  1. Nevermind the fact that Podz is in the KHL.
  2. I'm not a fan of this logic. There are plenty of AHL "stars" that don't pan out at the NHL level. Also, defensive players don't get the credit they deserve as stars even up to the NHL level. Someone like Tanev wouldn't be considered a "star", but he's easily in my top 4 dmen group. By all accounts, Tryamkin has improved and focused his game more towards being a defensive dman. So while he's not an offensive "star", there's no reason to think he couldn't be a top 4 dman at the NHL level given that he's playing top pairing minutes now on his team which includes top PK time. He may start here as a bottom pairing guy to adapt back into the system and the league, but we will see how long he stays there.
  3. I think Zaitsev is very underrated. He's currently playing 21+ minutes and is the top PKer on his team. He's probably not a top pairing guy, but certainly a top 4 defender defensively IMO. I think he would look better with more support. I also think it's questionable to suggest that Tryamkin isn't motivated. He's been by some accounts their best player and been playing top pair minutes. If this is unmotivated supposedly, how much better can he be if he is motivated? Now I do agree that Chara comparisons are overboard, but I also think suggesting him as only a 6/7 is undervaluing him. Like most things, it usually lands somewhere in the middle where he is probably a decent top 4 dman playing 18-20 minutes a night while taking on either top PK duties or a good shared chunk of it (conveniently similar to Tanev's role). He may start as a "bottom pairing guy" while he gets his footing here, but I suspect he will move up quickly from that role.
  4. Some posters have been itching for a long time to dump on the team when we were on that hot run. They're just letting all that pent up rage out as soon as they can.
  5. Without getting reamed on over an add-on item, what is the point of this comment?
  6. I'm only suggesting that he's a complimentary player because it appears his offensive production was higher when he had better teammates (Marody and Hughes) and as demonstrated, there's a drop off in the lineup and his numbers drop too. He's more of the driver of the offense now, but more likely out of necessity. I'm not saying he plays exactly like Motte, but rather simply he's more complimentary than the driver. With that said, this isn't a knock at all (FTR, I'm very high on Motte). Motte is a motor on his line and Lockwood could be similar in that sense with his speed and tenacity. I'm one of the ones that thinks he should be signed while others have written him off already.
  7. Well aware of all of this. I was just making a tongue in cheek comment off yours in fun.
  8. The players are trying to keep their emotions in check and remained focused on the bigger picture. The fans do not need to do this and utilize the microscope.
  9. And yet when Vancouver makes a move, the local media scrutinizes it for a week digging up all the "advanced stats" that go against whatever additions we make.
  10. More goal support, but likely defensively not far off. But like Keefe said, they just needed a save in the 3rd and Campbell can provide that.
  11. Jack Campbell is 28, Clifford is only a year older. The young/veteran window transitions from 28 to 29 years old? To be fair, I had to double check Campbell's age. I thought he was much younger too, like around 23. I guess he has that legacy similar to 18 year old Sam Bennett.
  12. https://theprovince.com/sports/hockey/canucks-sign-freak-russian-defenceman-nikita-tryamkin I guess this thread can come back full circle. If Tryamkin comes back this year, he may be the missing "freak of nature" we need to put us over the top. Edit: I just realized that the article may be misleading. That was when we signed him in 2016 before anyone gets their hopes up just yet.
  13. So you're saying people only see what they want to see and form a conclusion? That never happens on CDC. Get real man.
  14. I don't actually know lol I was being sarcastic.
  15. It's a fancy stat for dump and chase. If they did this for the NHL, the Canucks are surely are all at the top considering it's the only coaching strategy that Green can deploy.
  16. I think that's a given. I'm just not sold on moving a center for another winger at this point and we would have to significantly add on top of Gaudette if we are expecting Rakell. It might be more likely that we make a hockey trade for someone in a similar situation, but a different position to fill any gaps in our lineups.
