  1. Bets placed: I used PlayNow, so I had to do that stupid Parlay thing where if you want to bet on the outcome of one game, you have to also bet on the outcome of an additional game. -I've got Broncos covering the spread and the Canucks to win tonight - I've got Pens to win tonight and Newton to complete his first pass at < 8.5 yards - Green will be the color of the gatorade dumped over winning coach's head -I've got a non-QB winning MVP -I've got Carolina winning the SB and Bernie Sanders winning the NH primaries -I've got Beyonce wearing yellow or gold for her first song You may or may not be able to guess which bets were made by my GF.
  2. NHL.tv doesn't support chromebook... their whole re-modeling of their website is horsecrap

The white background is brutal and not having all the teams listed for instant access is ridiculous.  Not to mention having to scroll down for a an hour just to get the nhl news is utterly useless.

      Epic fail !

  3. Joel Queneville gets away with more than any other coach.

I'd give him a free pass to grab his sack as often as he wants.

Like BanTSN said,...'more like those 'hawks gettin' away with more than any other team...'cept maybe other O-6's & So-Cal teams.

  4. Manziel in more trouble: Bruce Arthur Retweeted Jason Whitely ‏@JasonWhitely 15m15 minutes ago EXCLUSIVE DETAILS: Johnny Manziel's ex claims the QB threatened to kill her and himself via @rlopezwfaa @jptrahan. http://www.wfaa.com/sports/johnny-manziel-threatened-ex-girlfriend/32613842 … Ironically but unsurprisingly, the morons over at 1040 (pratt and jake) were saying earlier this morning that Manziel got a bad rap and was being targeted unfairly because he's a QB.
  5. Good point. A 70 year old billionaire with no prior experience is going to be the leader of the largest political party of the most powerful nation in the world, and about 50 million people are totally fine with it. I guess I'm just some evolutionary throwback not advanced enough for this new world.
  6. Thank you for this. I admittedly knew nothing about Nick Cave until last year when I started watching Peaky Blinders and this was the theme song:
  7. Inside Out: 9.25/10 Loved the complexity of the movie, and not just 'for a cartoon by Pixar'. Liked how each emotion was treated as something necessary/not to be ashamed of. Her: 8/10 Not sure what to say about this movie. Scarlett Johansson definitely had the voice for it. Joaquin Phoenix kept reminding me of Leonard from the Big Bang Theory, and I hate that show. I liked the concept, but found that the 'big reveal' at the end should have been something the character understood at the beginning. Also wished there was a bit more backstory about how we ended up in a world where dating an OS was not completely shocking.
  8. Really wish they had with when I was trying to watch MacBeth. Shakespeare PLUS thick accents... uncle!
  9. Jiro Dreams of Sushi - great story of focus/philosophy Act of Killing - Kind of eerie documentary following men formerly tasked by the Indonesian army with killing communists. Cartel Land - another documentary that is more about the amazing access than the actual story being told.
  10. The Wolfpack Amazing story poorly executed. May be too harsh to be overly critical, as it sounds like the director was a film student that basically stumbled upon the story of six brothers living in a 4-bedroom apartment in the lower east side of NY. Mom abused by father, father refused to allow his kids to leave the apartment. Once the eldest turned 15, he basically said f-you to his father and wandered outside on his own for the first time. So much of the story remains to be explained. Felt like the director was in way over her head and had no idea how to frame the story. Too many questions left un-answered. I feel like somebody will do this story again and do it right.
  11. I think Rushmore is my favorite Anderson flick of all time.
  12. NHL teams shouldn't struggle this hard with line changes.

Its the teams way of saying lets tank :P

Seriously though is it that hard to get the puck deep and then change?

  13. Cartel Land: 8/10 I wasn't really paying attention, just switched on Netflix and started watching this, not knowing it was a documentary. At first I realized it was a documentary, and then the access seemed so unreal that I thought it could be one of those 'found footage' type films so I had to Google to see what this movie actually was. Documentary by Matthew Heinemann. The access to two groups of 'vigilantes' on opposite sides of the Mexican/US border is awesome. The documentary flips between and parallels the activities of the two groups. Lost points because the doc had such wonderful access to these two groups but seemed to fall short of getting details/telling the full story. Could have gone on for much longer.
  14. Justin Abdelkader had 6 points in 50 games his first year in Detroit. I don't think anyone would question his status as a top 6 now. Gus Nyqvist had 6 points in 22 games in his first year in Detroit. I don't think anyone would question his status as a top 6 now. Wings brought those guys along slowly. The Canucks are doing the same. Not to mention that those guys broke into the league a couple years older than JV is now.
  15. Regarding spoilers... all movies take liberties, this one was just being upfront about it. Obtaining the prospectus may have been immensely complicated and would have taken a Lord of the Ring's-esque quest to obtain in. Only difference being that quest would be insanely dull, so they cut it from the movie and tell the truth about the real story. I had no problem with that at all.
  16. All he does is triple Salchow when Nylander is out there hitting axels, lutzs, Biellmans, Walleys, you name it.
  17. Recently cut my cable. Was listening to the Seahawks game on 1410 last Sunday. Warren Moon might rival Jack Edwards for biased perspective. Everything is "we gotta do this", "we gotta do that". He also talked about Kearse as "making great catches with his hands". Thanks for clarifying, Warren. Moon and Potvin should do a gameshow where contestants have to guess whether a phrase correctly describes how a part of the human anatomy works. Is this a Moon phrase, or a Potvin phrase?
  18. Trumbo: 8/10 Watched this one a while ago. Interesting story, but if Bryan Cranston wins an Oscar, I'll be extremely annoyed... unless his character was known to put on an accent at random during conversations. Every now and then Cranston would dive into this weird old-timy Russian accent. Totally perplexing and I couldn't figure out if he simply couldn't maintain an accent throughout the film. Reminded me of when Jodie Foster's accent in Elysium was so bad that they had to edit her voice throughout the entire film.
  19. Primer: 6.75/10 Incredibly detailed film about time travel. Written, directed, and acted by a former engineer. I think this guy just really wanted to write a film about time travel where there were no time travel-related plot holes, but was an awful story teller when it came to everything else.
  20. Really? It's really easy for me to remember what happened, because every single plotline was ripped from previous films J/K, I still really liked the film, even if it only tapped into my nostalgic side.
  21. Coherence: 9/10 I don't like saying too much about these types of films because any detail spoils it for the viewer. If you like suspensful sci-fi, I thought this movie was phenomenal. Really solid acting, great tension. Very heavy on dialogue (which I like) and the dialogue seemed natural. Cons:
  22. This same argument was used to explain why Horvat needed to be sent back to London. I've seen no issue with Horvat's skill level. There is also no reason to believe that JV won't be playing PP minutes in 3-4 years. The Canucks also employ a skills coach for a reason.
  23. Burr was on 1040 and asked about the WJHC. He said Jake would benefit from coming back to the team and losing weight. Not even subtle about it. Less time on the bus in the WHL and more time in the gym in the NHL. No more breakfast buffets at the Best Western.
