  1. Benn was a good soldier for us. Low maintenance, went about his business without a fuss, and was a good teammate, standing up for them when he needed to. Glad he got another gig in the big leagues, his pro career has been something to really marvel at too. Went undrafted, made his trade in the BCHL and ECHL until he was finally given a chance at age 22 before he was given a shot in the AHL. Played hard enough for a look at the NHL...and since then has been a solid player for 10 seasons. Soft spot for this BC boy.
  2. Lockwood is a darkhorse for me to steal the 4RW spot. If he does I feel he might make Tyler Motte expendable as they do very similar things. Perhaps recoup a pick or another player asset.
  3. Miller-Pettersson-Boeser Hoglander-Horvat-Garland Pearson-Dickinson-Podkolzin Motte-Sutter-Highmore/MacEwen Ekman Larsson-Poolman Hughes-Hamonic Juolevi/Hunt-Myers Demko Halak At some point I do think the Canucks will eventually need to upgrade the 3rd pairing LHD slot and potentially another physical bottom six winger that is more consistent than Highmore or MacEwen.
  4. I love Rick Jeanneret, the way he calls games and goals is legendary. The prolonged "Scooooooooooooressss" is the best in the NHL.
  5. Glad they are giving Keppen another look. Thought he had a really rough draw getting hurt in his D+1 year and then basically getting no playing time in his D+2 year to prove himself. This is a very smart bet and great signing. Lots of CHL based signings with Nielsen, Kannok-Leipert, Keppen, and Wouters on AHL deals. For a while had thought the Canucks were pretty bad at developing CHL prospects, but this is a great way to farm that league as well.
  6. It made me laugh when his agent came out to say Zadorov was looking for 5+ mil for his contract.
  7. I liken to this experience back to when I was at the sky train station at water front, and saw a guy and a girl ugly drunk break up with each other in public. It was loud, unnecessary, awkward, yet the most entertaining thing that you just couldn't look away.
  8. Definitely, gets also muddied because CHL teams can only have I think up to 2 import draft players. To be an overager and an import draft pick would make it difficult to git him in. However, I don't know Barrie's situation so it may be okay.
  9. Considering that the Canucks traded out 3 of their regular PK players to Arizona, I hope Green is more inclined to use to younger options like Podkolzin on the PK. Generally Green goes with veterans and doesnt really even dabble much into guys like Bo Horvat or JT Miller unless he has to. Hopefully Podkolzin shows well in camp and preseason to earn some looks on the PK. Can already see Green and Baumgartner defaulting to using Sutter-Motte & Dickinson-Pearson. This team has been guilty of buying special teams players instead of developing them. Podkolzin would be a major asset on the PK and PP.
  10. Considering Columbus only has 4 signed goalies and the Canucks have 5. I wonder if Silovs finds himself in Kalamazoo to get games. I'd imagine some of the AHL signed contracts lget sent down too.
  11. The way Kannok-Leipert fights reminds me a lot of Rypien's.
  12. Huge Kannok-Leipert fan. Love how they are really going after local talent and giving them a chance. This will certainly draw more local interest as fans, but going forward with BC born players.
  13. According to Dhaliwal on Chek TV, Canucks are still hammering out visa paperwork stuff to get Klimovich and Podkolzin to Russia, due to the pandemic it is taking some time. However, he said not to worry, that the Canucks will get both Danila and Vasily at training camp one way or another.
  14. Russia is missing several big name players...I wouldn't be concerned not seeing Z there for this tourney. The one that is most telling would be the Karjala cup and (in a normal year) the Russia vs CHL tournament whether Zlodeyev is on their radar or not.
  15. Tidy piece of business by JB. Solid offseason so far, very fitting that the ending of the offseason starts with signing his two premier stars in Huggy and Petey. Getter done JB.
  16. I still have him pegged to come back next year and likely earn a spot in the bottom six as the Canucks look to flesh out cheaper options in the bottom six in a years time. Still a big Jasek believer.
  17. Jarid Lukosevicius was a prospect attendee in 2018 https://www.vancouverisawesome.com/courier-archive/news/better-know-a-2018-canucks-camp-invitee-jarid-lukosevicius-3078205
  18. In few games he has played for the Canucks he was adequate. Plays a tad too passively. With his size, reach, and strength, he has to be aggressive in closing his gaps quicker. Good depth for Abbotsford.
  19. Perhaps biased because I keep watching that 1987 VHS tape of the team, but that team was just so dynamic with 99 and 66. But have a huge soft spot for the 2002 team.
  20. With the absence of a sound defensive minded LHD in Edler, Juolevi has room to grow into that role. If Juolevi can develop that part of his game and show case that at training camp, he might edge out Rathbone and Hunt who are primarily offensive dman.
