  1. Of course. It's just that infections are the easiest stat at this point to come up with. It's certainly going to be far worse under the hood, especially for the unvaccinated.
  2. Oh sorry... 77% in BC.... but not a 50/50 split. I call your lie.... https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/covid-19-update-sept8-1.6167993
  3. Where's the 50/50 split? Most stats I've seen have been from 80% to 96%.
  4. I don't see it as a cycle at all. Let me ask you this: would you prefer to have LE, Beagle, and Roussel contracts still or would you prefer the OEL and Poolman contracts? If any improvement is thought of with all of that.... what is the cycle exactly? A moving up trend? That being said, I don't like Drance. I think he llike to pull shenanigans for the sake of views and listeners (like much of the other media does mind you).
  5. I don't know. I don't really think it's a contract that's going to come back to bite us even if he doesn't turn out. It's certainly much better than the LE, Beagle, and Roussel signings.
  6. It's true though. It may seem like insanity, but that's who the majority are who are getting infected now. There is overwhemling evidence to support all of this as well. Take a look at any area on the continent as of late and take a look at who's getting infected. It's the people who are unvaccinated. 20% of the population is creating the current pandemic.
  7. Perhaps then it depends on where you live how you view things? I recall here in BC restrictions only somewhat starting to get lifted at the beginning of July. It seemed like we were getting out of the clear to me at that point and I honestly did not expect the 4th wave to be this bad; therefore, based on my own experience and what I expected, it doesn't seem that bizarre to me if Hamonic thought even remotely like how I thought.
  8. Yet, not taking a vaccine and killing others as a result is any better? Is picoting hospitals and blocking people from the ER any better? You talk about absolute freedom.... well your freedom would call for violence against others.
  9. Go ahead. Call out people who want justice against the ones who put themselves above everyone else, which is exactly what you are doing. If this makes me look bad, this makes you look 1000x worse. Your wanting of freedom is fake.
  10. I'm glad to see Poolman showing why we signed him. Too many people in the Poolman signing thread seemed to want to prematurely call it a bad signing. Hopefully he can keep it up and be good for us long term.
  11. I think the real irony with all of this is how nudity in public is considered socially unacceptable... but "how dare someone tells these people to wear a mask".
  12. Keep in mind that, back when the contract was signed, it would have been before the 4th wave of coronavirus. Things were looking better than they are now. Even if you consider that fact alone and nothing else, it turns out to not be a bizarre situation at all.
  13. I guess I just don't know if I see it as a full solution mostly due to the fact that a lot of students don't take school seriously enough. It's also a very VERY long-term solution that isn't going to fix anything in the short term.
  14. I can agree with this. There are not a lot of occupations out there that need trig; whereas everyone can use finance and statistics. Another one I would like to see are basic coding skills being mandatory.
  15. What's wrong with being surprised?
  16. People just need to temper their expectations on the kid. I've seen so many people saying something along the lines of him being the next coming of Jesus. If those are the expectations, it's no wonder why people get so easily disappoiinted. The likelihood of him being good right out of the gate on a smaller ice rink in a faster league was going to be questionable at best. I get you guys are excited to have him over here, but please: give the kid some time. Edit: Also, I don't expect him to have a top notch hockey IQ. I expect him to be a big solid winger that gives it his all: a player that can go get the puck.
  17. The way I see it, no harm no foul with seeing what he can do. Worse comes to worse he's our next Pouliot, but if he's improved since Detroit, then it's like finding money.
  18. Anyway, I don't mean to lash out at people, but after all the personal news I've been hearing lately, I'm just done with people who pretend they're all about "free speech".
  19. Good for you? I honeslty do not care if you don't like me opinion since I don't care for your opinion either. I don't believe in authoritarianism but I also don't believe in people hiding behind free speech while killing others indirectly as a result. The fact that you need to associate what I said with "authoritarianism" shows just how extreme you have to go in order to make me sound bad. Yet, I said nothing about authoritarianism. We'll have to agree to disaagree since I believe, those who would hide behind a facade of freedom while destroying others' liberties to live need to learn what freedom actually is. I will not believe you to be a "free speech absolutionist" while people around me are dying from that very mentality.
  20. For now they are active and healthy. Covid has literally made people with your mentality though have a change of mind after it's too late. You may be "pro choice" but so are the people who got vaccinated. By your decision, you are neglecting the wishes of the majority to get rid of this pandemic. You are effectively the person shouting fire in a full movie theatre and, for that, I have the pro choice to choose not to respect you as you are not respecting the majority. I want to be clear on a couple of things: I'm done with this pandemic and I'm done with the anti-vaxxers (and people who refuse to vaccinate in general) who would put themselves over others at the cost of countless lives. I want this pandemic gone. I've seen way too much death, and it's just going to continue because of people who refuse to vaccinate. Rights only should ever go so far when it involves death. Free speech has its limits.
  21. We need to restructure how our education is done in general to actually reflect life after school but no changes in that regard seems to ever get made. As a result, I have little faith what you are suggesting would get done nor would it be effective enough. I see the conflicting problems as the following: 1) An individual is given a lot of power through social media which can easily be abused 2) The regulation of free speech on social media is a slippery slope
  22. Do you have a link that shows where they get their findings? I'd genuinely like to be able to see what they do and how they get their results. In terms of expectations, this still doesn't account for what I said with the North division of last year being tough and our division of this year likely being easier. I'd like you to address this point rather than try and tip toe around it. I'm not denying that having players step up will be beneficial for us (obviously) but I just don't think it's as vital as you think it is, which I'm not surprised given our previous conversations. You seem easily paniced. lol
  23. A lot of those rankings though are likely based on Vegas' success, of which is pretty evident Seattle went a different route. Truth is, no one really knows how well Seattle will do in its 1st year so all of those rankings are going to be guesses at best since there's not a lot of prior knowledge to go by. I don't think we'll necessarily need career years to get into the playoffs given our division's not nearly as tough as the Canadian division of last year (remember, 6 of 7 Canadian teams were considered to be good teams from the get go). We might have even made the playoffs last year if it was a normal year, but clearly it wasn't a normal year in more ways than one.
  24. I think the problem is whenever you have a league trying to get as much money as possible over a long period of time, things start getting out of hand and "norns" that shouldn't exist in the 1st place start to happen. As much as Lehner is a loose cannon, the more exposure that can happen with how management treats players, good or bad, the better. Do we, as fans, want to be cheering for a hockey team, or do we want hockey to turn into a "gladiator's sport" where we expect out players to effectively "fight to the death"?
  25. I don't know. I think the cup is more of a crap shoot than anything and a lot of it's based on luck. If you're talking about regular season D then sure, but come playoffs, you never know who ends up stepping up their game to the point of being tough to play against. You also never know when a goalie will get hot and when they get cold. Sometimes just having enough good D is enough to get there. Also, sometimes having "cup level D" isn't enough to get there.
