TDL hasn't passed yet. But where would we fit in Edler/Tanev "potential replacements" in our lineup? We have Fantenberg as a depth option. Then we have the youth movement of Brisebois, Rafferty and Juolevi if need be. Hopefully an addition of Tryamkin bolsters the defense again and would be a "free" acquisition. Only potential dman I see us going after is maybe Dillon, but what do we do with Benn/Fantenberg?

A few things to take from this deal. Seems like a vote of confidence somewhat for Gaudette. Madden isn't likely to beat out Horvat or EP anytime soon, so 3C was his best chance. Focht's season so far likely has us feeling confident with him as an insurance center prospect. Will be curious if we try to get Karlsson and/or Costmar to come over next season. Toffoli is another top 6 player (remember when we got one of those in Miller? And look at how Pearson has turned out so far) that is on pace for one of his better seasons in his career on a terrible LA team. This likely spells the end of a LE experiment in the top 6. Will be interesting to see where Boeser fits when he returns back from injury, but could also be some bad news on when his return may be. Losing Schaller was likely done for cap reasons, but also could mean Motte is close to returning and fills a PK void. MacEwen also likely has earned a longer look in the bottom 6 at least. I wonder if we can even afford to re-sign Toffoli for next season. Could mean that Ferland likely may not be returning ever again, but will be curious how else we will be handling the cap.

He's only sick. Not sure it warrants this kind of disappointment for this news.

[GDT] Ducks @ Nucks - Feb 16 2020 - 2pm Pacific - AFTERNOON GAME - SNET

You mean teams with solid goaltending tend to win games? Go figure. We are certainly not the only team that had their goaltending steal games. We have been outshot some games and won and we have outshot opponents and have lost. How quickly we forget that not long ago we were a rebuilding team with a young core (and still do) and yet now we expect a level of the premier teams in the league? Thank Gordie for Marky, but that's a testament to him and not a knock on the coaching that has seen this team continue to rise every year under his tenure thus far. -
[Rumour] Devils trade Blake Coleman to Avalanche

Maybe a piece that was part of the deal that maybe had a NTC or something rejected the trade. Kind of like what happened to Zucker. -

When you're the new guy trying to establish yourself, it's best to just make no mistakes even with zeroes across the board. This isn't Bailey's first rodeo, so rookie mistakes are not going to be well liked. Look at MacEwen when he has earned the trust of the coaches. He's making his time count. Aside from Bailey/Schaller, what are the other interesting choices? Starting Demko? Lineups often change within the game as Green sees fit. I'm pretty confident in the guy that has helped contribute to us being 1st in the Pacific. Also seemed to have the vote of confidence from the Sedins. -

Agree with what you're saying, just wanted to chime in on the bolded part in that it looks like Horvat and Beagle lines are splitting the shutdown duties as opposed to Horvat being the sole shutdown line. We don't have the depth that some teams do to have two powerhouse scoring lines yet, so we are countering with two shutdown lines while the Horvat line in general has more minutes as they are given more offensive looks as well where as the Beagle one is strictly for defensive duties. -

Don't take any games lightly. Keep the foot on the gas. If a player can't be trusted (yet), they need to watch the game and understand. This isn't Bailey first crack at the NHL level, so those mistakes should be out of his system especially when trying to establish yourself with the opportunity given. We are still in the playoff push, so we want to ice the best lineup possible. I think Bailey would be better suited in a sheltered 3rd line role, but he needs to earn it. MacEwen has earned the trust and is getting the minutes. If you can't play your given minutes to the point where the coach can trust you in any role then you've become ineffective. This doesn't mean the player is poor, just isn't ready and hopefully get through the learning curve. -

Yes and because kids are involved, also to watch the game, they likely didn't want a 7pm start time. Gives the families time to go out for a dinner after the game. Also beneficial for the out of towners to do a day trip for the game and out. -

A good team guy that doesn't complain when he's out of the lineup and has been our top PK guy when he's in. Bailey was rather ineffective last game on the 4th line. Schaller may be quiet there, but he's filling those 4th line minutes without many mistakes which allows that line to be trusted a bit more to ease the minutes amongst the rest of the group. So speak for yourself, not for the entire fanbase. -

I suspect with it being Family Day weekend that an earlier start time should supposedly allow for younger kids/families to attend the game without it being too late for them. -
[Report] Isles looking for Defensive Forward
theo5789 replied to Provost's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Ho-Sang obviously. His game and attitude is made to be a premier shutdown center. -
Bogosian? The guy that have 7 PP points in the last 5 years and 6 of those were 5 years ago?

You're starting another argument that isn't related to the current topic. We've been over this already.

He's talking about the ripple effect of adding Myers and how it has helped keep Tanev healthy this season (knock on wood). Hughes plays a part in it as well, but we have another top 4 dman that can eat up some of the minutes that Tanev may have had to take.

I see it as both in that thinking now (playoffs) is a developmental process in looking ahead (assessing what we have and future moves to make). Someone like Sutter is valuable in that he's a center, part of the leadership group and plays some of the hard minutes. He helps with the development of the team. With that said, I'd explore moving him in the off season mainly from a cap perspective and possibly have gained his value through hopefully a decent playoff run. Moving someone like Stecher is feasible considering his minutes and projection that Tryamkin would be returning. It won't be much of a return, but a bit of cap relief and the likelihood of him not returning next season is justifiable enough. Schaller might be another trade/waiver option. I can see Roussel being a trade option, but likely in the offseason and depending on how he shows in the playoffs. I think Leivo would've been the odd man out, but his injury might keep him here for this season and he walks as UFA. I am opposed to moving out Tanev and if he walks as a UFA, then so be it. He, like Sutter, is valuable towards a playoff drive and development of our young guys, especially so considering his partner is often Hughes. Tanev will be our playoff "rental" in this case and I am fine with that. With Benning's draft record and our prospect depth, I'm not concerned about this year's 1st. Every year will have their gems and if things go the way they do, we should hopefully have bottom half of each round of the draft for next little while anyway. Might as well try and push that 1st that we are giving up as low as possible. Any proactive moves towards the ED will be done in the offseason and really the only concern is goaltending and we need to see where this Markstrom contract leads to before making any real decision towards that. I don't see any real need to add this season as we have too much depth on wing as it is and we could get a free acquisition in Tryamkin on defense. If we make a move, I'd like to see a decent minor league center added should injuries arise, but even then Graovac may return by then to be that guy. The only goal should be to see if we can shed some cap on the peripheral players.
