Toronto Management screwed up. They focused on signing Nylander when they should have traded him for defensive help. They have a good young team, with offensive stars, but their defense remains suspect... and it showed in this series with the way the secondary Bruin lines were able to put pucks in the net when faced with the 2nd string Leafs D-men. Now T.O. will need to trade someone to make CAP space. Lotsa miscalculations by the Leafs Brass. --- Not sure Boston is as good as they looked vs the Leafs... they may have trouble with the Bluejackets. Still waiting to see what happens with Washington.... they always have trouble in their first round series... if they can get past the Hurricanes, I think they will be tough to beat.

Gaudreau is fine as long as he is not being hit... he has lots of confidence and spunk. As soon as he gets hit, he shrinks, starting whining to the Refs and starts second guessing himself. That happened in the games the Canucks played vs Calgary. He's gonna have to learn how to play through it like smaller players like Kane. Kane also whines and doesn't like to be hit, but he won't fold.

Really hating MacLean more watching his pandering cr*p this series. Makes a big argument that the goalie interference call on the Flames was wrong and claims the Av's goalie flopped... and he's doing it only to suck up to Calgary fans.... he doesn't actually really care... he's cheering for T.O. and/or Boston. At least Kyprious and Hrudey called him on his bullsh*t.

Is there a number 13 or 23 on the ice???... I can't seem to see them anywhere. I am sorry to say this, I don't like to see a player underachieve, but Gaudreau has completely choked, he had a break away and a penalty shot in the first period and should have scored on at least one of them. Gaudreau got hit a few times and clearly it has put off his game... he is anxious, frightened and has no confidence. So has Monahan... just complete invisibility... lack of fight... Watching him in a scrum when his best buddy Johnny Hockey was getting thrown around and he does absolutely nothing... hangs onto the sleeve of the Av's player and tries not to attract attention. He should have been in there nose to nose with whoever it was. The lack of confidence from these two has rubbed off on the rest of the team too... with the exception of Sam Bennett who although he is not a star has at least kept fighting. Mathew Tkachuk has performed nearly as badly as Monahan and Gaudreau... should have stepped up his physicality and aggression... not there. And Smith is a clown... needs to step up, but not making the big saves he needs to... flopping around dramatically and not stopping anything. I actually feel good about the Canucks if they squeeze in the playoffs next year compared to what I am seeing from the Flames. I think Petey would put up more fight than Gaudreau even if he was getting pushed around.

Is Markstrom now the Elite Goalie he was always projected to be?

You are so full of it its coming out your mouth. I have posted less than 5 polls in my entire time on these forums. -
Toughness and Physicality are defining these playoffs
*Buzzsaw* replied to *Buzzsaw*'s topic in General Hockey Discussion
They need Virtanen to step up his physicality even more and to be willing to fight, and also they need another forward with comparable or larger size. (plus of course the skills) And they need a big D who can hit and be physical.... minimum Edler size. For me its a no-brainer... they need to get Tryamkin back. -

Probably the only type of player who can beat Ovie in a fight is one with comparable size and weight, and a lot longer reach. Because Ovie is so strong, that he can yank the player towards him and the punches connect. And if they connect, they do major damage. You would need to be able to hold him off with the longer reach... maybe Gudbranson could put up a fight... although he is nowhere near as strong. -
Toughness and Physicality are defining these playoffs

It's not the fighting, its the general physicality... In the playoffs the tempo and the hitting get upped dramatically... if you are a smurf team, you don't survive. I am worried that Hughes and Petey will not survive unless they have someone on their line who can provide a real physical edge. Bo will be just fine... in fact he'll probably be a force, and Boes will be ok too because he is getting stronger by the day... but we need a big D and big forward to complement Hughes and Petey. -

Another completely moronic reply which ignores the original valid question in favour of an attempted cheapshot. The fact is, this is a good question and was answered in Marky's favour... and you are too stupid or too drunk to acknowlege that.
