  1. Can this team actually win with this group? Starting to question this core we have here. The compete level simply hasnt been good enough.
  2. Getting really close to no longer wanting JT Miller on this team.
  3. I have to wonder if he is taking out Vasili because he is the only player currently in the forward group that doesn't play a special teams position. Taking him out in favor of Chiasson is to plug Chiasson back onto the PP, while the slew of Dowling, Lammikko, Highmore play PP or PK of some sort. That is my guess....definitely don't agree with it though.
  4. Kid from Richmond BC. Canucks should strive to assemble players that represent all regions of BC haha. Hunt - Maple Ridge Juulsen - Surrey Petan - Delta Burroughs - Vancouver Stephens - Whiterock Abby Canucks Lukosevicius - Squamish Nielsen - Fort St John
  5. Jasek is at 14 points on the season and tied for 3rd most points in the Lliga league.
  6. He was really solid tonight. He and Sautner have provided a very stable presence on the blueline. Both were first out for PK duties and were out there in the final minutes trying to secure the win. Woo has noticeably been better with the puck compared to last season, he is seeing the ice better which has led to better first passes out of the zone and is shooting a lot more. Two preseasons ago, he treated the puck like a hand grenade but since then you can see a drastic improvement in his puck handling skills. One area he needs to work on which comes with experience is pinching in the ozone and neutral zone. He sometimes wanders too much in the neutral zone looking for a hit that occasionally puts him out of position, or is too aggressive trying to hold the puck in when he should choose to hang back. I also think his skating could use a half a step quicker and he would be a lot more effective in his coverage and might help him compensate such an aggressive game. But arguably could be the Abby Canucks most important dman as he also plays first unit powerplay and first unit PK, while working as the shutdown pair with Sautner.
  7. Reign win it on the powerplay after DiPietro makes 3 splendid cross crease saves and 2 huge blocks by Ashton Sautner. Unfortunate ending to a hard fought game for the Canucks. Thought Juulsen and Sautner both had solid outings. Not at all impressed with Madison Bowey's play in OT and Justin Bailey's lapse in judgement to ice the puck when his line was out late in the third. Plays like that won't earn their ticket back into the show for the parent club. DiPietro didn't look sharp tonight fought the puck a bit. He hasn't been great in his first two outings this season.
  8. For the 2nd game in a row, Madison Bowey takes another bad tripping penalty in OT. Reign to the PP with 15 seconds in OT. I am not impressed with Madison Bowey's game overall. I can see why he has struggled to get back into the NHL, he makes a lot of bad plays with the puck that get himself into defensive issues and penalty trouble.
  9. And just like that with less than 2 mins to go Justin Bailey makes a bad defensive play to ice the pucka nd the Reign ties it late 3-3.
  10. Canucks get the go ahead goal! 3-2 Justin Bailey pulls the Nucks ahead after a hard working play by Sheldon Dries. Lost the faceoff but used his small 5'9'' to body the puck out of the zone and Bailey's speed creates a 2 on 1 and buries it.
  11. Resilient group, Reign like last game dictated a lot of the game but the Canucks have stormed back to tie things up.
  12. Over tonight's feed and last game vs the Reign, their broadcaster has used the word "dispossessed" almost every 2-3 minutes when the teams turnover the puck. Could almost establish a drinking game.
  13. The blame goes all around tonight. The heat is on...If the Canucks don't win in their next few games I could see heads rolling.
  14. This is unacceptable. To lose to Detroit and to be losing to the Sabres when we should be heavy favourites is completely unacceptable. I give Travis Green a few games before he gets yanked. Although at this point there are issues up and down this organization.
  15. I hope Petan clears for the sake of Abbotsford. Abbotsford really could use a playmaking center in Petan.
  16. Special teams needs to be better. I look right at the PK. Strangely enough over Green''s tenure he has failed to develop any of our own prospects to play this role. Constantly this team has consistently had to go out to acquire pieces to play the PK. Considering that the last 3 years the only player that has considerably been developed to play the PK is Tyler Motte, but yet against wasn't a prospect for us. As much as the tactics and overall execution has to be better by the players and Baumgartner who institutes the plans. Green has to be better at developing PK players from within. As of now, considering its a carousal of guys in there because Green hasn't done his job in developing guys to be there. Its time to see our home grown talent like Hoglander, Podkolzin, Rathbone put in those positions to grow so this team doesn't have to constantly buy these pieces in free agency or trade.
  17. Wish Travis Green and Nolan Baumgartner would do a better job at load management on the blueline and give Rathbone and Burroughs some more minutes. I know he is trying to protect this pairing, but they have shown through 3 games they have been very reliable in getting the puck up quick and playing simple and safe hockey. Hughes' and OEL's pairing cannot be logging 25+ minutes a night without potential injuries occurring. I've really liked Burroughs just keeping his game simple and steady. Thats all we need from a third pairing guy.
  18. Ontario should be a fun team to watch lots of young talent and skillful players. Thought despite much of the game held in the Canucks end, we did well to keep Ontario much to the outside. Something about the Ontario group is that they have a very small forward group so they often were able to pull quickly from the outside but had difficulty penetrating the middle. Thought Sautner, Woo, Juulsen and Brubacher had strong games defensively.
  19. Canucks get their first Franchise win as Silovs shuts the door in all 4 shootout rounds and Di Giuseppe gets the winner in the fourth round. 3-2 Canucks. Silovs was excellent tonight.
  20. Madison Bowey takes a bad penalty in OT and Canucks kill off a big 4v3 penalty in OT. Sautner played the full 2 mins of the PK due to some sloppy PK work by Di Giuseppe which kept Sautner on for the full PK shift. Sautner had 2 big blocks and Silovs made 2 huge big saves. No real offense for the Canucks in the OT.
