  1. All those who are screaming for Demko to be traded are totally forgetting how important it is to have a real #1. Do you not remember what it was like in the early 2000's when Dan Cloutier was the starter? The Canucks would have been deep into the playoffs several seasons... except we had Cloutier as our go to goalie. Remember what a difference it made when we got Luongo??? How much would the Coilers like to have Demko... or any number of other teams? You don't trade a stud goalie.
  2. This is exactly what I was worried about... we are now seeing the coaches bounce... and it will move the Canucks up in the standings and screw our chances of top 3 pick.
  3. Personally I think they should play Demko as if he was a backup for the rest of the season. That means a start every 3-4 games. Let Delia and Silovs carry the weight.... ease Demko back in... with lots of rest between starts. Let him get some muscle mass back, let him get completely toned and ready. No point in doing what they did last year, where they overplayed him in an effort to make the playoffs. There is no chance of making the post season this year.... just take it easy.
  4. That has always been the case. We need a #2 to match with Hughes and a real #3 to go with Bear. OEL would be fine as a #5 along with one of the multitude of #6's the team has. (if Schenn is still here, he would be that #6) The situation was made worse with Green not knowing how to coach. Either Boudreau or our current coach would have success with those defensive changes. Demko is a stud... one of the best in the league. My concern is we will sacrifice him to get a stupid boost this season when what happens this year is unimportant. All that matters is that he is healthy for the start of next year.
  5. Beauvillier is playing well and taking advantage of his opportunities. But folks... remember who he is playing with... Pettersson... Anyone on that line gets plenty of chances. And having Hughes set one up for you is also a bonus.
  6. Yes and No.... Pettersson has amazing PK ability.... he is a threat to score every time his is on the ice... you gotta use that. Personally I think he should be used sparingly.... only when the Canucks are behind in the score.
  7. Another example of an unnecessary strain on Demko's groin: Saving that two on one... he didn't look good after that stretch.
  8. You don't know your a$$ from a hole in the ground. Demko is not being traded.
  9. No doubt I will get lots of negative replies to this... I think they are playing Demko too early. He looks really good... but the risk he could be injured is not worth sacrificing a guarantee he is totally recovered. The only potential benefit to playing him is it will jump the team in the standings. But that would potentially eliminate any decent chance of picking top 3. That side to side save versus Pavelski is an example of the type of strain which could undo all the hard work and rest which Demko has put in. Better to play Delia and Silovs... know you have Demko in top condition for next year... plus a good chance we will draft high.
  10. No, look at the stats. Every Star will tend to feast on cr*p teams, (look at Gretzky and McJesus) Petey is no different, but he does very well against good teams as well.
  11. Hate the Bruins... Hate to lose to them.... BUT; - We needed the TANK - Marchand did score a goal but he looked like a DOOFUS when he ran into the Ref - Petey's line was excellent all night... and were unlucky not to tie it up... his chemistry with Kuzzie-Boy continues to develop.
  12. Personally I would be over the moon if we got lucky enough to draft Fantilli. He may not be a Bedard, but he is a complete player who can score, backchecks ferociously and is physical. He reminds me of a young Jonathan Toews. I would not want Michkov, we have enough smurfs. With the second first rounder, we need to focus on the D.
  13. You are basing that on us finishing where we are now... 6th worst. Unfortunately the dreaded 'Coaching Bounce' is about to happen, and there's a strong possibility it will get amplified by Demko returning. I think we will probably average .500 for the rest of the season. Which will put us a lot higher in the standings.
  14. Team will finish somewhere between 6-10... the chance of us getting #1 is basically zero. We can hope for a shot at one of the other studs available....that's about all.
  15. It may be that Pettersson will never win the Hart or Art Ross trophies while Connor McDavid is in the league, but I think he has a really good chance of winning the Selke... maybe even regularly. He is improving day by bay defensively, both on the PK and and at even strength, tonight was a good example. He intercepted a pass on the PK, which led to the beginning of the comeback... and then saved a goal when the Canuck net was empty, a goal which would have sealed it for St. Louis. Right now he is easily the team MVP... Demko hasn't been the factor he was last year and JT Miller has come back to earth after his career 2021/2022 season. I wonder if he will make the Selke short list... will be interesting to see.
  16. HIs legs and core are where he has made his biggest gain in strength. A little better upper body, but he is right to focus on the lower body.
  17. So much of the offense for this team starts and and gets resolved with EP40. He caused the turnover, he makes the beautiful pass. If the team behind him could all shoot like Kuzmenko, he'd have 70 assists on the season.
  18. Nahh... Myers is making multiple bad decisions every game... he did it tonight too. He needs a brain scrub... a mental re-set.
