honestly, should Van look at trading Markstrom?

You can tell Marky has bought into this team. He loves competing, and has found his groove. I doubt he wants to go anywhere. I think he's enjoying being a mentor to Demko, and looking good doing it. Keep Marky around, because if he can pass even a chunk of what he's learned from Clarke/Cloutier/Rollie. Demkos going to be a hell of a tendy.
Elite 1C - Petterson
Elite 1W - Boeser
Elite 2C - BoHo
Elite OD - Hughes??
Elite G - Demko??
Just need a Vlasic type, and some a couple top 6 wingers and we have ourselves a cup. -
His value is never going to be higher imo, and I don't think he's ever going to be the guy that leads this team through the playoffs. He's played well this year and especially in the second half of the season, but there's a recency bias that comes with it. When this (http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?encode=TRUE&pid=112727) is what his career looks like, one really has to worry about Markstrom's capacity to backstop a winning team. He's not a bad goalie, per se, but I don't think he's going to be winning us any cups.
I don't know what effect Markstrom's guardianship will really have on Demko... People /love/ the idea that older players take younger players under their wing and show them how to play NHL hockey--but does it actually happen the way people argue it does? What can Markstrom show to or impart in Demko that goalie coaches can't? I'm not sure there's very much merit in these apprenticeships you keep hearing exist tbh.
