  1. A few notes about the draft part aside - After seeing how the playoffs has been played, he notices that having big and strong players make a difference. - Will draft Best player available at pick number 10 - want to draft skill and speed with their picks this year, but also would like to draft more bigger and stronger players this years draft after seeing how this playoffs have been played. Wants players that can play a vital part to the team while adding toughness and grit - "We would like to draft some bigger kids". - Doesn't foresee any movement going higher into the draft position but he likes some players ranked below pick number 10 and could look to move down to acquire them. - Isn't looking to move any young players to acquire more picks.
  2. Makes you wonder too if that situation occurred, I doubt Loui would report to Utica which could possibly lead to a mutual termination of the contract? I get the argument would be that he would be leaving money on the table, but if his NHL career is in jeopardy, maybe he walks away with a clean sheet. Im sure a team would sign him to a cheap contract still.
  3. Someone in a walking boot eh? Guy is fitting into the organization already!
  4. There are a million different ways that society should be addressing bullying, but blaming dodgeball is the one they choose. smh
  5. Every summer so far since we acquired him, I have this annoyance with Goldy's commitment level and leaves me saying the hell with him. But every single time I come back to the thought just hold on just a bit longer with him, he will get it. So yet again I'm renewing my confidence in Goldy. A new agent, a full year in the NHL, and a real good taste what he needs to do to be a consistent top six forward on this team, has no more excuses, its now or never with him.
  6. I like that St Louis and Boston have 3 PK units instead of the conventional 2 units. Cycling through 3 units definitely seems a lot more functional and preserves players too. Canucks need to look into that. You have 3 excellent defensive centers in Horvat, Sutter, and Beagle. Just need to mix and match the proper wingers in Motte, Roussel, Pearson, and maybe perhaps MacEwen.
  7. The Blues are swarmed largely due to the Blue's inability to make good tape to tape passes on the transition. Bruins owning this first period
  8. https://www.sportsnet.ca/650/the-playbook/ryan-biech-breaks-things-prospects-moves-canucks-can-make/ Ryan Biech who is a writer for Canucks army and tracks a lot of draft prospects every single year (the only credible CA writer and prospect writer) made some very good assessments of some players such as Broberg, Krebs, Newhook. I had asked about Broberg, and Biech mostly commented saying that Broberg lacks processing ability and often gets himself into trouble making bad decisions. However, his physical tools are very impressing, but cautions about getting enamored with his physical skill set. Biech said he would take Moritz Seider over Broberg
  9. 113 people are talking about this 39 people are talking about this Interestingly enough, he hired former teammate Brendan Lemieux’s father Claude as his new agent. Roslovic has one more year on his entry-level deal before he becomes a restricted free agent without arbitration rights. It makes sense that he would want to play on a line higher than the fourth line so he can make more money. He was a guy I had my eyes on for a while since the year he was taken after Brock Boeser. Kid has slick hands and is a very good skater. If true, he would be an ideal fit alongside Bo Horvat. Good thing is that Jack Roslovic can play centre and wing. For whatever reason Winnipeg tried to bury him underneath their depth, but kid seems like he has had enough. Too bad considering he would've been Kevin Hayes' replacement as the 2nd line center likely. Only 22, and one year left on his ELC, he should be a guy to target and may not be at the same level of demand like other established top six forwards. Plays the middle on the PP for the 1-3-1 set up. Could be the missing link on the first unit powerplay for that bumper position between Brock and Petey. Wonder what the cost would be to get him. Surely Winnipeg would like a Solid return. Juolevi for Roslovic?
  10. I know most will say BS its TSN 1040, please don't shoot the messenger, just posting so people have access to what is on social media atm. Sportsnet 650 Satir Shah reported that the morning segment with Jim Benning when he joined Perry Solkowski, James Cybulski, and Rick Dhaliwal that the price on a top 4 dman and top six forward are steep and the value of the Canucks players "outside of the core 4" perceived by other teams (Virtanen, Demko, Juolevi etc) have not been received well by the Canucks management.
  11. JB and co have shown no interest in the past when they actually had lots more cap space/flexibility to do so. Doubt they will change that tune. Team is coming to a critical juncture where Boeser, Pettersson, Hughes need new contracts for next season or in 2 seasons. On top of that you have to think about the future of having Horvat eventually extended and Stecher etc.
  12. This is how I feel about the Swede Dman. Soderstrom is good, but could likely leave you wanting a lil more. Broberg can be an absolute gamer, but lacks processing ability, which will frustrate you.
  13. Went with Zegras, Krebs, Soderstrom. I like Zegras because despite his lanky size, he has ability to engage physically. Posted 92 PIMS for the US national development program and yet scored at a prolific rate behind Hughes and Caufield. Very versatile on the wing or centre. I read somewhere that scouts saw him very much like Elias Pettersson, where he won't get much notoriety on draft day, but he will be sneaky good. Krebs, I like how he can be that heart and soul kind of player. Literally can pick up the team on his shoulders and keep going. Very much reminiscent of Bo Horvat. You wonder if you take him, he could line up with Bo or Petey and be a very solid complementary piece in the top six. Soderstrom, soemthing about his game looks so refined for a 18 year old kid. He is so poised in all aspects, and his willingness to engage in hard battles for his size reminds me of Troy Stecher's willingness and resilience. May be a very safe pick, but I like that his game is so refined, makes you wonder what his potential could be like if his game is so refined already. Could be that solid top pairing guy with Hughes.
  14. One guy that I think the Canucks should target to be Utica's number one center is either Brandon Pirri from the Vegas Golden Knights (who is exceptional at the AHL level and spot duty in the NHL) or Andrew Poturalski from the Charlotte Checkers. Based on the AHL vet rule, Brandon Pirri would count as one of the veterans on the team that already has 2 signed in Carter Bancks and Wacey Hamilton. Andrew Poturalski has played less than 260 games (240) so he would still be considered as a "developing prospect" by the AHL game rules, which will be important considering the Comets will have an influx of veterans possibly in Spooner, Schaller, and Biega. Utica lacking that number one center since Cal O'Reilly has hurt the team. Brandon Pirri 2018-19 SEASON STATS GP G A PTS +/- PIM PPG SHG GWG TOI S PTSPG YTD 31 12 6 18 7 6 3 0 3 14:27 82 0.58 Playoffs 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 17:15 5 0.00 SCOUTING REPORT Has a wealth of skill and shooting ability. Can both set up linemates and finish plays off with aplomb. He shoots the puck often, too, which helps him produce good numbers. Is an extremely streaky scorer and generally lacks consistency. Also lacks a bit of bulk for his 6-0 frame and the physical strength to win board battles with regularity. Long Range Potential: Talented, inconsistent versatile scorer Andrew Poturalski SCOUTING REPORT Has a knack for being in the right place at the right time to produce offense at lower levels. Is equally effective setting up linemates and finishing plays off himself. Can be an asset on the power play. Does not have ideal size (5-10, 180 pounds) for the National Hockey League game, so he must add more bulk and get physically stronger in order to maximize his appearances (and production) there. Long Range Potential: Solid scoring forward with a little upside.
  15. With his ability to score off the rush and two way ability, could he be Bo's winger to complete a secondary scoring/shut down line?
  16. Panarin would be such a great fit for us but not sure he would want to come here. Would definitely complete that secondary scoring alongside Horvat and Pearson, and would give us some real threat on the powerplay. Replace Boeser on the left half wall which could give us both a playmaking/shooting threat on both sides.
  17. Only trade if he signs a long term extension. Isn't the reason why he didn't sign a long term with Winnipeg was due to wanting to go back out East in the US? Pretty sure he has little interest in coming out West, especially to a Canadian team. My Money is on Detroit, Buffalo or NYR.
  18. Not concerned about this, still very early in the process of the offseason. Obviously not ideal to have to wait this out, but then again, this process took a while to get our future captain signed...wasn't it late august/early september?. I'll get more anxious if it hits mid August and there is a huge chasm in between the two parties. But just because we are Canuck fans and this is CDC.
  19. Rejects deal to go to Minny because he wants to play for a contender, but in reality they are in a middle of a retooling. Won two cups, obviously is packing it in early.
