  1. This. Being rich doesn't protect you from demons, but your wealth is one less barrier to getting help/finding alternatives. Not that being poor gives you an excuse to drink and drive, but his wealth should be used as an aggravating circumstance if this goes to court.
  2. OP Updated with stats through Feb 27th. Utica Comets off to a great start with the kids leading the way. Unfortunate about DiPietro being stuck on the taxi squad. Missing a chance at improved development. I've updated the draft eligible prospects by adding a few guys and changing some rankings. Note that the rankings don't include all categories because there are players that will likely be drafted in certain positions that I'm not tracking for various reasons (e.g., not playing or playing in weird leagues like Brandt Clarke in Slovakia). One guy on the rise is local product Kent Johnson from Port Moody. Had a great year with the Trail Smoke Eaters last year and followed things up with a p/pg pace in Michigan.
  3. Yeah, my wife and I live in a 650 sq ft condo (with a dog) and we both work from home about 80% of the time. Our plan was to buy a townhouse in the summer and things are far too risky for me given the short time-frame for this expense. If I had more long-term thinking I'd hold on, but it just doesn't make sense right now.
  4. I'm basically about to hit all of my stop losses... Just going to put my money under a mattress for the next 4-6 months.
  5. Especially now that the glass behind the benches has been removed for Covid-19 protocols. Easier access to the other side.
  6. Appreciate your advice. I plan to be buying a new home in 6 month, at which point I'll be closing all of my positions. Do you have any thoughts on whether I should move into something less risky?
  7. Added to my position in SBE. About 80% of my portfolio is wrapped up in ARKK/ARKQ/ARKF.
  8. I had PRK surgery the other day so at least I can't really see my losses clearly.
  9. OP updated with stats through Feb 13. Comets are back! Lind on fire. Gadj with a fight. Hoglander hasn't been on the scoresheet but he's been exceptional since the start of the season. Karlsson is playing out of his mind, albeit in the Allsvenskan not the SHL. Petrus Palmu... I remember Vancouver media acting incredulous about his handling in Utica. Looks like he just wasn't that good to begin with. Not really fair to blame the kid given he was drafted in like the 6th/7th round, but media over-hyped him. Aidan McDonough on fire with 3 PP goals on Saturday. He had a multi-point game today but this isn't factored into his point totals yet (I don't think). In terms of draft eligible guys, a surprise has been William Eklund. Really strong numbers in the SHL compared to his peers. Luke Hughes has been a points machine after a slow start to the year.
  10. Its so bizarre to me to see grown adults complain about the quality of a stream for a preseason game/scrimmage. Like, if young people whined, I get it, because they know nothing different. But if you're an adult, you should be in awe of how far things have come.
  11. Horvat looking too much like Gaunce. Just conserving energy all over the ice. No emotion except to whine about a penalty.
  12. Man I'll miss Don Taylor. I grew up in Haida Gwaii in the 90s. Didn't have cable. I'd sit in my room listening to CKNW on my Dad's radio. I'd spend half the game fiddling with the antenna.... and then the post-game show. I can still hear it. Don Taylor made me howl. I'd lay in bed throwing a baseball up and down trying to get it as close to the ceiling without actually hitting it. When games were really intense I'd whip a tennis ball against the wall and try to catch it like I was Bob Essensa/Felix Potvin (yeah, the goalie graveyard was a thing back then). I wanted so badly to be part of the team that I "punished" myself for losses. Every goal against with 20 situps and 10 pushups. A loss was an extra 50 and 25. Getting shutout was another 50 and 25. Radio will always be special to me because as a kid it was all I had to connect to the Canucks (except when my grandparents would send me VHS tapes of a game that happened like a month ago and I would watch it 10 times). Sucks to see hardworking people let go. I think I disagreed with guys on 1040 far more than I agreed with them, but I would always listen to 1040 over 650 because I felt that at least these people were passionate and their rants were either entertaining or at least somewhat thought-out (even if I disagreed with it I could understand why they felt that way). Listening to 650 is like drinking water. It goes down, you digest it, but you don't really taste it. Hopefully that changes.
  13. Dhaliwal went from a reporter to a radio personality very quickly and his radio personality sucked. He tried to be edgy and hard. I remember him talking about how coaches should be yelling and screaming at 6 year olds to teach them about life and Donny and Moj were just silent wondering what the hell was wrong with this guy. I don't think he ever played the game... those people who find themselves in the hockey world usually try to have this old-school mentality to compensate. I hope he goes back to what he does best because he was unparalleled in this market when it came to reporting news.
  14. Lol. If I am following correctly this is a terrible connection you're trying to make. Getting fired for bringing negative attention to the company you work for because you spread $&!#ty conspiracy theories/terrible analogies/etc. is a bit different from canning a dozen people with no warning because while they were doing a good job they weren't making enough of a profit.
  15. It is crazy to me what people decide to include under the umbrella of politics. Being a general POS is not a political statement for which someone is getting persecuted. People like to create wildly obnoxious and poorly conceived conspiracy theories and then cry victim when they realize that actions have consequences. It is usually people who are desperate for social media clout. They publicly say things that directly oppose the philosophy/values/beliefs of the company they are part of and then are in disbelief when they get canned. If you don't want your actions to have negative consequences, don't work for a company that doesn't share your beliefs... or do, but understand that if you bring negative attention to your employer you're probably going to get burned... especially if you aren't all that good at your job and thus are easily expendable (*waves to Mike Milbury*)
  16. After these past 10 games, I am not sure that Jalen Chatfield is who we should be turning to if we want our prayers answered.
