This prediction is sure looking a lot less crazy now than it did when I posted it.

  2. In before the Canucks stomp Vegas tonight and prove that embarrassing game was just a rocky night.

      Ghostsof1915

Yeah but it's a different Fin now isn't it. That was pretty quiet how that happened. Like it was not covered at all. Wonder what the story is? Hope it's just the guy just wanted to retire.

  5. Thank the gods that awful preseason is finally over.

  6. Please welcome the newest member of the Vancouver defense....

    Loui Eriksson

it’s just crazy enough to work

Does the little things defensively, you don't really notice him

      Good things for a defenseman

  7. Prediction: Hoglander will make the team and be stapled to the bench for the first couple of games, sending CDC and Vancouver media into a frothing berserk rage.

It will be the right thing to do and Green has done it before.

looking like greener and Co, are on the same board, peace louie! lol
EDIT: Was a louie supporter for the first 2 years, thinking he was gunna do something right but nope...

  8. As to why all our unsigned players went to Canadian teams, I suspect the Rona has something to do with it. If there is a Canadian division I suspect many would prefer to play in that right now.

    1. Odd.

      Odd.

Haha well I do like to call the people of Michigan Canada Junior. Not that they appreciate it.

Was more thinking of the draw of Calgary and Montreal. Everyone though Tofu would head to California. I mean I think there are reasons that he didn't and you have to think the pandemic played a role in that decision.

  9. “We should have signed X because the contract was affordable!” Think on it and realize that means some very good players will be going for next to nothing if we are patient.

Can I bump my own status just to gloat? Worth a try.

  10. Weak penalty kills? Can’t get the “little things” right? I think we all know who we need in the lineup right now...

  11. You know how much I root for Virtanen but if there is anyone I can accept taking his spot it has to be Big Mac.

I want to see both of them in the lineup.

Both can skate and are sandpaper to play against.   Exactly the kind of player ready for playoff hockey...

Virt is one of the best 2 way players on the team.

    3. VforVasili

      VforVasili

For sure I agree. I want them both there! Virt can take someone else's spot!

But Bic Mac is very deserving of a shot.

  12. Just launched a crazy and fun Kickstarter through my work called the Save Halloween Project to create awesome online events if things go south this fall. If anyone is interested in knowing more about it or helping spread the word, let me know!

  13. Free tix for tonight’s game in Ottawa? I bought some awesome tickets in the 100s off stub hub last week but now I am sick as a dog. Would rather they go to a fellow Canucks fan. If you are interested message me. Make sure you have a safe way to get there with the snowstorm and if the game is delayed I would still plan to go to the rematch. I will changer nothing but ask that, if you are gainfully employed and able, you consider making a donation to charity.

Ended up giving them to a couple of Inuit gents from Iqaluit who had never been to a hockey game before. Hoping they have a great time!

  14. Seeing what people paid today make you appreciate the deals Benning made for Miller and Toffoli even more.

    1. coastal.view

      coastal.view

      yes for sure

even dealing with the sudden need to trade for another goalie due to marky's issues was accomplished shrewdly by jb

no panic, no overpay, no over reach, just a fringe goalie with some nhl experience, so that dipetro does not have to be called up and become the backup to demko

  15. A modest proposal to rid us of Eriksson.

i do think it reasonable though

      that you draw that commission

so long as not 1 dime is taken before the first entire million is accumulated (and readied to be used)

and of course you'd be required to pick up the bills from where ever as convenience will be necessary to ensure each member contributes

    4. VforVasili

      VforVasili

Sounds good. But if we fail to make the million mark I will donate it all to the church instead and use it to buy cans and cans of Jake’s “holy water” in bulk.

  16. Doubling down. Bought against-the-glass tickets for tomorrow in the hopes my Canucks will redeem themselves before I have to return to Ontario.

  17. Will be in Van Feb 7-13. What are the best Canucks related things to do? I could afford to go to one game but can you attend practice? Where is the best place to buy a Virtanen jersey? Where is the best sports bar to watch the games?

  18. Visiting Vancouver In February for the first time in 20 years and could use some advice. What touristy things should I see? Where should I go to watch the games (could only afford tickets for one of them)?

No one will be mad tbh. People were mad over the Boeser one because at the time we only had Bo, nothing else to look forward to. Now we have Bo, Petey, Hughes, Ferland, Miller, etc.

      It worked fine with Brock.

  21. Would rather be the team waiving good players than the team that needs to pray for them to drop to us.

  22. For those complaining Boeser isn’t signed while also complaining Benning isn’t a good negotiator... patience. Time is on our side.

Ive been really happy with almost all of Bennings signings in the last 2 years.

Boeser's deal will get done. But, we do need to trade a 3+ Million dollar player. One of Baertschi, Beagle, Sutter, Tanev or Eriksson will need to be traded

    3. Nuxfanabroad

      Nuxfanabroad

Something like Baer & Eriksson, 3rd in 2020 to Ottawa

For Ryan & Boedker(easy to demote, contract done next spring), & one of their 2020 2nd's

Melnyk would LOVVVVVE the $ disparity here..

Have we re-signed Jordan Subban yet?!?!?!

  23. Promising team= players sign at reasonable terms. Bottom dwelling team= GM has to overpay to fill the roster. Maybe Benning was never such a terrible negotiator after all?

Guys want the best chance to win + money + family concerns + city all factor in.  Having Petey and Hughes and our city = more attractive to UFAs.

    2. Bissurnette

      Bissurnette

People, including myself, often lose sight of that fact. Even Eriksson's contract wasn't terrible at the time it was signed. He wanted to come here and play with the twins so it was a reasonable contract. Nobody anticipated he would fall off a cliff when he gets here.

    3. VforVasili

      VforVasili

Alf- Yes this is exactly what made me realize this. There are so many factors in whether a GM can get a good deal or not. In my mind Bending has done as well as could with the cards he has been dealt at each stage.

  24. Mikey DiPietro with horrible leg injury. We just can’t catch a break.
