  1. It's all good people... we got a team which is on the rebound with a lot of really promising young stars. Especially EP.
  2. Since we have a moderator who believes in censoring opinions.... I guess I have to post here. PETTERSSON IS NOT A PROSPECT... HE WILL MAKE THE TEAM. Here is what I posted in the main forum before it was censored: --- Written at the end of the 2nd period 1st Pre-season game. ----- Everything about this kid is elite. Shot, puckhandling, vision, passing, skating, protecting the puck, etc. Only thing lacking is strength, and I think that will come. 1. He will make the team out of training camp... not sure as a center or winger... not important. 2. He will score at least 20 goals, and put up at least 40 points... and that is a low estimate. I think there is a very good chance he will put up 50-60 pts. 3. He will be in the conversation for the Calder... if he doesn't win it. 4. He will be part of a transformed Canuck's Power Play. With Boeser in the left circle, Pettersson on the right boards, Horvat in front of the net or at the left side, the Canucks will have the basis for a devastating attack. The real question is who will be on the points... but that actually will not be that important since those points will have an option to distribute to two elite shooters.... players who have incredibly fast releases and incredibly heavy shots.... with Horvat ready to pounce on the rebounds. The only issue which could prevent the above from happening is injuries... but watching this kid... he reminds me of Gretzky, or the Sedins when they were younger... with the same ability to slide away from checks and float away from the heavy pressure... like a waterbug dancing on the waves. I don't think he will get injured... unless someone deliberately injures him with a slash or a high elbow to the head. Ready to be dumped on or laughed at... don't think that will happen.
  3. Not redundant... kid is still listed as a prospect... I am writing in the Canucks area.

My point is HE IS NOT A PROSPECT.

I am predicting he will be a regular.

Are we not allowed to make any posts about players anywhere but in the Roster or Prospects thread??????

    What hooey.

Relax.  Take a chill pill.  Eat a cat.  (You’re way too young to get this)

Are you still going on about this? You made a misplaced post that was moved to its proper sub section. Petty  has not played a regular season game as a canuck, so he is a prospect.

You’re not the first one to predict he would be a regular or any of the other four points you made. However you are the first one to feel to make your own thread about it. Surprise surprise

  4. Nice article... Brock still showing he is a terrific person as well as a great hockey player.
  5. I am reading "Wild Blue". It is a non-fiction book about George McGovern and the crew of the B-24 bomber he flew during WWII. Written by Stephen E Ambrose, the same author who wrote "Band of Brothers" about members of a company of the 101st Airborne. McGovern flew 35 missions over Nazi Germany and occupied Europe during 1944 and 1945. There was a 50% casualty rate for B-24 crews in that time period. Unlike Nixon who served in a non-combat role, McGovern never made an issue of his war service despite the fact he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and three Air Medals... he never hyped his contribution during the 1972 Presidential campaign. Nixon attacked him for being weak and a peacenik... but he risked his life many times in the service of his country and was lucky to survive. More of the same echoes of the current President and his personal draft dodging and attacks on real war heroes... it always seems the right wingers are the first to claim they are patriots but always seem to be lacking when push comes to shove.
  6. Not a fluke that Gadjovich scores twice and had more opportunities. This kid is going to make the Canucks, this year or next.
  7. Ok Folks, you saw this. This was the game when Jake Virtanen announced he was a player... that he belonged in the NHL and that he could change games with his play... perhaps even dominate them. The Canucks didn't win this one... but Jake did. It's been a long development, but it is starting to pay off, and this kid will be a noticeable part of the Canuck's lineup for the forseeable future.
  8. With Boeser out, time for Jake to get some PP time on the second unit. He has a huge snapshot, if he can get his positioning right in front of the net he could score reasonably regularly.
  9. I haven't posted too much about Jake since I said he needed to start watching Gaunce. But I actually think I am seeing a turning point in Jake's development... something is happening and its good. He is starting to use his speed, he is starting to use his strength and he is showing the determination that is required for him to go to the next level. Just about every game now I see him show that special acceleration and speed he is capable of... the speed that is just not available to 95% of NHL players. Frankly after several years of watching him on the bench, watching him being interviewed, and listening to what he says, it was clear to me he was just a kid... he was immature even for his age... which was young for a draft choice anyway. Even though he is a big kid, he lacks the sureness and confidence many others of his age have. And that immaturity also made him slower to learn... slower to anticipate and understand the game around him. But that is starting to change. The ice time he has under his belt is starting to pay off. I know a lot of people are frustrated he is not developing at the pace they want to see, but he is developing. I think Coach Green understands him, and understands how to bring him along. He is gonna be fine.
  10. It's a shame Sven gets his likely career season cut off in the middle... what can you say? He was a quiet but important contributor to the success the team had to this point. Get well soon Bear-Cheese!!
  11. Why would they want to do that? Burmistrov is not the player Granny is. I can understand they don't want to break up the Gaunce line which has been playing well... but they need to keep Boeser and Goldy going.
  12. With Bo out, Granlund now has his chance to get back to a more offensive game. He showed last year he can put the puck in the net, and he has a good forecheck and good wheels. I think there is a good chance he will end up between Boeser and Goldy. Makes sense now to leave Baertschi with Vanek and Gags... better balance on the lines. Burmistrov will need to slot in with Jake and Gaunce till Sutter comes back. Good luck Granny!
  13. Makes zero sense to start trading assets for a temporary fill in for Bo. #1 the talent available as trade bait won't come up to his level #2 the cost in assets would be a net negative for the team's future Better to bring up players from Utica and move existing players around. Granlund can fill in at center and someone from Utica or Burmistrov can take Granlund's place.
  14. I disagree with those posters who are dumping on Hutton. Although he had some stumbIes early, I think his development this year is on track. Right now I think he is the 2nd best defenseman on the team after Tanev. His first pass after recovering the puck in the D-zone is usually right on the mark. He is rushing with more confidence, but not doing it at the wrong time. I like his decision making, and I believe he is well on his way to becoming a solid 3/4.
  15. Everytime I hear this kid interviewed I like what I hear. His whole presentation, his attitude, his physical demeanor says determination. He doesn't pat himself on the back, he doesn't assume he'll make the team. The fact he mentioned skating is a key he understands exactly what he needs to do to make it past the Juniors. I noticed he seems to have lost weight and seems leaner while looking a little bigger... a good sign he understands the realities of the NHL game. I'm gonna predict he will eventually be a skater for the Canucks. https://thecanuckway.com/2017/08/07/vancouver-canucks-prospects-ranking-top-20-10-jonah-gadjovich/
  16. I like this kid. He shows good hockey smarts... positions himself well, doesn't seem to fall behind the play despite being slightly on the slow side. Makes nice passes in the O-Zone, and also seems to be able to get into position to take a pass. Likes to hit, makes his line changes snappy. Weakness... critical first couple steps on his breakout or onto loose pucks are slow... same problem as Horvat had in Junior... if he can build up some explosive strength in his legs he'll be fine.
  17. What's the difference between the Edmonton Oilers, Toronto Maple Leafs and Vancouver Canucks? Edmonton Oilers: Poor management and a sh*tload of PURE DUMB LUCK. Toronto Maple Leafs: Good management and HORSESHOES UP THEIR BACKSIDE. Vancouver Canucks: Mostly good management and NOT A CHANCE IN HELL OF EVER SEEING LUCK SMILING THEIR WAY.
  18. What better players? Is Sbisa a better player? I like Stecher, but is he an overall better player and more impactful than Tryamkin?
  19. Great video of Virtanen. The difference in his game after he lost all the excess weight is amazing... he is so much more dangerous. Obviously this is the AHL, but it is clear he has great potential with both his speed and shot. I think the chances of him making the Canucks... assuming he works hard over the summer, is very good.
  20. I really hope North Dakota is not mishandling this kid and his injury. Canucks should send someone down there and have a talk with Boeser and his parents. If his development is better suited to him taking time off and recovering properly, then that should happen. No point in having a small injury turn into something which will be a permanent handicap.
  21. Burr is and will always be a pro. He will give everything he's got for the team whose jersey he wears. He will come into Vancouver one of these days, and after he acknowledges the standing ovation, he will play as hard as he can against the Canucks. Who knows how long he can keep it up... I wish the best for him... he earned everything he's ever gotten in this league.
  22. All those people who like to smear Burr's reputation are ignoring one thing. It was just words... unlike quite a lot of other players... Keith for example, Burr never deliberately tried to injure anyone. In my opinion far too much criticism is placed on players who chirp instead of players who go out of their way to injure others. For some reason, those who deliberately go for the knees, who aim for the late blindside hits, who target the head are regarded as 'men', whereas those who play clean but who excel in the verbal sparring and love to get into their opponent's heads are regarded as low lifes. The opposite should be true. Name the players Burr injured and forced to lose games.... you won't find any. You will find a lot of players who tried to injure Burr and end his career... nobody talks about them. If you can't deal with a few words you shouldn't be playing the game.
  23. Burr's a hero to me... never quit, never complained, worked his tail off till the end. Bled Blue and Green... Don't worry Deb... he'll be back... and you'll have a chance to watch as he stands at center ice and gets inducted into the Ring of Honour.
  24. Burrows did his best to jump start the Sedins, but their total lack of defense sabotaged his attempt. One after another give away or bad pass by the Sedins... two goals allowed while their line was on. Yeah, they scored once... but the rest of the time not so good. I watched Burrows retrieve the puck, get it out of danger several times, then pass it to a Sedin who gives it away within seconds. WD's reaction... shorten the bench... play the Sedins more! WD plays Labate more than any of the rest of the newbies... he takes a stupid cheapshot penalty... then loses a fight... which inspires San Jose to take over the game... WD plays him more!! Grenier showed more offensive flair in his few moments than Labate, but he's the one who is benched. Grenier has twice the touch on the puck than Megna, Gaunce, or Labate. As long as this team is being run by WD there is no chance of making the playoffs.... but maybe that's the plan?
  25. Burr basically won the game for the Canucks by getting into an immature goaltender and immature team's head early... and he never let up. By the time he scored, the Sabres were all thinking hateful thoughts about him instead thinking how the were going to win the game. After he scored, they were all thinking about how glad they'd be when the game ended. This guy will never quit, he is ready to take any kind of punishment for the team... He is ready to take a crosscheck from a 240 lb guy, ready to take a punch in the face from a goalie, ready basically to do anything it takes. He's gotta be in the Ring of Honor the day he retires.
