  1. I should make a stat tracker like in the prospects forum. I mostly just watch the mlb.com gamecentre page (http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2016_05_31_nyamlb_tormlb_1#game=2016_05_31_nyamlb_tormlb_1,game_state=Live) simultaneous to watching the game on TV I used to get frustrated watching EE because some days he'd be extremely patient and others he'd be very aggressive. The thing is, he can have success both ways. To me he is like a wild card. I don't think you get too worried about EE having a .250 avg. He keeps pitchers guessing a lot and I think that throws off a rhythm. Colabello was the worst when it came to driving up pitch counts. When Martin struggles, he seems to really fight at pitches instead of taking them and thus does poorly at getting the pitch count up. Not that I'm the expert, but what I wanted from the Jays batting 7-9 was an ability to take pitches/eat up the pitch count so that Donaldson and Bautista had opportunities to see what the pitcher was doing. Those two don't just chill in the dugout and wait for their turn, they're real students. You need 7-9 in the order to provide them with the material.
  2. I am no defender of Shapiro (not that I hate him, just don't have an opinion), but AA traded away a lot of assets (I'm fine with that), meaning that there is not a lot left in the cupboard to land a sure-thing for the bullpen.
  3. " Toronto’s relievers have allowed 41 per cent of inherited runners to score"
  4. I don't think the episode was 'boring' as much as it was 'interesting information presented with a lack of creativity'.
  5. I'd like her to move on from there. Kill the girl, take her face, but she spent hundreds of nights sleeping in crap conditions repeating the names of people that she wants to kill. Its time to do something about it.
  6. I really want someone to stitch together all of Danys preachy little rants to see how much screen time was actually eaten up by her talking about how she is entitled to something.
  7. I like Bautista as a ball player, but really think he needs to shut his mouth over this Odor stuff. Incident happened a couple weeks ago and he keeps bringing it up. Talked today about how he thinks Odor's throw to first was intentionally aimed at his head. Need to get the head wrapped around winning and using June as a springboard the way the Jays took off last year.
  8. I've been kind of obsessed with keeping track of pitch counts. Last summer it seemed like once JB and Donaldson had seen around 60 pitches a HR/double was almost automatic.
  9. Goins helped turn 2 double plays and then backs up his inning ending DP with a HR to lead off the 5th. I don't think he'll stay but he's maybe my favorite guy to watch on defence.
  10. Estrada has been working pretty efficiently so far today... who comes in to close if Osuna is out?
  11. He definitely just say there and took abuse, but I don't know if it was because he was being meek. He had to take it because, even though he wanted to stand up to him, more important was ensuring that Gilly and baby had a place to stay. I think stealing the sword was to, at least in part, make up for the fact that he was berated at dinner and felt he didn't really have the option to respond. Once he decided he didn't care what his father thought, he now had the option to get it back/defy his father without worry about consequence.
  12. Dany has not changed in six seasons. GoT writers seem to love ending on a corny Danyerus speech/moment. About time Arya figured out she didn't want any part of that. Pretty stoked to see two 12 year old girls duel it out. I also thought it was kind of stupid that Benjen waited that long to say 'Oh hi, btw I'm your Uncle'. Episode definitely introduced/set a lot of things up, but one of the weakest of the season IMO.
  13. Late on this, but I feel like Carrera keeps getting pitch-hit for; must be frustrating for a guy who was 3 for 3 on the day and hitting at .383.
  14. Another Jay that can't lay down a bunt. Looking forward to Greg Zaun teeing off.
  15. Jays get Price to throw 45 pitches in two innings/before they even go through the order again. Then their big three go down on like 5-6 pitches. I don't think you'd see the same approach last summer. Those three guys would usually have a pitcher figured out after seeing so many pitches; a little too rushed now.
  16. He's been better his last few outings IMO. I know he got roughed up by the Yankees last start but I still think he pitched relatively well in that game.
  17. Pillar and Saunders keep hitting lights out in the bottom of the order and then get thrown into lead-off/clean-up and can't hit anything.
  18. Not that having Tulo out is a positive, but if there is a silver lining, its that there will be more of an opportunity to evaluate the Travis/Goins/Barney logjam.
  19. They talked about it on the broadcast, but as more of a newcomer, my impression was simply that the two were not on the same page regarding what pitch Osuna was comfortable with in that position. It is nice to get that extra insight to see how they can play games with the batter.
  20. Stroman is the guy you build around, but for my $, Happ has pitched the best; he had one disastrous outing and that's it. Estrada just goes about his business more quietly.
  21. Martin definitely impressing on the defensive end today. Great positioning on an errant throw by Travis and then a great block on a ball in the dirt by Floyd. Unfortunatley his approach at the plate in the 9th was especially poor. Down on three straight pitches, chased up high on the second pitch and tried to hit the ball into the next time zone on the first and third. Happ with another gem. Only four SPs have a lower ERA than him over the last year.
  22. I've never pitched nor do I have much insight into the mind of a pitcher, but if I'm allowed to take a guess, I feel like more diversity in the Jay's lineup might make a pitcher a little less comfortable, less able to fall into a rhythm. You've got JB, JD, EE, Martin, and Tulo all R-handed power hitters (Tulo maybe a bit more hit-for-avg in the past). To me, that seems like murderers row, who on Earth would want to face that order? However, if you know the guy at bat is taking the same approach as the three guys that came before him, as a pitcher, if you're 'on', do you get to just settle into a groove? Let me be clear, I am putting zero stock into this idea, I'm not going to defend it against criticism, I just thought I'd float this out there to anyone in a more informed position than I am.
  23. Not saying that he didn't play with intensity (he did), but Revere also seemed to be a good glue guy for the Jays. Pretty loose in the dugout. JB, JD, Tulo, Martin, they can be a bit of a scowling lot at times and Revere helped balance that out.
  24. They really spent the time to illustrate that of all the 'brothers', Jon had the closest bond with Arya. Showed absolutely no connection to Sansa. I suppose it could have been an age thing. Perhaps Jon and Sansa had been closer when Sansa was Arya's age. Its hard to imagine any of Sansa's brothers tolerating her at the time the TV show introduces us to Sansa.
