  1. People can be as upset at they like, but I have to say it is awfully nice to be the team that is shedding players capable of playing in the NHL, rather than the team eagerly hoping to claim them.
  2. I definitely did a double take when I saw this but in a certain light it makes sense. I suspect they are hoping to sneak these guys through to Utica where they can serve as top 6 depth option when someone inevitably gets hurt. Goldobin may get claimed, Baer might get claimed or one or both of them might sneak through. If they get claimed they have other options so it is a low risk move. Baertschi missed a lot of time and won't be hurt by a bit of time in Utica to get into top form and be called up when he is needed. If they lose him, they lose him. If they sent Eriksson down he would just be an anchor in Utica. Better to have him sit as the extra forward or play on the 4th line. This may be a means of keeping a couple of players of value in a position to fight their way into the lineup. It almost certainly means that they expect Boeser will be ready to play in the near future. If Baer gets claimed they lose a large chunk of cap hit and a player that is high risk at this point. It is an understandable move.
  3. I lived in Victoria for a few years but was already a Canucks fan thanks to one Pavel Bure.
  4. Lifelong Ontario Canucks fan here. Currently live in Ottawa.
  5. What the HE-double-hockey sticks does all this squabbling and bitching about Edler have to do with the Training Camp thread. I feel like my brains are oozing out of my eyeballs!
  6. I would think if they do that the 4th line will get a lot more minutes than the supposed 3rd line. We need those shutdown guys to play and create some room. Wouldn’t be a bad idea to have more even ice time between the lines.
  7. Seems foolish to send guys down until we have to. Never know if someone is going to get injured in practice and change everything.
  8. I love having him on the team but do we consider trading Beagle? That opens up the option to have Gaudette play Centre on a third scoring line and load up Sutter with the defensive responsibilities. It also has the benefit that Beagle is a desirable player, so we could possibly get something worthwhile for him. Have done zero research so you can let me know if this isn't possible for some reason, but I wonder if it is an option.
  9. Moving Jake accomplishes nothing with regards to keeping Gaudette. The play different positions and there is nothing wrong with starting Jake in the press box. The issue isn't having too many players, the issue is finding him a worthwhile position to play in that is better than being 1st line centre in Utica. Keep him up and when he inevitably runs out of gas, move him down to slot Roussel in. If he doesn't, well he will have earned his place.
  10. Keep Gaudette up and let him show what he can do. Worst case they can still send him down when Roussel returns if he can’t keep up the pace. Sends the right message but also it also leaves open the option of sending him down if he can’t keep it up.
  11. That seems to be a common opinion on these message boards so why would that get you banned? A woefully misguided opinion but a common one.
  12. I would keep Virtanen over any of those other guys, but even I would keep Gaudette over Virtanen. He earned his shot.
  13. Really don’t think we should be the ones casting that particular stone.
  14. Foolish enough to go to an Arizona game. Always boring as hell.
  15. Here comes the goal followed by a second one for the lead.
  16. This feels like one of those games where we play poorly and then squeak out an undeserved win at the last minute.
  17. Ummm Canucks outshot their opponent 46-29 literally yesterday.
  18. You are awfully cranky tonight. Did someone take the whiskey away?
  19. Jake played a very good period. Seems weird that people keep dumping on him regardless. Has shown hustle, good forecheck, blocked a big shot, engaged. Shows that it is not about him at all, just a scapegoat.
  20. Goldobin just seems to lose every battle, even when he is engaged and making an effort.
