Vancouver didn't re-sign TT who ends up being Montreal's best player lol. That's embarrassing and really hard to defend on JB's part.

Florida is going to allow up to 5000 fans per Panthers game. Florida has one of the worst COVID infection rates in the US. On the bright side, this will be the first time in history Florida will lead the league in attendance. And COVID cases.

who will be centers for utica next season? if there is a season.

There are only two NHL players with 60+ points & 100+ hits this season (take a guess, it’s incredible):
1- J.T. Miller - 63 pts, 105 hits
2 - Alexander Ovechkin - 60 pts, 167 hits-
@Baer. Just go back to the original trade thread to see what I'm talking about. It was certainly more than one person. I said many had suggested he could be an insurance 3rd line center, but many of us knew he was solid on faceoffs and had taken his fair share. He was listed to be able to play all forward positions which was another positive at the time of the deal.
Many of us supported the trade from the start and knew what player we would get. His point totals has surpassed all of our expectations, but the rest of his game was expected. The people that didn't support the trade had no clue who JT Miller was. We didn't have to be lucky to know we were getting a good player. We are simply lucky to get a great player.
He wasn't getting top 6 minutes in his final year in Tampa, which is what led to the notion that he was some declining bottom 6 cap dump. If you don't believe me, then like I said go look at the original trade thread.

@Baer. Many of us thought Miller would easily get back to 60-65 points knowing that he would be a top 6 player here rather than some bottom 6 scrub that people were projecting him to be from TB. He was at prime age and signed to reasonable term. We knew about his faceoff ability and some saw him as insurance for a centerman either as a 3C potentially if injuries happened and to assist with EP knowing that isn't EP's strong suit yet. Many of us knew he would be chippy and while a majority poll earlier wanted Ferland with EP, a lot of us had Miller riding shotgun with EP calling for Miller's skill set to be more favourable. Many of us were comfortable with the trade knowing all this and knew he wasn't just some regular "cap dump".
The fact that he's become the player that he has in his time here is just additional gravy. He simply has even surpassed the expectations of those that actually supported the trade in the first place and has made a fool of those who didn't.

Thanks to San Jose, it is possible that Ottawa has 2 top 5 picks. In fact, there's an outside chance Ottawa could feasibly draft twice in the top 3.

I agree. I just think Dorian isn't going to get the same acknowledgement as Sakic did because Ottawa is supposedly "doing everything wrong". They blame the owner, but the owner has specifically laid out his plan. This included blowing up the team for picks and prospects, which is something many here had called for. And also to take on bad contracts for picks/prospects aka weaponizing their cap space, again something that many were calling for. Melnyk has suggested they would be competitive in like 2022 or something and will be willing to spend to the cap again. If they are bolstered by a couple top end prospects, then there is no reason to now believe it. Dorian has simply followed instructions and things are seemingly falling into place, but we will see how it plays out. If it does work, then Dorian deserves some credit.

Listening to the talking heads today, Dhaliwal was saying that he still thinks Virtanen has upside, which I would agree. I was trying to figure out who a good comparable would be for him, and in modern Hockey I'm thinking it would be Chris Kreider, but maybe even better. I can see him hitting 45-55 a year once he figures out consistently.

@Type R Grabner is one of the most prolific empty net goal scorers

According to the 4th period - The Devils are trying to convince Taylor Hall to sign a long term extension. Multiple well placed sources have said that the 27 year old is not interested in signing an extension with the team.
Sounds like Hall is on his way out one way or another.
-
Excellent player, but the way he plays leads to a major health risk for himself. NJ will trade him before letting him hit UFA and it's going to be a high price (Chiarelli isn't trading him this time). Much rather have Panarin.
Hall might be worth it if we are after that elusive 1st overall pick though (if we don't trade it away by acquiring him).

Gf was leaving after she came home for lunch.i went to the washroom and saw a bear walk down my driveway and climb my walnut tree.

did anyone hear JB on 650 this morning? supposedly he mapped out their plans for the remainder of this season and next season.

@NUCKER67 How dare you suggest signing a player over 30? Benning would surely be crucified if he signed him!
Kidding aside though.

Sounds like an older Gudbranson. I'm not opposed to the idea since he should be cheap and would be a free acquisition, but I don't think our defense is much improved with that lineup (barring unreal play from Hughes).

Oliver Wahlstrom 5 points in 14 games @ Boston College ... ouch

“They were hitting, holding, cutting, grabbing, clutching, hitting,” Nurse fumed. “It’s been going on all year. I do not understand why they are letting everyone play one of the best players in the league so physically. I do not understand it.”
Oh Darnell how dare people actually hit McDavid lol
-
Edit: Wrong quote apparently, but the rest still stands
Of course Hitchcock isn't going to comment on the penalties because the majority were unforced errors and they had to be called (pucks over the glass, although one was a terrible call, and don't forget the too many men call that wasn't even close as all 6 players were well in the play).
Teams have found a way to shut down McDavid somewhat (and he's still producing), so it's up to the rest of your team to step up when all the focus is on McDavid. And it's up to McDavid to demonstrate why he's the best player in the game by producing even with the tight defensive systems against him (which I believe he still is). That's how you showcase you're one of the best rather than just giving him open lanes for him to skate into.
Are they going to complain after every loss (even though their record has been decent with Hitchcock) that the opponents defended them too well and it isn't fair?

i have a feeling, that when sutter and baertschi return, goldobin will be traded. he reminds me a lot of mason raymond. skates fast, has good hands but never seems to get into scoring positions. he mishandled the puck 3 times on the PP last night. all 3 killed the PP.

No wonder accidents and insurance is through the roof in this province. People on highway 11 weaving and bobbing out of traffic, cutting people off going 120k in the dark and rain.
-
@StealthNuck Oh I'm not talking about actual merge lanes. I'm talking about roads like getting onto the Queensborough or Patullo bridges for example where I'm certain 95% of people know which lane is the one that leads to the bridge, but wants to take advantage and head all the way to the end and cut in at the very end so they get ahead of the line. While it is not illegal, it's just people are very aggressive in doing so and in turn it forces the people who are actually patiently waiting their turn to suffer even more.
As for merge lanes themselves, I agree with going to the end and doing the zipper when there is enough traffic, but I also think that if there is an opportunity to make the merge when traffic is flowing, it isn't necessary to go all the way to the end, especially if someone is giving you the space to make the change earlier.

Who would you rather the Canucks sign if they go after a big ticket free agent... Erik Karlsson or Sergei Bobrovsky? Mind you, you're only signing one of them. Seems like the media is hyping we'll go hard for one or the other. Karlsson for me would be better than Bobrovsky due to organizational need + my feeling Demko will still develop into something special. But Bobrovsky would solve our goalie woes for years much like Luongo did.
-
While I don't believe in spending big money on goaltending, I think we need a significant uptick in goaltending if we expect to be considered seriously. Demko is coming off a concussion and DiPietro might be years away. I would like Karlsson, but we do have Hughes coming in who should provide at least the offense side of what Karlsson brings at some point in his career hopefully. If we are bringing in Juolevi soon and other young dmen, it would be nice to have a good safety net behind them to hopefully cover up their rookie mistakes. Perhaps Bobrovsky also leads to Tryamkin making a return as well as an added bonus.

People drive like that even on regular city streets and all it accomplishes is they get to the red light before I do and I end up right next to them until they try to speed off again. They might get to a destination 5-10 minutes faster, but really is it worth it?
Another thing that bugs me are people driving right down to the front of a line and try to merge in. They are well aware why there is a line there and take advantage of the nice people that simply let them in (sometimes just force their way in). This only causes the people that do wait patiently to only be delayed further. And if you get upset at them for cutting you off or whatever, they give you the finger.
So on one hand, I think it's ridiculous how much insurance costs, but on the other hand, there are so many idiots out there that I can see why it's so expensive.
