  1. They like finnish prospects so much that they passed on Puljujarvi and drafted Dubois instead. With that said, that can be explored in the offseason. Not sure how that move helps with CBJ's attempt for the playoffs now with them being right in the wild card race.
  2. Amidst all the trade flurry, maybe some need to be reminded of a move we have made in preparation for this season and that has worked out so well for us thus far.
  3. CBJ seemed to have been looking to add. Why would they sell? Anderson likely will have a high price tag. He would be an offseason acquisition if he were available at all.
  4. If we cannot extend Tanev and Stecher, then I'd consider them as rentals as well. Plus we may add Tryamkin. None cost any assets.
  5. Let us not forget the reaction when we acquired JT Miller as a "cap dump" for 5.25 million a season for only 4 seasons with a much better history statistically and plenty more to offer than Pageau. We paid basically the same price for Miller that NYI did. Miller is younger too. Funny the reactions to when we make a deal compared to when others do. If Pageau regresses back to his "normal" standard (non-contract year), this deal is a mega dud for NYI IMO.
  6. Performing decently on a contract year despite a history of average/low numbers. Need to see what the AAV is, but 6 year term could be rough.
  7. But that means we would take on more cap with more term. Just like LE isn't worth his 6 million, neither is Parise at 7.5 and for 3 more additional years. Nevermind the fact that we have Boeser in the wings already and have added Toffoli. We have no need for Parise, but could at least utilize LE's defensive game to support our youthful offensive guns for the time being. And to add even more on our end? No thanks.
  8. He has 11 PP goals this season. Parise looks like he still has a pair of legs and can move on the ice with blades attached to his feet, so I think he can still skate.
  9. Now seeing the full return on this trade, I can see why Florida would do it. They've been needing help defensively and they are bolstering their bottom 6 by adding Wallmark. Haula is a minor downgrade to Trocheck. Priskie may be an upgrade on Weegar at least offensively and with Ekblad and Stralman on the right side, they could use a but more offense there. Eetu is just an additional prospect center they can work with. So they added 3 centers and an RD. Trocheck really only had one solid year of 75 points. Otherwise he's been a 50-55 point guy who now has a risk of an injury history. Carolina does need a bit of a boost on the offense with a top 6 forward though.
  10. Assuming the comparable is that LE is Ladd in this trade scenario, NYI took on more cap and more term. Albeit a better player, but they are taking on a big risk as well. Are we willing to do so? I should add the trade isn't final yet, and there appears to be more going from NYI to Minni, so we will see how this plays out.
  11. All this talk about Colorado looking to bolster their goaltending and they end up with Hutchinson.
  12. I guess Boston got so embarrassed that they've decided to add some truculence.
  13. This is just the Canadiens trying to go for some record for most draft picks because the draft is in Montreal. Perhaps they try to sell all their picks and Domi, etc for the 1st overall pick.
  14. I think Barrie is only rumoured as a continuation of the draft day events. A rumour to discuss about amongst the two biggest fanbases. Despite Toronto and Barrie struggling, they need him more than we need him. Doesn't make sense for them to trade him at this point as they need to make a playoff push. I don't think we were ever in the market for Bogo. If the plan is to have Tryamkin return, then we would have no need for Bogosian. If we trade Stecher, we are making room for him and giving some time for Rafferty otherwise we might as well keep Stecher who's helped us get to where we are today and he's a local guy that will give it all for us instead of bringing in a guy that couldn't crack Buffalo's roster.
  15. I picked Marky. However, I'm glad that Motte is considered as one of the options. I think he might just be my unsung hero for the team.
  16. Looks like Toffoli's wife is starting to tweet more positively towards Vancouver. Even said "solid first week". Good sign. She didn't have to worry about making any "standard statements".
  17. If this happens, I hope we make a push for Risto to continue that trend of former Sabres winning Cups.
