  1. It wouldn't even make the playoffs.
  2. Definitely. With all respect to our current D corps, everyone on it seems to have too much difficulty with the breakout and offensive-zone entries. Some of it can be blamed on our wingers, but I think a more adept, mobile and transitionally-inclined blueline will be crucial in allowing us to score on the rush more often and establish offensive-zone presence. It's particularly annoying when, on the powerplay, we keep getting our plays broken up before we're able to set up or even get through neutral ice. At the NHL level, you really don't want to be playing the dump-and-chase game; typically it means you're being shut down. I'm hopeful that OJ can conduce offense when he makes the team--good first-pass and general counter-rush abilities are things we're still in need of on the back-end, even with Hughes.
  3. He's stylistically comparable to Rantanen and P. Forsberg. He combines his physicality with his agility, stickhandling abilities and superior vision to control play in the offensive zone. The kid's a playmaker first and foremost--he's the type of player who is going to have the quality of making his linemates better in the NHL. Skilled in all aspects, deceptive, plays hard and has the intelligence to use his tools as well as can be expected. I'll do a flip if we land him.
  4. I imagine without them the league would have trouble staying in operation.
  5. I remember when they played it at Roger's Arena in memory of Pat Quinn. Great song.
  6. We have three 6th rounders this draft. I'm not well enough informed on jr hockey/prospects to know of any myself, but does anyone have any favourites who might be available in the later rounds? Over-agers to look at?
  7. Lol thanks for changing your avatar I legit keep thinking MR is you
  8. tfw u blew your opportunity at world-wide mafia glory bcuz your brain did a silly. I'd be interested in giving it another shot, but likewise MR*'s condition, only if no one who hasn't had a go at it is wanting to play.

Yes please. Byram would be great on the right side. Boasts a good shot already, putting more rubber at the net technically should boost those numbers. Wouldn't doubt if he was a 20 goal d-man.

Burns was a RW when drafted though. It's quite a bit different from center. Besides - Jacques Lemaire thought it's be interesting to see what Brent could do as a d-man. After seeing a couple brilliant plays from the blue line he decided to give it a whirl and it turned out to be a very natural conversion for him. Not every body can do that.

  11. I'm hosting a party here when the Canucks win the draft lottery April 9th - mark it on your calendar be there or be square
  12. Trade Eriksson for Kovalchuk imo.

Kovalchuk could bail and his cap hit would stay on the books - it's an age 35 contract.  He also only plays offence and Green demands a 200ft game.

I'd rather gamble on Lucic, and least when he's motivated he can play a physical game.

Great idea! Even if Kovy isn't an upgrade on the ice, at least his contract ends when it needs to (when Pettersson & Hughes need extensions).

I don't know if Kovalchuk would go for it though. I think part of the draw was living in LA.
