  1. Bear is fine in the 5/6 pairing. Its when he is playing 1/2 or 3/4 that it is a problem. Management has to find a #2 to play along with Hughes and a #4 to play with Hronek. Preferably big guys who are physical and who are reasonably mobile... don't have to have the offensive skills... Hughes and Hronek provide that for the pair they are anchoring. I still think Tryamkin should be a consideration.
  2. Nah... he's a 4th line center. Need someone who has more skill. If somehow Podz could switch to being a center, he'd be perfect 3rd line C... physical, good defensively, and also capable of taking the puck to the net and making plays.
  3. Neither team exactly coming out on fire. Chicago looking like they are reverting to bottom feeder behaviour. Canucks mostly invisible... except Garland... but nobody is on his wavelength.
  4. None of their C's would be #1 on a contender. They don't have a game breaker... last year's first rounder Shane Wright is not what was hoped for... he's still in the OHL.
  5. I'm hoping Silovs can be played for the next home game.
  6. The fact remains: - This team needs at least one top 4 D-man who has size and who can complement Hughes. They do not have anyone who ticks those boxes. They may also need another one in the 5/6 if Schenn doesn't come back and OEL does not recover and play half decently.
  7. Nope, they can easily pass Washington if they don't lose at least 3-4 and Wash continues its downward spiral.
  8. Reasons why the Canucks performed so poorly: - No Demko - Hughes burned out... bad passes, no energy - Remainder of D forgot everything they learned over the last month - Petey, Miller, Boeser, Kuzzy, etc. are all down in the dumps because reality of no playoffs is hitting - Seattle a lot more motivated
  9. Philly lost today, so it is pretty much impossible for the Canucks to go lower in draft position. Just have to hope they don't pass any more teams.
  10. Don't know why so many on this forum are pissed... anyone who looked at the numbers knew this team was not making the playoffs from the day Tocchet took over. Its good he's got them turned around... but pointless for them to charge up to the last game and end up with zero chance at any decent draft.
  11. Excellent result. Team needs to stop picking up points. Hopefully Chicago comes in full of confidence after dousing the Flames and beats the Canucks.
  12. Team is burned out and down in the dumps. Easy to see the reason why. Good news is Tocchet has them playing much better system.... MOST OF THE TIME. And they will have a fresh start new October. Right now, better to lose/lose/lose... and maybe have a chance for a lucky pick at top 5.
  13. Hughes also looks burned out from all the minutes he's had over the last 15 games. Can't grind a player down like that and expect him to keep responding. An older more physically strong player in his career peak could do it, but Hughes is still a kid.
  14. It is not surprising this team is not playing well. Second string goalie, AHL defense and no chance for playoff spot. Seattle on the other hand is very motivated and in position to make the post season. Canucks could delude themselves they had a chance 4 or 5 games ago, now they are basically living the depression of another year with no post season.
  15. WRONG. Marky is an excellent goalie... Edmonton would instantly add him if they got an opportunity. So would a lot of the team's in the league.
  16. Kadri and Huberdeau are good players, but they just don't work with the current team they are a part of. They are secondary players, not franchise. Kadri looked good on Colorado's 2nd line with McKinnon on the 1st. Same with Huberdeau in Florida... he looked good because the Franchise guy, Barkov, took the majority of the opposition attention. And the dirty whiner Mathew Tkachuk also misses his set up guy Gaudreau... who was the perfect complement... meanwhile Gaudreau doesn't have the physical presence on his line to allow him to dangle... Laine is a slacker who only is useful when he gets a gimme he can fire one time.
  17. All the teams and players which were involved in the exchange of players between the Flames, Panthers and Columbus have gone into the toilet with the changes in team chemistry. The lone exception is Colorado, who lost Kadri, and who struggled early but who have come back late in the season. They would be better with Kadri, but their core was sufficiently intact and they survived.
  18. This is why they need to lose to Seattle and the teams which have a playoff chance.
  19. So far so good. Maybe an abortive comeback in the third making the score 4-3 would put the icing on the cake. Good news, Detroit won, bad news Philly lost, although they were beaten by the Blues... which is good. JT almost put the Canucks closer, had the goalie beaten... too bad he didn't feel the pressure and protect the puck a little more.
  20. Good result. Especially since the Wings won and St Louis got a point to keep them ahead of the Canucks in the standings. Still need to have a string of losses to prevent the team from moving up and destroying any chance at a decent pick. Tocchet should be playing Delia or Silovs the majority of the remaining games... no idea why he continues to play Demko like we're in the playoff hunt. Demko should be rested... the key is getting him into next season healthy and ready to go. Idiotic to play him at the rate Tocchet is doing now.
  21. There is exactly ZERO chance of Miller being traded.
  22. Canucks really need to lose this game to prevent them from overtaking Detroit, Washington and St Louis. Otherwise they will end up with nearly zero chance of getting any of the top 5 picks. Realistically the worst they can finish is 26th... behind Philly. No real chance of them finishing worse than Arizona.
