  1. Never forget how Craig MacEwen leveraged his position at Sportsnet to get hired by the Canucks within their PR department.

    https://media.canucks.com/media-services/communications-staff

He used Sportsnet 650 as a platform for pumping the tires of the Canucks' organization staff as a way of showcasing himself for a PR position. Now this forum is shutting down. I don't think it is a coincidence that the guy who wanted a ton of control over how information about the Canucks is being communicated is also in a position to shut this place down.

To the people who made the decision to shut this forum, you clearly don’t realize how important this is to those of us fans who don’t live in Vancouver.

No one I know in real life is a fan here in Ottawa so it is through this forum that I sustain my fandom and keep spending loads of money on this team.

I hope the new forum succeeds but if it doesn’t, I hope the financial losses resulting from diminished sense of fandom of Canucks fans across the world come from your personal salaries you absolute twats!

They did. The Canucks' media team repeatedly let them know. The people who made these decisions just simply did not care.

Time and time again the powers that be within the Canucks organization fail to give stock to the opinions of the fanbase, whether it be reflected on this message board or via meetings with Season Ticket Holders.

We repeatedly hear things in the media about how "fans won't tolerate a rebuild". This hardly reflects the sentiment of fans that I observed across multiple platforms. Instead, it reflects ownership effectively lying about how the fanbase feels to justify their own course of action.

The Makavelli short vid exposing league dbl standards for 'dem Broongoons. It was so well done.

Saniel Dedin often made me laugh..that was long ago. Crazy b*gger was one of a kind.

Personally had battled the blues for a long period. This place was ideal to take one's mind away from matters one couldn't sort out. Thank you to any/all, who kept it interesting, informative, kind, joyful & civil.

Man, I really miss those videos done by Mak. They were absolutely elite.

I'm no spring chicken anymore either, but there are things that happened in the 80s that seemed entirely appropriate, even friendly and engaging - and nobody would've been able to fathom how they could be misconstrued, but now they're friggin' weird.

Remember everybody freaking out about Biden rubbing girls shoulders and stuff? He's just old. Suuuuper creepy, but not ill-intentiond, he's just old and the world changed.

Babcock asked Mitch Marner personal information and then used it against him and harmed his relationship with teammates.

I don't know that Babcock has earned the benefit of the doubt that looking into the personal lives of players is being done with negative intentions. On its own, the average 60-year old asking  to see photos on the phone of a 20-year old is weird, but certainly not harmful nor sinister. It could be easy to see how they were just trying to show that they care about who that individual is as a person. However, since Babcock is not the average 60 year old and has a history of pathologically manipulative behavior, he doesn't necessarily have a right to the benefit of doubt from everyone.

It sounds to me like both sides of this story are 100% true.

There's an old dude legitimately trying to be chummy and says, 'hey it would be nicer to see those tiny pictures on the big screen, and they even learned me how to do that technology'.

There are members of a younger generation that feel weird about that, because it's legitimately a little weird.

Intentions and the way they are received can be very different, especially with regard to generational stuff. No chance my dad could tell you why this was weird.

I have no idea what happened, but I definitely agree that there is a massive generational divide when it comes to photos. Babcock is from an era of photo albums and having company over and showing photos from a trip to illustrate who you are. The Kent Johnson generation does not think this way. Photos on their phone and photos on Instagram are dramatically different concepts. I can see how young guys would react and instead of talking to the coach run to Biz.

If Babcock is genuinely trying to turn over a new leaf it would suck for this sort of thing to get in the way of that. His past is really messed up, and I don't know that he deserves another chance to coach an NHL team, but there also needs to be room to allow people to change if they are trying to be better.

I’m pretty sure Biz has to talked to actual players on Columbus, I don’t think he’d be putting himself out there like this on some flimsy rumour.

Let’s not forget his history here. There’s a reason why his former players have called him out.

“A leopard can’t change its spots”

If 10 years ago or whatever someone told me that Babcock made Mitch Marner write down the names of players on the Leafs who he didn't think worked hard and then ratted Marner out to those teammates, I would have called BS. I would have said that there is no way a professional coach would do something as weird as this.

The report this morning also sounds like complete BS. But unfortunately, because its Babcock, at this point based on the information that is available I'd say its impossible to rule anything out.

    Doesn’t work in Sweden.

That is old school to motivate players like the coach is some Gordon Ramsey leader.

There is a reason they disappear when a society develops into a modern community.

Babs acted in a completely different way than an ordinary dickhead.

The Haka New Zealand rugbyplayers do is much, much better to motivate payers and get them in game mode.

An old school coach like Babs can motivate players from that old school culture… Canada maybe. B)

I think the thing that most drives me nuts is when people talk about Babcock as an old school coach. Petty lying, psychological manipulation, and abusing the trust of teenagers has never, in the history of time, been an 'old school' philosophy.

Old school means being harsh, tough, and honest. Old school means letting people know where you stand and giving things to people straight.

Babcock's tactics have never been part of the old school tradition. He literally went and got a degree in psychology to make him better at manipulating other people.

This is a bigger blow than we realize....DJ added a power element that neither Kirk, nor Heineman bring....he's also a solid defensive catcher and although he's not a burner, he gets down the line in about half the time it takes Kirk to get there and he can score from second on a single....

Not sure how many have noticed, but the Jays haven't gone yard in quite a while...

They homered the game before last (Schneider, who else).

Losing Jansen is still a huge blow though. It makes Kirk an extreme liability given you can't really pinch-run for him without having any sort of proven catcher to back him up.

The Jays' broadcast has been praising the team's improved play with RISP... but this is basically entirely thanks to Schneider and Clement.

Bo being back will be huge. I think his absence will prove he's the most valuable player on this team.

I don't mean this to be insulting; I genuinely think Vladdy would benefit from a sports psychologist. He's the complete opposite of Schneider; every plate appearance seems like he has a different plan in mind.

  10. I used to get hyped for MMA more than just about any other sport. Over the last 3-4 years I feel like I've really lost enthusiasm. Up until about a month ago, I didn't even realize that Edwards had defended his belt against Usman. I regularly miss events. I especially don't care to watch any of the PPV build-up / pre-fight stuff. Izzy is fighting tonight and I just don't care.

Anybody else experience this? Has the UFC lost some of its steam, have my interests changed, or am I just depressed lol?

Carolina anticipates that things will look a little different after UFA signings and poaching the waiver wire. We also expect Phil Kessel and Nick Ritchie to be competing for roster spots. We have a healthy amount of cap space and a variety of prospects, including:

    Gabriel Perreault

    Matthew Wood

    Ethan Gauthier

None of our prospects are untouchable.

We will also be revising our front office budget:

    40M Player Relations

    20M Medical

    20M Minors Budget
