  1. Be careful. 73 Percent posted just an hour ago and might be lurking. But yeah--I'm not sure NYI takes him in a redraft done today. Denisenko is whom they probably would have taken if they had the hindsight of the last year we now have the benefit of.
  2. we might not draft Hughes at this rate

You still need a bit of luck even if you finish last in the league.  We’ll just need a bit more luck.

It's the Neil young ditty(sung by Nicolette):

It's gonna take a Lotto-luck, to change the way things are

x2, or we won't get too far

So if we're thinkin' now of tankin', we'd better start to swoon

Team needs rejuvenatin', not guys like Spoooonnnn(flute solo)

  3. Well, uh, BJ, I think you look stupid when you wear a tie.
  4. I gotta think MR is the man. He came so close last time and I think by that merit has as much of a stake in this as I do. ngl though I've been really bitter about my season since it happened. I shouldn't have participated that year.
  5. Five-star movie inspired by my epic run to the title this year, named 112 Reasons to Scumhunt: Music playing over scene: Scene: NIGHTFALL, LYLO ENTER: 112 and the last wolf. 112 kills the last wolf after killing off all other mafia in the game and voting wolf every round while her team overpowered her in votes and mislynched every night; she played brilliantly so as to avoid even the slightest suspicion from the wolves that she might be the vigilante. ENTER: Gary Bettman and two personnel in suits moving a table with the Vito Corleone Cup out to centre-ice. The cheers from the crowd turn into boos as the commissioner picks up the microphone and begins to speak. (This is depicted in a way that added, seriocomically, a greater level of depth and emotional in-tuneness that would be highly acclaimed as being historically accurate and cinematically important by critics.) Gary Bettman: Congratulations, CDC, on your victory here tonight; your representative has demonstrated a great talent in the game of mafia and moreover the qualities of perserverense, sportsmanship, and humility that we believe in and so strongly endorse here in the National Mafia League. 112, please come over to me, lift the Cup, and enjoy your earned victory. 112 lifts the Cup over her head, tears in her eyes like Raymond Bourque, and skates around the rink as the camera fades from colour into black and white. A montage of all 112's greatest mafia accomplishments, re-enacted by actors, is played, and it cuts between videos of 112 staring up at the jumbotron, unable to articulate herself properly to the reporters accosting her for interviews, and the most intelligent and impressive of her highlights. 6. I would love to have BJ represent us at the tournament, provided he is. He's absolutely a perfect candidate for his beastly play here and dedication to the community.
  7. dragging it through the mud. smh Sean's a valued member of our CDC community #StandWithSean
  8. Jett Woo: Good prospect. Does hockey stuff.
  9. :') I know we'd likely start playing one of our centres on the wing if we were to draft Hughes (or any other high-ranked C, for that matter, who realizes their potential), but it would be very hard to escape the temptation of running this: Pettersson Hughes Horvat Gaudette down the middle.
  10. I don't think his reasoning extends to Gaudette, lol. Adam tracked very well from his draft day to the day at which he became an NHL player, whereas Lind has hit a major wall in his development before even playing an NHL game. Realistically things are not looking good for this guy's future in hockey.
  11. I don't think he's even a Flames fan lol
  12. I think it'll be best for Madden's development if he spends at least another year (probably, ideally, two years) in college before trying to make the transition to the professional game. It would allow him to develop physiologically without the exhausting schedules and increased injury risks associated with playing in the AHL/NHL, and I think he would also benefit from developing the technical aspects of his game at the NCAA. Dominating the league over the next couple of years could easily be better for his long-term outlook than potentially being shut down in the big(ger) boy's leagues, particularly if the coaches there aren't going to be patient with him or will attempt to coach the flair out of his game. The raw skill he's able to regularly display reflects well on him, and I'm thrilled we were able to land him where we did. It's refreshing to see that a focus for Vancouver's scouting/drafting recently has been talent and hockey IQ more so than size, pork, and root vegetables as has historically been the case. Madden's crafty and clearly has top-6 upside/potential; I didn't mean to imply otherwise in my last post--rather I meant it's still up in the air as to whether he'll realize it. I'm probably higher on him than I am on any of our other prospects not playing in the NHL right now, fwiw.
  13. If Byram's off the board, I really hope we stay away from defencemen with our first pick. There will be more quality in the available forwards wherever we select.
  14. You have Leivo and Madden on the second line. I like Leivo, but he's not a top-6 player on a team in the hunt for the playoffs; and Madden, while of rising stock, has not demonstrated he has the capacity to play in the NHL, let alone on a line expected to produce in a major way offensively. It's more likely he's not a top-6 guy than that he is. Have you seen Lind's stat line this year? What about him--other than his draft placement--makes you think he'll just slot perfectly into a third-line role? He is struggling hard rn. MacEwan does not have an NHL future. Jasek does not have an NHL future. Lockwood could turn into--if he reaches his ceiling--a good third line player; I'll give you that. But Gadjovich does not have an NHL future either, and Karlsson's never going to help much. These are dime-a-dozen prospects you're listing; you think they're good because you're forgetting the scores of similar players we've had in development in past years that haven't planned out. You're going to forget most of these guys, too, because they are forgettable. Why do you think Sturm is going to be an NHL player? (Have we even signed him? I know there were rumours of Van's interest but don't recall that the team actually signed him.) Is Gaudette a third-line centre? Maybe, but he's not there yet. Hell- Woo and Juolevi could both flunk out of professional hockey still, and you have the two of them, along with someone who hasn't even been drafted yet, making up 3/4 of the top-4 in your line-up. That projected line-up could genuinely compete for worst bottom-9 in the league, and it argues wonderfully for the idea that teams have to acquire assets through trades and free agency in addition to just drafting, lest they become suchlike an abomination. You're presuming that every young player we have under contract is going to reach their absolute ceiling, which is ridiculous.
