.5, but you have to also consider the fact that Parayko signed his contract a couple of years ago and the money on these deals keep going up. Parayko would probably get at least 6.5 nowadays if not more.
  8. There's generally more stats than just points dude. Have you even seen him play? Did you even watch a NYI playoff game? He was pretty solid. Just saying "37 points" tells me you looked at hockeydb and saw a number and made an assumption entirely based on that. Just being honest.
  9. They're okay. Main jerseys are the main jerseys and work for me. The black skate jersey is okay as well and good as a heritage jersey (and I'm honestly glad it's not the main). The stick in the rink heritage, while it's not the greatest, it's not horribly bad either. It's hard to come up with a good jersey when none of our logos are actually good imo. lol
  10. Waiting for Hutton to become a more physical player though is like waiting for Kassian to become that power forward we thought he would be, or Virtanen to become a 1st line power forward, or Taylor Pyatt to not be a pylon and get more physical. None of these players are bad players but expecting them to play how they don't naturally play, while they might be able to develop into that player, it's not an easy path to ask for as evidenced by what we've seen.
  11. Or he won't do anything since the focus of the sport nowadays is to win rather than go for revenge. Revenge via winning basically.
  12. Hey. I completely understand pride in your country and wanting the best for the players from that country. I don't really see it as being much different than the fans here who overvalue our players and undervalue other teams' players. Is it realistic? Probably not, but at least you're not being dismal like some other people on these boards.
  13. More like cue the random people who think we should sign Emil to a contract and use up a contract slot. lol
  14. I just can't say I like this. It's almost similar to when the Ducks moved from their Anaheim Mighty Ducks logo to their current logo, or when Buffalo moved from their initial logo to that silly Buffalo head. One of those moves where it's like "...why?" lol I'd actually even say I prefer most of our bad jerseys to these ones. It's just not attractive. I know some people like the Johnny Canuck logo, and I think it looks great on the sleeve, but not as a main and these examples prove just that to me. That 2nd picture especially is bad in my opinion,
  15. I think the signing was more meant as a mentorship from Marleau more than anything else. You know, that think Edmonton never tried.
  16. Given Sutter's cap hit of over 4mil and given how easy it generally is to get a 3rd line center in this league, I just don't see Avs doing this trade. It's kind of funny really because in another thread, they're saying how Marleau's cap dump should mean Toronto gives up a pick. While Marleau's obviously not Sutter (and older), it's kind of similar with the cap dump scenario if you think about it and this really shows the bias that's on CDC at times. (Also, I'm not saying you were one of those people Warhippy. I'm just saying that as a general statement. If it were Marleau we were trading away, no one here would say we'd have to give up a pick)
  17. Unless if he proves things at the start of next season (and who knows, he might), I totally agree here. Don't rush him. Let him develop. Some people are just impatient. It almost reminds me of the video game industry where everyone wants it now and done perfectly their way, nevermind that there's such a thing as development of the game that has to take place and that there are other people who also play the game that play the game differently!
  18. I'm not a fan of ICBC either, but I'm pretty sure I'd hate the private companies even more and likely would wish we still had ICBC if we went that route. If this is about hate for a company rather than logically thinking about the potential outcome if we ditched said company, I can't back that kind of opinion at all. It's reacting without really thinking about the logic. I guess another example would be with Brexit of all things. Great, they want to leave the EU. Now what? They don't seem to even know that answer!
  19. And how would this put us in a better position? I'm not exactly seeing a lot of thought being put into your post.
  20. Does Colorado see Avalanches all the time? Does San Jose see sharks in the bay? Does LA actually have Kings? Is Calgary constantly up in Flames? (well besides the current Alberta smoke) Is New Jersey full of Devils? Did the Blackhawks fighting actually happen in Chicago or to the west of Chicago along the rivers? What do stars even have to do with Dallas when LA or NY has most of them? Does Florida have panthers? Does Pittsburgh have penguins? Does Buffalo have anything to do with fencing?... I could keep going but the fact is, the orca has more to do with us than the names of a lot of those teams I just mentioned above... In fact, does the name "Canucks" specifically involve Vancouver or was it a derogatory name given to ALL Canadians originally? You want something more representative and yet the very name goes beyond just Vancouver.
  21. But this happens everywhere. Not just BC. Are you going to tell me that people from New Jersey are angels? (I'm assuming that's where you are from by your avatar anyway) Also, it's already been pointed out that not everyone in BC does the stuff you mentioned. Your use of lumping everyone from a geographical region into one group is not only alarming but really ignorant in my opinion.
  22. In fact, here's proof on how bad it is: https://editorinleaf.com/2018/07/22/toronto-maple-leafs-artemi-panarin/ Panarin to the Leafs via trade! Wow.... makes complete sense!.... (like what? lol) That was 10 months ago, but that still doesn't make sense as Tavares was already signed. lol
  23. According to the media, us, Toronto, and Montreal are into every player available every year! Can't be a coincidence that that's where a lot of the fans are! Totally logical stuff (or media clickable stuff for them to make money)
  24. You easily hate people, don't you. lol Do you hate people who make a post you don't like as well?
