  1. Kind of unfortunate how, for some, that's likely going to be the case.
  2. You're "not interested" in it because he's 100% right. Is it really that evil to be wrong about something dude? Just accept that you made a mistake and move on. After all, what kind of person do you want to be in the end? The person who pretends they're "always right" or the person who actually reads what others say and is willing to make a more sound debate? Learn from this.
  3. Honestly, if I'm Chicago, I say no. Bedard's the best player out of all of those assets and not someone you can just trade for. All of the assets you listed are "scraps" compared with Bedard and Chicago would be a fool to take the offer in my opinion. Then there's the whole fact that there are fans in Chicago already buying tickets because of the draft lottery.
  4. People watch way too much Hollywood. While it may seem sometimes "remarkable" what AI is doing right now, it still doesn't think for itself. We literally have to tell the AI what task it needs to achieve and the AI's going to only focus on that one task. We're not at some point where the AI's about to have some existential crisis. The main concern would be humans themselves making an AI that does bad things. I think that should be more concerning than the AI itself. This all being said, the fact that Hollywood's made it a concern will likely mean that it doesn't happen because people will have it on their minds as evidenced by the articles.
  5. I have to agree regarding the dark roast at Tim's actually. It's still not as good as McD's, but it's better than their regular. Still, I just don't go there enough to remember that it's an option. lol
  6. On the flipside though, you could also have doubts about the pick since that pick has probably around a 50% chance of the player even making the NHL. Don't get me wrong. That doesn't mean we shouldn't have picks. It's more just saying there's a risk no matter what direction we take. I guess the question might be more about the timing of getting Hronek. I'd argue he's less of a risk than the pick itself, but it also means we need to be winning sooner than later for this to make sense. There's also the question of cap in the future.
  7. I was going to say I haven't tried Starbucks since I switched to black, but I do recall trying it once during a trip. It was okay-ish if I remember correctly. I just generally don't go there to begin with, probably because it's a 20 minute drive to the nearest one for me so I never felt the need. When I do go there, usually it's for a frappuccino lol Perhaps that changes when I move to Calgary although I tend to prefer to give local places 1st dibs on my service provided they don't charge and arm and a leg. One thing I will say is, ever since I switched to black, I feel like I've developed a further appreciation for good coffee, because it's like a unicorn in the fast food industry. lol
  8. Ever since I switched to drinking black coffee, it's made me realise how bad Tims coffee is. The funny thing is McDonald's in Canada gets its supply from Mother Parker, which used to supply Tims coffee and, ironically enough, since McDonald's had moved to that supplier, the coffee's been much MUCH better than Tims. Tims USED to have good coffee. Although if most people order double doubles, they wouldn't notice anyway because that's hardly coffee anymore given how much cream and sugar's put into that. lol
  9. Reading your other replies to people in this thread, it seems like you are intent on creating stereotypes. How would you like it someone looked at the rural Alberta and then immediately thought Vancouver was in shambles, because that's exactly what you're doing here but just with the states. Parts of the states are having problems and those problems are going to vary from one part of the country to the other. That does not mean that ALL of the states are having those same problems. Consider that Denver is actually a more left part of the states that's less likely to be in shambles. I literally even provided a link of proof of what they are doing in the post you replied to.
  10. Which basically means you became attached to that player, which is fine, but also means you're going to be a little biased about this.
  11. It's a deep enough draft to where I don't think this is worth it: 1) I think we could get a good player at 11 2) I don't think the "change in prospect" is going to be massive between 11 and 3 to even justify things at the proposed price 3) I don't think the proposed payment is enough to even get to 3. There's a reason why you don't generally see such trades happening often. They're expensive.
  12. I prefer Florida on this. They're a team that's hardly done anything over the years and I think they're due for something. Florida in 6
  13. I guess at this point I'm cheering for Dallas, mostly because I'm anti-Vegas.... lol Dallas in 7
  14. I think there's almost too much focus on draft picks when we've already kind of botched having a good team. I think we're in salvage mode at this point in hopes that we can gradually turn it around and maybe put the pieces together in a more "unorthodox" way that doesn't involve a rebuild. For that reason, I'm actually alright with this trade. As much as I would like a rebuild, I also believe in at least trying to work with what we have. Even rebuilds that involve a lot of acquired draft picks don't necessarily work out.
  15. Honestly, it's why I have no problem with Abbostsford using it. It's really more well-suited for the AHL. lol
  16. Well we're going to have to agree to disagree on that. I get why people don't like the initial reasoning why the orca came into being, but it's at least a cleaner look than the Johnny Canuck and the Skate in my opinion. That being said, the stick-in-rink would be the cleanest one based on what I've mentioned; however, I'm honestly of the mindset of we don't have any good logos, at least when compared with some of the other NHL teams. We really have the issue of having an identity crisis based on our past. It really shows how important it is to get the logo right at the beginning. Unfortunately, we didn't do that. To be fair though, coming up with an actual good logo for the name "Canucks"... that's not exactly an easy task.
  17. It's the penguins logo but more busy. You're welcome to think it's a perfect logo in your mind, but I fully disagree. I can see it being used as a fun 3rd/special jersey, but as a main jersey it doesn't do it for me. I'd want something cleaner overall (which is probably also why I don't like the skate logo as that's also busy).
  18. Anyway, I'm likely not going to have time to debate any further on things for a week as I'm about to go to bed for a flight. lol
  19. Again, these are just assumptions. Can you provide examples of this happening?
  20. Yes, I do. I don't see why they wouldn't spend time and resources for the reasons I mentioned. Now I'm not saying him coming over here wouldn't be beneficial at all. I think it's just more a question of whether or not it would be more beneficial, which obviously is the debate here. Honestly, I don't think anyone's going to know that answer.
  21. You're just assuming they're not going to care. All you have to do is think why they would care to realise how little merit what you're saying has. Will the team he's on want to win games? Yes, what team doesn't? Will his development throughout the season help them win games? Yes. Does developing prospects well give the team more goodwill towards the NHL? Also yes. So to say they won't "give two sh!ts" about his development doesn't really make much sense. Of course they're going to care. If a team doesn't care like that... they have bigger problems than just development.
  22. While this is true, consider also the fact that if someone who needs mental help has someone who can actually help him mentally show up rather than a cop... that's one less call for the cop. That's less money that has to go to fixing damages caused by that person if that person actually gets help. So the funding needs to happen at first, but the savings from that funding are likely to outweigh that initial cost. It's just that governments and people are often too afraid of change and focus too much on debating if it would work or not and then not getting anything done about it as a result. Yet, it's already been proven to help in places around the world where's itls been implemented. Denver is a good example of this. Here's even literally the 1st link I saw on Google to back me up: https://www.futurity.org/mental-health-police-911-2750812-2/#:~:text=New research uncovers the strongest, enforcement in nonviolent 911 emergencies When literally the states are even ahead of us on this.... that doesn't happen often. lol
  23. My guess is it could largely depend on how many other Russians also decide to come over at the same time. I think it would make a lot of sense if a lot of Russians suddenly decided it was better to play over here given how a certain economy's collapsing to say the least. Actually, thinking on that, then the question would be is Tryamkin even the best option of that group at the end of the day? Perhaps there's someone even better available who would sign a deal like Kuzmenko did.
  24. I kept looking at the team stats of that year after that post and thought about adding more but... wow... that year in particular I remember being excited for players like Hutton and Sbisa and Stetcher. So glad to see they all worked... out.... for... us...
  25. I'm fine with him proving himself here. I want to make that clear at least. I'm not against him coming here; nor, have I hopefully presented in a way where I wouldn't be willing to give him a shot. I do admire your positivity and conviction with these players. I guess I'm just more of a "if it happens great, if not.. meh?" kind of attitude with this? I want to see our defense get better and, if he's another 3rd liner.. we have those. Like you said though, maybe he can prove people wrong. Those 79 games though... we didn't have a good team. We were very much on the decline at that point. Do you know what defenseman scored the most points for our team the year Tryamkin played the most games for us? Stetcher at a whopping 24 points. That's the level of competition Tryamkin had to stay on the team. lol Our highest point producer period was Horvat at 52 points. On a random note, part of me wishes the "contrary to myself" was implying I played less NHL games because it'd mean I like... played NHL games. lol
