  1. OJ's debut reminded me of Tanev's debut. In the playoffs. Injuries. Looked calm enough. Like he was smoking a cigarette out there.

Corrado's problem was he went to a team that did look out of place in the NHL after Vancouver.

Yeah, being in Toronto didn't do Corrado any favours at all

But I was thinking the same thing about OJ

  2. The series against Minny won't be an "official" playoff series, but you can't say that what we watched wasn't playoff hockey. It was the most intense NHL hockey any of the young guys ever experienced and they didn't wilt/shy to the outside. Winning that "series" was like winning a playoff round to those guys. Now they get another round against much tougher competition. Weaknesses will be exposed, which will be helpful for teaching these guys what they need to work on in the offseason. That said, I don't count them out of the first round either. They are playing playoff hockey. The round robin games have been boring as heck. Will STL/Dallas be able to match intensity in time?
  3. Gotta say, I would have enjoyed reading Botchford's column about tonight's game.
  4. Rooster grew up in France where nobody cared if he was good at hockey and so things weren't handed to him on a silver platter. People have been talking about Jake Virtanen since he was 9 years old. His vocabulary hasn't really expanded since that point. Hockey is much more enjoyable once you accept that you should admire 90% of these guys for the ability to play hockey and nothing else. There are definite exceptions to this. Petey comes across as a very grounded person. Same with Boes. Because they have gone through adversity. Mitchy Marner had his Daddy pay for extra ice time since he was six years old. He has been rich his entire life and only needed to be good at one thing.
  5. The longer the delay the better given ice conditions will improve, which favors the Canucks' skill.
  6. I like Gaethje more... but I would want to see Khabib win just so we can get a fight with GSP.
  7. No way that Fiala's teammates like him. Said it after Game 2 where he acted like a rockstar after scoring two goals in garbage time. You're losing, your head should be in a different place. Guy cares more about stats than winning games.
  8. Show the replay again SN. Enough with this bull$&!# of protecting refs from their horrible calls. And I don't think it is bias against the Canucks. It is just that they are incompetent at their job and can't keep up with the play. Things are too fast and all they see is the outcome, not what precipitated it.
  9. In the playoffs, your best players need to be your best players. And that's why my team is being lead by *checks notes* Devon Toews and Alex Chiasson.
  10. If he went back to Manitoba that's a pretty good sign that he's done for the year. Feel so bad for the guy. I know exactly why he fought first shift. He wanted to throw himself into the fire and test himself. Just wish someone had pulled him aside and reminded him that he is also a talented player that can score. Didn't need to fight right off the bat. But, it is his choice/his right to decide how he plays. Look at some boxers/MMA fighters. They can take medical suspensions for up to a year. Wish the guy had just decided to give a break from fighting even a chance.
  11. It sounds like that's exactly what it is. Concussion symptoms are lagged. They don't necessarily appear right after the event. The inability to find anything that might have precipitated an injury from last night is really worrying.
  12. The Canucks tried to finish the last six or so minutes of the game without getting into scrums. They just wanted to ease their way into a win/ratchet down the intensity. There is no way they make the same mistake again. Fiala wasn't that impressive for 55 minutes of the game and then was gloating about a 4-2 goal. The challenge for the Canucks IMO will all come down to special teams. The reffing is fair to both teams, but there is such in-game inconsistency. I imagine the players have zero idea what is/is not a penalty at this point.
  13. In the first ISO clip it looks like McDavid is literally sped up... until you see everyone else in the video.
  14. If you're suggesting a player is staying down to draw a whistle... literally the only thing you are doing is questioning their integrity.
  15. The cognitive dissonance of some people to call Petey small/weak but also a goon/dirty. Which one is it Minnesota? I get that Americans have trouble holding more than one thought in their head at the same time but yeesh.
