Okay, so was a generally productive call with Terry, he's the Chief Revenue Officer for the Canucks business side of the organization.
Generally, this is action of shutting down the forum is coming from Marketing as they only see about 500 fans actively posting every month. I've addressed that in a follow up email to them which I'll post shortly. The Canucks Marketing team meets every Tuesday morning and the Canucks forum WILL be on tomorrow's meeting agenda.
Some of the concerns that they have within the organization is the amount of negative messaging and even some stuff that they consider racist. This has been creating negative feedback and issues within the season ticket base as well as their advertiser community. I told him that there was always going to be some of that, but that the moderators within this board do an excellent job overall of policing that as do some of the other fans at calling out people who are pushing over a line.
Here's a screenshot of the email that I just sent back to both Michael and Terry. I'm presenting all information back to the base here as, this is the level of engagement and active feedback that I feel should have been coming directly from the team for some time and I told Terry as much.
No guarantees, but I've asked them directly to open the door and let us (ALL OF US) be a part of the discussion and find a way to evolve the forum into a model for the rest of the league.
Cheers.
Thanks for doing this.
I think they are also vastly underestimating the engagement by lurkers and otherwise silent members of the community that don't post very often. That was me for at least the first 5 years or so of still going on these message boards and engaging with Canucks content.
Some of the most prolific posters are the message boards equivalent of influencers. Fans log in to see what they have to say, whether for educational purposes, or entertainment. Either way it serves the Canucks purposes.

Joined the new site.
To the people who made the decision to shut this forum, you clearly don’t realize how important this is to those of us fans who don’t live in Vancouver.
No one I know in real life is a fan here in Ottawa so it is through this forum that I sustain my fandom and keep spending loads of money on this team.
I hope the new forum succeeds but if it doesn’t, I hope the financial losses resulting from diminished sense of fandom of Canucks fans across the world come from your personal salaries you absolute twats!

As I continue to explore my options as to how I will express my Canuck fandom in the digital sphere, I find myself reflecting with some sadness that in all of our time here together we’ve never had a Cup win to celebrate. I am still wary of this new management regime and basically now my hopes for a Canuck Stanley Cup win really centers on my dad….the guy who got me introduced to hockey and the Canucks in the late 70’s. My dad is getting older, seemingly quicker with each year. I really want him to see a Cup win.
Sorry for the melancholy vibes, but this forum’s shuttering just has me in a bit of a reflective malaise in regards to the (often painful) history of this club. I probably do need to set myself up at the new place for Canuck talk. That will help. But also, I’m going to be checking out bunch of training camp days over in Victoria. That should also help. Seeing the boys on the ice always has the effect of instilling some semblance of optimism.
But still, what a bummer this has been.
I hope you will join. You have been one of my most appreciated posters over the years. Initial bias no doubt due to your username from my favourite books, but you always seem to have intelligent things to say and are appreciated.
Same with @SID.IS.SID.ME.IS.ME
Hope you both migrate to the new site.

I rescued this damn cat from the cow barn at 4 weeks old and the vet told me she had a very slim chance of surviving the night. 9 years later and she's spunky little monkey and enjoys attacking my legs to show her appreciation. I'm more of a dog person (got a pitty/lab mutt rescue) but this cat is my little buddy and I'd do anything for her.
I have a cat and 2 dogs. The cat and one of the dogs will be watching the game with me while he recovers from knee surgery. I find it hilarious that my cat watches the games but I think the motion is what draws her attention.

My cats been pretty sick recently. I'm quite looking forward to wrapping her in a blanket and watching the game tonight. She loves hockey, it's the only time I'll get to sit still with her for any extended amount of time.
Nice to see that Sean Bean is not so mean after all. Take care of that kitty and just watch out for @Alflives and lock your doors if there are any sightings of him.

Sens fans are so sick of seeing their best players leave that they would way rather take the risk of an overpayment than see the cycle continue. I think it makes sense in the context of that team and hope they turn it around.

I should take this opportunity to apologize for the Church of Virtanen thread. It was misguided to make lazy Jake into a messiah like figure and encourage binge drinking as a form of worship. It figures it was ultimately brought down by a sex scandal, considering what I modelled it after.
Hopefully this is just a minor website issue, so I don't have to consider making similar formal apologies for my love of Matt Cooke, Todd Bertuzzi, Zach Kassian and many other similar players before them.
Also, if this is the end, I will truly miss you all. My enjoyment of watching Canucks games in good times and bad will be greatly diminished without a PGT to focus the anger and/or celebrations.

Big Mac in Ottawa is awesome news. My second team picks up a player I really liked. Not a guy who sets the world on fire but love his grit and hard work.

LaCombe is a respected, up and coming skating and skills coach in the hockey world. And she’s also an accomplished former player. She’s worked with NHL players, including some big names (like Bobby Ryan). Having her at this camp is a good get for the organization. She knows her stuff and she’ll help these young players.
Kudos to the Canucks for bringing her in as a guest coach.
Honestly that truly disgusts me. It’s insane. Like all the morons commenting on “Alvin and his Chipettes” or whatever. I for one am thrilled that we are getting access to some of the best minds in hockey by being a bit more open minded ourselves. Keep it coming.

Someone needs to post the Pass it to Bulis “we need Bonino” video.

So I wonder how much more it will take for the naysayers to accept that we finally have a competent front office.
This team is turning a corner here without hobbling the future. Excited again to be a Canucks fan.

Why do people just assume everyone will sign with us? He will have a way better opportunity there than he would have with us.

Letting the young guys play is one thing if the young guys are incredibly talented and are naturally acclimating to the NHL. Fact is, if you have an inexperienced defense, those savings will mean nothing, when they're getting walked by more experienced teams.
Not to mention, with our injury luck, the young guys will get plenty of opportunity anyway. Key is to have enough depth that we aren't playing the guys that shouldn't even be in our future plans.

For some of these guys who might be looking to up their value on a shorter contract, the offer to play with Quinn Hughes has got to be an attractive proposition.

Happy with it.

Totally ok with trading down a couple of spots here. Lots of good options left.

I am personally glad our management team are being patient. There are going to be good bargains to be had and I hope they have the sense to hold out for them.
But I am not at all patient. Refresh refresh refresh.

Not the most exciting acquisition. Like kissing your Sustr, as the saying goes.

I completely understand the enthusiasm for giving our young prospects or AHL stalwarts a chance. Liked Brisebois when he was up as well as anyone.
That fails to factor in injuries. These guys will get their chance to fill depth roles and play some games. If we promote them all now, who is left to provide depth?

6 hours ago, Elias Pettersson said:The common misconception is that Aquilini only
cares about the money and not winning the cup. This is 100% false. Francesco was a season ticket holder since he was in high school. He promised his 90 year old father that the Canucks would win a cup in his lifetime. Time is short. The time to win the cup is now. He is all in.
Speaking as someone who has lived in Ottawa for 25 years now, most Sens fans would give anything to have an owner who was willing to spend and support the team like FA does.
He is far from perfect but the guy wants the team to win and puts his money where his mouth is.

You may not like it, but at least it will be a wild ride. Trader Jim has money to spend and trades to make.

If Will Smith was to drop to us it would be a real slap in the face to the other teams.

Imagine growing up as a canucks fan during 2011 cup run and then getting drafted by the hawks.
I am picturing him tossing and turning in his Canucks pjs tonight with Chelsea Dagger playing on repeat in his nightmares. Gross.
