  1. It wasn't really that bad of a hit, Sedin just hit the glass wrong.
  2. They are worth less than nothing, what's the issue?
  3.     That's a bad d-man corps. Stanton should be no where near getting top 4 minutes, he's likley a depth guy on a contender.
  4. For the record, the 82 Canucks won their first 3 rounds of the playoffs beating teams who had worse records than them during the season. It was less about upsetting superior teams and more about about having better teams lose out before they played them. IN fact, the Canucks would have been favorites in each series they won.
  5. The problem with going 7-0, or 6-1 for that matter, is that even if the team plays well, it's tough to win every game against decent opponents. There is a lot of randomness in hockey, and even though the Canucks played very well last night, they only got one point. It will take a ton of luck to go 6-1. And even then, it only gives the Canucks a 30% chance to make the playoffs.
  6. That's pretty clear, you don't know. The Canucks are about 70 goals behind the elite teams in terms of goal differential, about 1 per game. That's a huge amount. The Canucks are only 8 goals ahead of the Flames in goal differential.
  7. If Vancouver ends up with 90 points (going 8-2), Minny needs to finish 3-8-1 to tie the Canucks. Not going to happen.
  8. When you need a number of teams to lose who are in front of you, it doesn't help when those teams play each other. One has to win, and the Canucks need to gain on everyone.
  9. Sports Club Stats says that if we go 9-1 the rest of the way, we've got about a 52% chance. 8-2 and it's down to 18.9%. The problem the Canucks have is they each each of Dallas, Phoenix and Winnipeg (who are 1 points behind the Canucks with a game in hand) to choke at the same time. If those 3 teams finish the season playing .500 (and there are only 6 teams in the NHL who play worse than .500), the Canucks need to go 8-1-1 to make the playoffs. Yeah they have a chance, but let's not talk about that it's likely to happen. The other teams have 3-4 games in hand, that's huge.
  10. With all due respect, if management honestly believes that the playoffs are a possibility, the fans are clearly smarter than management. You know, fans don't have to agree with everything that management believes. They are capable of independant thought. It's actually encouraged.
  11. But isn't the job of the coach to motivate the players into playing well? Based on what you are saying, the coach has no effect on the team. How can you say Torts "has done well"? What actually has he done other than have the Sedins playing tougher minutes in the defensive zone that they are used to, thereby sucking their offence from them. Previous management had the Sedins taking the majority of their face-offs in the offensive zone, thereby tasking advantage of their skill set. Torts has them taking defensive face-offs on a regular basis, which is simply not their game. Putting players in a position to succeed is the job of the coach, and Torts has failed miserably in that regard.
  12. The Canucks will have high draft picks for a number of years in the future, so I wouldn't worry if I was you.
  13. But only two years left, which is a factor for a team that is considered less desirable.
  14. I hope that Gillis doesn't make that mistake again, thinking that he can get a large amount of young talent/picks for Luongo. It forced him to dump Schneider for a draft pick (which may well turn out pretty good).
  15. Fox was a undrafted free agent a little while ago and anyone could have had him for free. Stanton was put on waivers and fell all the way to the Canucks. When guys like that are on your "untouchable list", your team is in trouble. I get it that you are putting the younger players on the list, but guys like Stanton and Fox represent little upside.
  16. Actually, the Canucks are 5 points out of the 6th seed, and LA has a game in hand. The Canucks are also 3 points ahead of the 6th draft pick, and Nashville has a game in hand. So, assuming a game in hand is worth a point, the Canucks are 6 points out of the 6th seed, and 2 points ahead of the #6 draft pick. And any non-playoff team can win the lottery.
  17. If you have to explain your joke, it likely wasn't very funny.
  18. Firstly, even Hank isn't on a 70 point pace if he had played all games. The days of them getting 70+ points is likely gone. And secondly, if they aren't getting points, the Sedins are doing much else.
  19. YOu over rate Stanton hugely. He's a bottom pairing d-man, the type you can find on waivers quite regularly. Oh I agree he's been a decent find, but he's getting sheltered minutes, and likely will never be a top 4 pairing type guy. Colorado likely won't trade ROR, and if they do it will be for the best d-man they can find. it won't be for a collection of stuff.
