But how does that make it a workplace specific hazard? Keep in mind that the flu has killed people as well and smoking is something that can literally be prevented by simply not smoking in the workplace, unlike flus and covid.

Canucks requiring covid vaccination for staff and fans
The Lock replied to cuporbust's topic in Canucks Talk
And what exactly are you trying to prove here with this? For the record, I don't think the government's done the best job they can as they made some questionable decisions, but having people wear masks is not one of them. Remember that masks won't stop the spread outright but will still prevent a lot of transmissions from occuring and that's the point behind them. The people who's "claim" that masks aren't "perfect" in stopping the spread tend to miss the entire point behind masks since masks aren't meant to entirely stop the spread. -

In what way does agent's comment have to do with whether or not a GM is good or bad? Points make more money than defense. That's it. That's the market. If you try to connect that to whether a GM is good or bad, you might as well be saying what you have for lunch today determines whether a GM is good or bad. -
Canucks requiring covid vaccination for staff and fans

The sad part is, if this is true, a lot of it's the fault of the people who refuse to vaccinate. We have a chance to prevent this from happening if everyone gets on board. The problem is, not everyone's getting on board. But, "talk" does not necessarily mean "will happen" either. I think we should acknowledge there's a difference there. -

It's because the 25% of people who are refusing the vaccination (or at least hesitant) and the delta variant are enough to cause the next wave. Also, the fact that things have been loosesning up doesn't help in restraining the spread. That's it. No need for extra conspiracy theories. The way I see it, two things can be thought of here: 1) If we were not vaccinated by now, this would have been much worse. 2) If we hadn't loosened our mask restrictions, this would have been a little better. Outside of that, I don't see the point in thinking we'd need a 3rd of 4th shot. The situation we are in makes perfect sense if you sort it out logically. -
Even with the past years, there is still a difference there. Zetterberg and Pronger are not even playing anymore and Player Name was just a bad contract to begin with. At least with OEL, his "bad" years are still better than a lot of other defenders in this league. Perhaps this wasn't the intention, but I just don't think it's fair to really throw him under the bus at this point when he's starting fresh and we haven't even seen what he'll be like here. Your point could have been just as easily made without his name so there wasn't even a legitimate reason to throw him in the conversation in the first place in my opinion.

Here. Let me edit this post just so you can make fun of me too if it makes you feel better about attacking others ratrher than providing something of substance. Double edit: And totally bring the paper bags because this whole thing is that dumb. I agree with that which is my point. I want to read substance, not kids fighting and kicking and screaming. I know I'm guilty of that at times too so I get it, but hopefully you understand.

Jake Virtanen banner still up at Rogers place ( article)
The Lock replied to cuporbust's topic in Canucks Talk
Either 1) They know this whole thing is stupid but know it'll get views because of it Or 2) They have nothing else to write about at the moment. Either way it's sad journalism at best. -
Because people want to try and understand things better before making a decision. There are people who don't just jump to conclusion with 1 side or the other, as how it should be. If you can't understand this, I can't help you. You accuse people of just immediately siding with Jake. Well, you're immeditately siding with the other side. You're no different from the people you're accusing other than being on the other side. I say let things play out and see who ends up right in the end rather than completely believing one side or the other. Personally, that's what I'm doing.

Pettersson uncertain about future with Canucks ( article)
The Lock replied to cuporbust's topic in Canucks Talk
I want to point out that, just because a couple of players have taken team friendly deals doesn't mean everyone else has to. As easy as it is to say "oh these guys are making millions anyway" or "players should take a paycut so the team can win", these is still their decisions. It's their lives and nor our lives. Would it be nice if they did take a paycut? Of course, but they don't have to and us expecting them to is nothing more than us being selfish more than it would be them being selfish if they don't in my opinion. That being said, there's nothing wrong with having hopes of having a good deal in place. Hoping and expecting are 2 different things afterall. -

[Signing] Canucks re-sign Brandon Sutter
The Lock replied to cuporbust's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
This is very true. It seems that some fans (or even a lot of fans) almost expect what could be thought of as unrealistic perfection and when that perfection doesn't happen (ie. even a slight overpayment), they freak out. And outside of his contract, he's been a very important piece for us; yet, so many seem to forget or ignore that. -

I guess I just don't really understand what can we're kicking down the road in this case. -

$1.5mil is not exactly that difficult to bring under the cap given we're not even talking about this year. Chill dude. We have an entire year to figure that out. -

Watch Sutter become beloved by the fans for a change. Feels refreshing as the guy's a great hockey player, he was just overpaid. He deserves more love. -

Tell you what. I'll agree that it's a gamble. However, I'm going to disagree if there's any expectations that he will fail at this point because, again, there's no real proof and every acquisition is going to be different. There's speculation based on his role in Winnipeg, but it's just speculation and not enough to form a solid opinion at the end of the day in my opinion. -

Like I said, I need proof on it. I'm not going to just take your word on it. I'm even reserved on whether or not he's a good player. I'm waiting to see proof on if he's a good player or a bad player. Your word kind of means nothing to me in that regard. -

So "he's an NHL player" is your reasoning? You're a forum poster; therefore, so many people against you means you don't make good posts. Similar logic but is it true? -

Yet, they made the playoffs. Do we claim that Hedman's a bad defenseman during the time Tampa Bay got swept by Columbus? Sure, Winnipeg's weak point might have been defense, but how does that translate to it being Poolman's fault? Even if they didn't resign him, that doesn't immediately mean it was his fault either. I get that it's easy to jump to conclusions on things but that's just what it ends up being: jumping to conclusions. Unless if I actually hear that Poolman's a bad player (with actual proof, ie. not "my friend told me") I don't see reason to believe he was the reason for anything at this point. -

Yeah. They were trying something different. That's it. Nothing more needs to be read into it.
