Jesus christ. The cards the last 6 weeks have delivered.
-
Two likeable fighters IMO.
-
Hahaha ahhhh man. Producers must have a coronary every time Mike Perry just starts in with his stream-of-consciousness way of speaking. Man's a wild card.

[2019-2020] Canucks Prospects Stat Tracker
Down by the River replied to Down by the River's topic in Prospects / Farm Team
So this is somewhat interesting.... we tracked five draft eligible players this year. They were selected because I anticipated that they would end up getting drafted towards the middle of the first round... which is where I was expecting the Canucks to draft. Bob McKenzie just came out with his Final Rankings: 13. Dawson Mercer 14. Kaiden Guhle 15. Hendrix Lapierre 16. Dylan Holloway 17. Braden Schneider https://www.tsn.ca/alexis-lafreniere-tops-tsn-hockey-insider-bob-mckenzie-s-final-draft-rankings-1.1488269?fbclid=IwAR3jjreFtNHjMkf1Pu2F9Vf6xB1JWDbRdfweOd2lRVCHf-nym5NlRz5DhVk -
Thanks for reminding me of this one. Need to watch it.

I am Legend: 7/10 The movie was probably way better when it came out (2007), but it is difficult to watch 13 years later. CGI is horrible. Also, any movie that comes out with 'alternate endings' deserves to lose a point or two. Have some chutzpah, pick one and live with it. There's an alternative reality somewhere where everyone on the Titanic survives, but nobody wants to see the movie version of that reality. But also, dogs, man.

https://www.espn.com/mma/story/_/id/29341084/nsac-probe-max-rohskopf-corner-refusal-stop-fight This is one of the dirty things about individual sports. The bad/desperate coaches will push their athlete until they make them famous or until the athlete completely breaks down, at which point the coach will just toss them in the dumpster. The minute a fighter asks for the fight to be stopped, the corner should be obligated to throw the towel in, regardless of whether they agree. If its a mental block thing with their fighter (and not physical), then that is something they can figure out in training, not during the time they're locked in the cage with a trained killer.

Man oh man. Burgos walks through shots... just didn't have the output and Emmett can definitely take a shot as well. UFC 251 looking nice. Namajunas is one of my favorite fighters. Putting Paige van Zant with the other 4 fights is a joke though.
-
Burgos v. Emmett should be a good one. Jim Miller is one of the very rare guys that sticks around without just becoming a punching bag.

Sicario: Day of the Saldado: 7.5/10 God Dammit is Benicio Del Toro cool. The scene of him on the bus is one of my favorites. But Denis Villeneuve is missing from the movie and it shows. Some shots feel like a ripoff from No Country for Old Men and the last act just feels stupidly coincidental. Like about as lazy as you can get to try and tie things together.

https://www.macleans.ca/news/canada/the-nova-scotia-killer-had-ties-to-criminals-and-withdrew-a-huge-sum-of-cash-before-the-shooting/ The Nova Scotia shooter case has hallmarks of an undercover operation Basically, the story presents opinions from multiple people (former officers, banking experts) that the nature of Wortman's cash withdrawals align with how the RCMP pays confidential informants or 'agents'. The fact that he was not investigated for domestic assault, other offenses is speculated to have been because he was working for the RCMP. ----- EDIT: At least one person with expertise in the area thinks that the story is BS... and after reading her points I would favor agreeing with her:
-
Pretty sure Schumer took a nosedive when it was revealed that her stand-up/comedy skits were stolen from other comics.

Thanks Deb. She's spent a lot of time building to this. Four years of undergrad. Another year for an Honors. Two years for an MA. 4.5 years for a PhD. It's been a long journey for her to have her dream taken away before she even got a taste.

Wife went through a year of interviews, security clearances, etc. for her job. She was supposed to start on Monday. She just got laid off (if you can even call it that given she didn't even get a chance to start work) due to budget cuts.

Gemini: 6.5/10 The trailer made this look like a cool LA-Noire type movie about the pressures of paparazzi, etc. Instead it felt like the Director started with how he wanted the movie to end and then just slapped pieces together to make things fit the ending. People didn't behave in ways you would expect. Cool visuals though.

Amanda Nunes saved Spencer in the last round. She could have really poured it on but respected Spencer's toughness. Can't see anyone at 145 matching Nunes. She could be the most dominant champ the UFC has ever seen.

One of my favorites. Wouldn't mind seeing Garbrandt figure things out. His performance against Cruz is one of my favorites.
-
Yeah, Yesterday and The Joker were two of my biggest movie disappointments of the last several years.

For a bit of context (sorry if I'm preaching to the choir), in the Vancouver situation, places like Riverview were closed on the basis that patients would be able to attend community-based out-patient treatment facilities. This was when pharmacological treatment of mental disorders was on the rise. Patients were given drugs but treatment facilities were never built; or at least not enough to address demand.

2020-2021 Canucks season tickets thread
Down by the River replied to WalkWithElias's topic in Canucks Talk
I got an email from StubHub saying that a previous transaction was cancelled. My tickets had transferred to the buyer but the payment hadn't transferred to me. I'm hoping that the Canucks factor this into my refund. This might actually be the reason for the delay in refunding STM. Had to wait for StubHub to rule on purchases before they could determine what they owed individual STMs. -
I used to live in Haida Gwaii as a kid. We'd take the ferry to Rupert and then down to Port Hardy. Port Hardy wasn't all bad. At least has some good fishing. Duncan's only redeeming quality is the big old hockey stick you can see from the highway.
-
I don't think you adequately factored in Duncan's proximity to Duncan. The toilet is close to the shower... but I'm not going to bathe in the toilet.
