  1. Either Canucks management really don't trust Bachman to be the number 3 guy or they do believe his achilles injury is more severe that he won't be ready to start the season. Good depth, cannot have the same DiPietro incident happen again.
  2. Hopefully this pushes Boeser's pricetag down. First Meier at 6 mil, Kapanen and Johnsson at 3ish mil each But damn Bergevin being ballsy.
  3. wow a one year deal...Simmond betting on himself to get a bigger deal after this deal
  4. Gives Utica a good center to work with finally. He and Gaudette will make a difference for the Comets
  5. LA was very keen on adding Oscar Fatenberg. He isn't anything special but he does simple things right that make him a dependable depth Dman. I like how smooth skating he is.
  6. Chicago really love their old players. Saad, Oduya, Shaw, Ladd, Kruger, Morin, Versteeg are all guys reacquired through trade in the last 4 seasons who previously played with the Hawks.
  7. Kessel had a great relationship with Rick Tocchet so it makes sense why Arizona liked Kessel, but to give up Galchenyuk doesn't make a lot of sense to me. He had a really good season for the Coyotes.
  8. agreed, Baertschi just doesn't play with pace but Bo does. Baertschi honestly looks a bit too slow to play with anyone 5v5. Not a bad skater, but he has very little separation speed that allows him to be in places off the rush, rather has to work off a cycle/give and go kind of style. You could see last year Bo benefited most playing with guys who could play with speed and play off the rush such as Pearson, Virtanen, Roussel, and Leivo.
  9. Canucks should know by now throwing life lines to former players is not working...nepotism is so real with this management/coaching staff Benning: Eriksson, Schaller, Bartkowski, SPooner Green: Leipsic, Pouliot Desjardins: Vey, Etem, Shinkaruk, Bachman, Larsen
  10. I may be alone in this position, but I would love to see Ashton Sautner given a shot at being a full time Dman on the third pairing.
  11. Ristolainen, Bogosian, Miller, and Montour....hmmmmmmmmmm Canucks were sniffing around Montour, Ristolainen, and Bogosian early this off season...wonder if that opens up again.
  12. Just because a kid says that, doesn't exclude the fact that he is still contractually obligated to return to the SHL this next year. Perhaps he is ready, but until Jim Benning and management contractually sign Nils and negotiate with the SIHA (Swedish Ice Hockey Association) - to which they would need to pay out Hoglander's contract to Rogle, Hoglander won't start at main camp. His camp in Sweden starts in August. Its the same reason why Dahlen and Pettersson were not a main camp for the start of the 2017/18 season. Both were contractually obligated to return to Sweden, and once their deal expired then they could attend. It is also the same reason why Vasili Podkolzin won't be at main camp. Sure I would think he would want to be in the NHL right now, but he signed his deal for next two seasons. Same with Hoglander.
  13. Hoglander plays for Rogle in the SHL and their season begins September 14th. https://www.scorespro.com/ice-hockey/sweden/shl/fixtures/ Considering the NHL generally respects agreements with European leagues such as the SHL, most players under contract with there club will return overseas way before they get a chance to reach main camp. European leagues training camp and their preseason starts way before the NHL does. It would not make any sense to make him miss his own training camp, start of the season to have 2 weeks with our group to only cut him and send him back. It is crucial for young players to start their routines and stick to them, and to disrupt that would only impact their development negatively. Unless there is a special agreement or the Canucks sign Nils Hoglander he is contractually obligated to return to the SHL before main camp as he is still signed through til the end of the 20/21 season. https://www.roglebk.se/artikel/s654aji00-3k501/rogle-skriver-kontrakt-med-jattetalang - he signed this deal last summer in 2018 and still has 2 years left on his deal in Sweden. However, Vancouver can choose to pay his contract out to Rogle according to the SHL and NHL agreement https://www.habseyesontheprize.com/2015/11/13/9696344/shl-siha-swedish-hockey-league-transfer-agreement-william-nylander-peter-forsberg-nicklas-lidstrom But considering our glut of forwards and Hoglander just being recently drafted, I would think Canucks are in no rush to get Hoglander into the lineup. So don't expect him or other Euro contract based players at camp like Toni Utunen, Karel Plasek, Arvid Costmar, Vasili Podkolzin.
  14. Luongo retiring and now takimg on a 2.2 recapture period begins to tighten our wallet a bit for the FA marlet which is also a good and bad thing. Stan Smyl on radio 650 said they do have a contingency plan for this situation but does alter their plans for FA this summer. They said likely it impacts how the Canucks chase a forward noe and not so much on Myers contract
  15. https://theprovince.com/sports/hockey/ben-kuzma-ben-hutton-not-qualified-not-traded-not-part-of-canucks-future?utm_term=Autofeed&utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1561509827
  16. Only two guys I would be interested in from the whole list is Nick Cousins and Ryan Hartman, but then again we have a slew of bottom six guys. Thanks for posting the list!
  17. I would take a stab at Joe Morrow. Not flashy, but he is simple and plays a safe style to be a good bottom pairing/spare Dman position. I don't like Beaulieu all that much anymore. he seems to he challenges with making good decisions with and without the puck.
  18. New Jersey looking to bolster there scoring. Wonder if we can trade a glut of forwards for Damon Severson. 4 years left at 4.16 mil. Age 24 and had a breakout season last year for the Devils. Wonder if they are interested in a guy like Virtanen, Goldobin?
  19. I could live with a 4-5 years deal for Myers, but anything over that no thanks. He is not that essential of a piece on the blueline. I'm all for going for Dmen in FA, but need to know your price and when to walk away. Explore other options elsewhere.
