  1. I love watching Bedard, but TSN's persistent mentioning of records is exhausting.
  2. Fleishmann is in Trouble: 9/10 Really enjoying this one. Very slow and not a ton happens, but it is a good character study and a look at divorce from different angles.
  3. Glass Onion (Knives Out): 8/10 Ten minutes in and I wanted to turn it off. The main characters (aside from the Inspector) all represent social media tropes that I just don't care to see on my screen. I preferred the first movie where the characters represented traditional 'old money' awfulness. However, after those first few minutes, I really fell into things and enjoyed the movie. By the end, I kind of came to the realization that this new version of social media influencers, celebrities, pop culture politicians, etc., are the new classical heinous persons. The whodunit genre has certain character archetypes and I get the director's desire to update those archetypes for the 21st century. I can't really say anything else about the movie without spoiling it, but if you get passed the first ten minutes and view the characters through a different lens, I think most will appreciate the movie.
  4. It started before that when he called one of the Thai cave rescuers a "pedo" for mocking his idea about how to initiate the rescue. He was successful in having the lawsuit dismissed and never looked back in terms of saying anything he wanted to on Twitter.
  5. It is hard to imagine that this hasn't been explained to them by someone at some point during the last decade.
  6. When I think about maximizing your potential I think about Biega. Guy gave it his absolute all.
  7. The AHL's points leader is a defenceman and is also now property of the Kings. Hoping he gets an opportunity in Tampa Bay.
  8. You're reading an article that is out of date.... this was in reference to last Summer's tournament. That's why is says "Earlier this month" in reference to the draft.
  9. Lol. Dana and the MMA community have been quite silent about what a POS Kadyrov is. I wonder if this will change Dana's tune. Paddy made himself very unlikeable this week. He reminds me of Conor only in the sense that he'll act however he thinks he needs to act in a given situation to get what he wants. He's as disingenuous as it comes. Bryce Mitchell got to learn that being the smartest inbred at the ho-down doesn't count for crap. EDIT: foul language... are the CDC censors no longer working? I figured it would just auto-correct my swears lol.
  10. That's literally the definition of a tautology. There are reasons why shooting percentages are higher in some areas of the ice than others, and possibly giving up possession for a low percentage play is simply bad hockey.
  11. Regarding tampering, the other day Frank Seravalli put it out there that a team was willing to offer Bo 9 million. I don't know how that isn't tampering. You're basically using the media to indirectly begin contract negotiations.
  12. LAK recall Alex Galchenyuk once trade call complete.
  13. I believe I have the final pick for Mr. Irrelevant. Simon Nemec Zack Ostapchuk Liam Ohgren Isak Rosen Olen Zellweger Simon Nemec Team Sweden That was as efficient a draft as I've ever been part of. Thanks @AriGold
  14. Hope Morocco gets knocked out just so I don't have to hear their fans. Worse than the vuvuzelas.
  15. Pick 1: Liam Ohgren Pick 2: Zack Ostapchuk Back to @thejazz97 / @AriGold
  16. Excited to select first overall Olen Zellweger. @thejazz97
  17. Social media use is correlated with depression but the directionality of this relationship appears to be depression-->social media use rather than social media use-->depression. https://psycnet.apa.org/buy/2018-61357-001
  18. Depression and anxiety influenced problematic smartphone use. Smartphone use did not influence depression/anxiety: https://doi-org.proxy.lib.sfu.ca/10.1016/j.addbeh.2021.106978 Study used cross-lagged models to account for temporal order. Be wary of correlational studies relying on cross-sectional data.
  19. A pretty simple counterpoint is that having anxiety/depression would influence withdrawing from social interactions. I'm not saying that this is the case, just that it is really stupid to have such a strong opinion based on the data presented here.
