  1. He's pretty much a bottom pairing guy on a good team. I'd gladly take a 3rd rounder for Stecher. Although with our new found cap space, we could add Tryamkin and keep Stecher for more depth for the playoff drive.
  2. Tough year for Brock. Even if he gets to spend more time with his dad, surely his dad would've preferred to see his son ripping up the league and hopefully winning a Cup before his time is up.
  3. See Benning, look at the epitome of how a rebuilding team should be running things.
  4. Maybe we draft a Madden caliber player in the 3rd round. We did accomplish that before. Making the pick you have count is just as important as where they are drafted. There's still time to add picks before the upcoming draft. The focus now is making the playoffs to give the young group some experience and hopefully a positive one to develop them further and be able to assess the team on future decisions.
  5. Brackett: There's a player in the late 2nd that may possibly be available that I want to draft. Don't you dare trade that 2nd round pick Benning!
  6. I'd argue that Focht was very well in the running for that title. Also I believe the potential 4th given up will be for the 2022 draft. Lots of time to possible recoup some picks before the upcoming draft if possible/needed.
  7. Something else that I don't see mentioned much so far is that Toffoli can PK as well. On LA's 2nd unit. Good to have another defensively responsible player that can score and he would add a dangerous element in being an offensive threat on the PK which Schaller and LE weren't.
  8. On paper yes, but I could see many variations of the roster that could change things up if needed and still be effective.
  9. Maybe so, we heard this all last off season too though. Hopefully he refuses to report and we can proceed to contract termination (see Bogosian). Or he can leave on his terms and retire.
  10. Nice to have options. The assumption is based on previous chemistry, but could easily see things play out in many different ways. Especially as players return from injuries.
  11. Don't see many more bottom feeder cap teams left. The market is thin which only drives the price up even further. LE could easily put all 15 lowly teams on his no trade list.
  12. Easy to mitigate. Conditional 3rd round pick that if he doesn't re-sign with his new team that it becomes "future considerations" or like a 6th round pick.
  13. Considering how much it cost to dump 1 year of Marleau, I highly doubt Madden and a 2nd would get rid of 2 more years of LE.
  14. The thing is we are acquiring insurance on defense, not necessarily a surefire top 4 defender. Tryamkin isn't going to walk into a top 4 role, but possibly a bottom 6 role (replacing Stecher) and he had no problem in that spot in his time here. He is playing top pairing minutes in KHL, so doesn't seem unreasonable for him to step up his minutes should we suffer any injuries. He's playing in his own playoff push/drive, so he would be coming in with that mentality as well.
  15. It could also happen that Toffoli takes us to the promised land before he walks back to LA, in which case would be a major win for us. Anything could happen.
