I've been on this board long enough to know there are a lot of people who like to "pretend" they are experts or have some crystal ball. I don't think lemmings suits most people here at all. People are way too ([perhaps foolishly) headstrong here for that. Also, it doesn't seem to matter if one has played hockey or not. I've noticed knowledgable people who have never played a game in their life. I've also noticed hockey players who are so set in their ways that they might as well just forget they played hockey in the 1st place. The ones I respect are the ones who are willing to listen to another's opinion and consider it. Those people are the actual knowledgable people in the end as they're willing to learn, willing to understand, willing to weigh ideas.

You guys overthink way too much. Maybe give the guy some games 1st before judging at the very least? (Even then, only a few games is not a lot of time to let him get adjusted to a new team) Don't get me wrong. I get that you guys are passionate about this team and that's great, but I'm wondering if some of you are just here to be negative about anything and everything.

Because there are fully healthy people in their 30's who become unhealthy from the virus. You want breathing problems the rest of your life just because you "don't believe in vaccines?" Is it really worth it at that point? There are literally hockey players right now with lingering issues from the virus. Fully healthy hockey players on perfect diets and exercise. You are not invunerable to this. If you think you are, you're lying to yourself because you're not.

What's even the point of making posts like these? Horvat will likely be here in 2 years unless if something happens in the meantime to make him want to bolt. If you immediately start thinking the worst is going to happen, you might as well just expect the team to be perpetually bad forever and become the most negative person in the world. Seriously, these are the kinds of people I personally don't want to be around because there is no point in being this pessimistic. Life isn't as bad as this to literally think Horvat won't be here in 2 years. It's just not worth thinking this way. Could it happen? Sure, but why think it will? What's the purpose of thinking it will? What actual benefit do you get from thinking like this? Chin up dude.

Obvious reactions aside, he sounds like an abusive husband trying to control whether or nor his wife gets vaccinated.

Pretty much my number one point. A top forward in the NHL typically plays maybe a 1/3rd of the game and is typically paid more than a defender eating more minutes. As you've stated, a top NBA player plays most of the game; thus, is granted a greater impact on the outcome of the game. -
There's bound to be a few players like this and none of those players will have my sympathy. Either vaccinate and play or don't vaccinate and not play. A player can throw in the "human rights" card all they way, but all of the vaccinated players also have "human rights" to not have to deal with such crap.

This is true. Either way, escalating the situation would just be a bad move.

I feel we're perhaps a little too "utilitarian" for this to happen. Consider that this would hurt us in more way than one. They're technically our 2nd highest trading partner (albeit it doesn't even come close to the US). I can also see them detain more Canadians as a result of this. I guess my question to this would be whether or not World War 3 would be a war of diplomacy.

Jack Eichel no longer captain of Sabres
The Lock replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in General Hockey Discussion
I think the biggest losers of this whole debauckle are the fans. They're the ones who ultimately have to go through all of this while still having a team that doesn't perform on the ice. The closest thing I can think of with us would be what happened with Hodgson and his injuries. Imagine if Hodgson was the captain of our team going through what he went through instead of just developing. That's kind of what Buffalo's going through right now. -

I don't see this happening at all to be honest for the following reasons: 1) There's less players on an NBA team than an NHL team meaning a typical NBA player has more impact usually than a typical NHL player. 2) As a result of point 1, an NBA player typically has more say in where they go 3) There's more money in the NBA than in the NHL, there are more fans, etc. 4) There's a salary cap. It's just too different of a league than the NHL to even begin to fathom such a thing happening in my opinion. -

People are really quick to judge here. The situation is likely even more complicated than what it seems on the surface. Remember that there's usually 3 sides to every story: the 2 sides involved and the truth. -
[Proposal] Van - SJ Kane comes home
The Lock replied to Odjick the Warrior's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Kane is not worth it. There's reportedly teammates in San Jose who want him gone. What makes you think he'd fair any better here? Do you really think someone like JT Miller's going to put up with Kane's crap? I can already see the controversies before they happen. lol Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if Kane's career in the NHL is over at this point. Not because of skill but because of reputation. He probably has the worst reputation in the NHL. Even Virtanen's reputation feels like nothing compared with Kane's in my opinion. -
I think it's easy to get frustrated and upset right now. I totally get that. Biggest thing I'd say is that I think it's important for us to not let those people drag us down to their level of stupidity just because we're upset at them.
-
I can only imagine how many different lines would be drawn on what's stupid and deserves no health care and what's not,.. and I can't see any line being the same. lol I'm not denying your ability to decide, but I can't promise a solution based on what I just said. lol
-
I don't disagree with that at the very least. I just don't agree with cutting out healthcare to these people altogether.
-
And there in lies where their mistake is and, ultimately, it's a mistake that costs lives. But really this shouldn't be about what we deem as being a mistake or not. All in all, it just plain sucks that we're in this mess because people would rather put their own conspiracies above human life.
-
Without a choice, you can't make a mistake since mistake imply you had a choice to begin with. It's a choice that they've made that's a mistake in my opinion.
-
I just can't agree with this man. I have my limits. lol If people aren't allowed to make mistakes, we might as well only give surgery to perfectionists.
-
Agreed. If we start denying treatment now based on "stupidity", where do we even draw that line of what's stupid and what's not? It's a slippery slope.

(Signing) Rasmus Dahlin - 3 years 6M
The Lock replied to 70seven's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
QAnon said the same thing during the election.... Although I can at least see you're setting it up so "anything can happen" while being able to say "I told you so". Sneaky way to pretending to know things you don't. lol Either say what you mean now or shut up. I want to see that you actually know what you're talking about. -

The Lock replied to Bertuzzipunch's topic in Canucks Talk
Different players have different personalities; thus, they need to be taught differently, have different roles etc. I'm sure there are some day-to-day jobs you would hate to have. Would you want to have to be taught those if you could do a job you love while still being productive instead? -

Maybe, but would you prefer that or would you prefer him getting signed at this point? I doubt anyone knows what the value of the contract will end up being but I feel there's a few people here who want their cake and be able to eat it too.
