Undrafted: Magomed Sharakanov
For the number of times we picked in the late rounds, happy to see all but Sharakanov get drafted... the latter was a panic pick after being in Australia and poorly dealing with the time difference. In keeping with tradition, we reached on several high-skill guys (Perron, Pinelli) but we are happy to see which NHL teams drafted them.

Honestly, I'd be happy with any of the top 16 in your recent rankings besides ASP. He's my only DND at the moment.
Here's the way I think about it. The following players are all but guaranteed to be taken in the Top 10 (in no particular order):
1.Bedard
2. Fantilli
3. Carlsson
4. Smith
5. Michkov
6. Leonard
I have no idea what will happen after this. Which puts the Canucks in a pretty good position. If the Canucks pass on Benson, I would be extremely disappointed, but not surprised. Aside from that, I wouldn't be pounding the table in disagreement if the Canucks selected any of Moore, Simashev, Reinbacher, Barlow, or Perreault. If the top 6 shakes out the way I've listed above, the Canucks are guaranteed one of those players.
I also like Wood and Danielson, but I think each of these players is just a small notch above.

The left-hand side represents the top 32 based on 49 rankings that date back as early as 2022. These rankings include multiple rankings from the same outlet (e.g., Button in the Fall, Button in the Winter, Button in June, etc.). The rankings on the right-hand side are if you want to focus moreso on recency (e.g., between April and June). The rankings in this column are based on 12 lists and none from the same person/outlet.
Updating these aggregate rankings given a lot of lists have emerged. I included Pronman's most recent list (not his mock). Cc @R3aL
"All Rankings" include 55 rankings, some of which include the same person providing multiple lists at different points throughout the year.
"Recent Rankings" were made between May-June and include 15 rankings from 15 unique outlets/persons (Baracchini (June, n = 128) Bob McKenzie (June, n = 100) Craig Button (June, n = 100) Daily Faceoff (June, n = 150) Dobber (June, n = 100) DraftProspects (June, n = 100) EP (June, n = 136) FC Hockey (June, n = 100) McKeen's (May, n = 250) Pronman (May, n = 142) Robinson (June, n = 75) Smaht (May, n = 108) Sportsnet (May, n = 32) THN (June, n =116) Wheeler (June, n = 100)).
Sportsnet (Cosentino) only ranked the top 32, so when you see certain players with a "33" it means they feel outside the top 32 but I don't know where they would actually be ranked.
Based on the last couple months, Sawchyn and Perron are the most polarizing prospects (Pronman is especially low on them). Among players in the top 10, But (9 thru 48), Simashev (8 thru 40), Brindley (9 thru 40), and Wood (10 thru 37) were associated with a particularly wide range of rankings.

Interesting how, after pick 19, every player but Gauthier is 6+ feet (and Gauthier might be the most tenacious of them all). Seems like Button is suggesting that teams are really going to take to heart Vegas' model.

Wish I understood this
Seider plays against extremely tough competition and is required to start a high proportion of his shifts in the defensive zone. His ability to have a positive Corsi value is therefore pretty impressive. He is able to help control shot differential despite being up against star players where he is forced to start in his own zone.
On the other hand, Quinn Hughes gets more O-zone starts and his quality of competition is about average. Hughes has a higher Corsi value than Seider, but this is likely related at least in part to where he gets to start and who he gets to play against.

Yeah I can't wrap my head around Columbus trading their pick. It just doesn't make any sense for them.
Miller v. Torts would be hilarious.
Jarmo Keikalainen is like Jim Benning-lite. Good scout that became a GM and can't get out of his own way on Jul 1. CBJ are in win-now mode. They shouldn't be. But adding Gaudeau, Severson, and Provorov in the last year is not the behavior of a team rebuilding.

He's driving the ufc south. Ratings are going down and he's losing top fighters left and right. He got UFC to a certain level but should have left it when the Ferttias were bought out. It should be 10x the size by now. Instead rival companies are popping up all over and doing well/
His latest business idea was Slapfighting.
Slap fighting has been a joke, it's disgusting and has no support. He lost his TV deal right out of the gate and now is exclusive on Rumble...F'ing Rumble.
He recently said 90mil tuned into view Slap fighting....Rumble has 39mil users.
Dana, is a Trump clone. Hates the media and lies to control as much as he can.
Not to mention that the biggest issue with the NHL relative to sports like the NFL/NBA is its failure to promote its stars.
Ever since McGregor became bigger than the UFC, White et al. have actively done everything they can to make sure the brand is always bigger than the athlete. They don't want stars.

Not sure he said he see’s himself as a winger, I’m saying teams will
Do you see alot of 5’8” centers in the league?
For one, he's not 5'8:

Further, while this current roster has an absolute glut of wingers, if there is NOBODY available at 11 ready to meaningfully impact the roster anytime soon, why be deterred if the BPA is a winger?

This is so ridiculous man. Kid is being humble and thoughtful. People too often confuse arrogance for confidence (especially in Quebec) where being loud and self-aggrandizing is part of certain people's culture. English is probably his 3rd language. He flew halfway across the world.
Jason Bukla was on Canucks Talk and raved about Reinbacher. He is doing a business internship while playing in a professional men's league. He's extremely hard working and humble.

With the 127th pick, LAK select Joseph/Joey Willis.
@Tony Romo and @Dak Prescott are up. As per Rule 6 in the OP, their pick is due at 5:35pm.

Just to build off of my post earlier, given some of the talk of tiers, here is how things could look based on average rankings:
This is extremely crude and I did this really quickly, but lighter shades of the same color are basically me saying maybe they could fit with the rest of the tier but they seem to maybe be half a tier lower.
I was quite surprised at how many recent rankings have Reinbacher in the 20s.

OK SIGN ME UP
TAKE MY MONEY
Pronmans interesting takes are:
Hes higher on Danielson than even me and Ive been high on him all year. And he knows it and owns it.
He is lower on Benson than most, and for smaller skilled forwards he likes Perreault most.
And hes a big but fan... hehe
His list isn't outlandish for the top 32. There is a lot to like. But then he has guys like Jayden Perron at #107 and Will Whitelaw at #112 and I just can't buy that.

Outstanding stuff. Much appreciated your posting. Got me thinking I'd like to do one of my own but just with the outlets I know and trust. You just assign each ranking 1 point for 1st overall and 50 points for 50th overall kinda thing? No weights I presume?
No weights... yet lol. It becomes a problem deeper into the draft when different outlets rank a different number of players and Player X shows up on one list but not another.
This is only the 2nd year I've done this, so its mostly just data collection at this point before I try to do anything more substantial.

Whose stock has fallen?
- Yager is out of the top 10 (10 to 18)
- Cristall out of the top 15 (11 to 16)
- Gulyayev dropped 5 spots (16 to 21)
- Heidt out of the top 20 (17 to 24)
Whose stock has risen?
- Reinbacher with the biggest jump (24 to 11)
- ASP into the top 10 (18 to 9)
- Leonard into the top 10 (13 to 8)
- Simashev moved 10 spots (29 to 19)

Should have done a third one including his just to see.
Edited to add Pronman as his own separate list.

With 49 publicly available rankings, I don't think he would have had much of an impact on 1-32.
Plus, what makes it unfair, lol? It's my list. I'm not selling it to you.

One day we'll draft someone who isn't a forward. But that day is not today. With our 8th pick in the draft, the LAK select Felix Nilsson.

[Official] Toronto Blue Jays Major League Baseball thread
in Off-Topic General
Posted
For 4-5 years the Jays have felt like a team dominated by guys who hit the baseball well but otherwise weren't all that good at baseball. I can't tell if they are getting worse, if my patience is weaker, or if this is just the state of baseball.
