  1. When Bo missed that EN chance, came back and blocked a shot then powered through for the final dagger, I instantly thought and said, that's captain material right there. It was a "not in my house" moment.
  2. Who would've thought inserting Loui was the magic elixir as we are 6-0 with him back in the lineup. Something no one seemed to wish for.
  3. But but Green only knows the dump and chase. Clearly the players have stopped listening to Green and are doing their own thing for the success lately. I'm sure Bo probably decided to call that timeout and Gaudette jumped on the ice on his own despite Green telling him to get off the ice. Babcock FOREvERzzzz!!!?!!?
  4. I guess if team tank is dying for a team to root for, then they can jump over to Avto because the Canucks aren't going to appease them this year.
  5. Points aren't the only indicator if a player is ready for the big league (see Boucher). Especially as our team isn't completely dry for offense right now. We need to tighten up on defense and that's still part of the game he is working on according to Ryan Johnson. He will get his chance when an opportunity arises. Right now it's good to have Utica as a competitive team to help develop our players there as well with some playoff experience too.
  6. Has any of the draft eligibles in this world Junior tourney impressed anyone outside of the usual 1st round potential prospects? I liked what I saw from Musarov from Kazhakstan as a potential late round gamble (see Manyukan, Palmu, etc). Kubicek is decent sized RD that could be a decent late 2nd round pick (assuming we make the playoffs and maybe win a round?) or hopefully he can be landed with a 3rd round pick. Zabransky is an overager (not sure if he is a UFA after this season), but I liked what he had shown in this tournament for the Czech team.
  7. Poor Evan, Sabres made two trades and he wasn't part of either after his trade request. Although it might be setting up for one as Frolik likely replaces what he does.
  8. A lot of praise for the teams around us, but none for the Canucks. Surprise surprise. Every team should tank since it's such a deep draft right? There will be other future strong draft years that we can worry about tanking for in the future. The Canucks are on the upswing and want to see what our players now can do in the playoffs. Miller is a now player, but he's also got some solid prime years on an amazing contract left, so we might as well take advantage of it. We have not sold the farm to get to where we are. Our farm is flourishing more now than ever before. And we certainly haven't been 100% healthy to date, so no idea why you would suggest that. Cap space is an issue, but Benning certainly has a plan in place as he forecasted that we wouldn't have as much cap space as people though despite having like 15+ million of space or so when he mentioned that. They are very cognizant of the cap and will make it work. Being up against the cap now also would restrict us from making said selling the farm type moves, so don't worry about us doing so.
  9. And to think there's potential to swap out Stecher (or Tanev) with Tryamkin. And possibly a 6'2 Rafferty waiting in the wings.
  10. Just wait until the next loss. Enjoy that silence for the time being.
  11. If the previous games have been any indicator, the shutdown duties are split between the Horvat and Beagle lines for one line teams.
  12. I know the Sens PP is atrocious, but do they really think a CFL quarterback is the answer?
  13. How many 5+ goals games have we had this year? Something tells me Green isn't a sit on a one goal lead type of coach. Add in more counter attack only boosts our offense further. I guess to the real question is how is Madden on the dump and chase?
  14. Well now we know what the expectations will be when he enters the NHL. Good luck OJ.
  15. I think they smartened up after the Rory year and allowed Scott to get in because for a fan event, why alienate the fans? They followed it up by removing any possibility for this to occur again, go figure. That Rory year had to be rigged because I believed they showed vote numbers then as well and he was like a solid 50000 votes or something higher than the next player with a surging number of voters on that bandwagon, but on the last night of voting, the eventual "winner" surged with like 100000 votes overnight.
  16. They have a declining team that has won 3 Stanley Cups, so a much higher standard than our declining team at that time (see Kane who is still lighting it up). They didn't have atrocious drafting prior (almost 0 prospect pool to work with when Benning took over) to their downfall, this could still have an influx of youth and players that could keep that youth down to develop longer. It is arguable when the Benning rebuild actually begun. The Canucks hung in there for a couple of years before dropping off. Chicago could easily go through that phase as well. Chicago is in the area where they want to remain competitive with the core they still have. If they use up that newly found cap space with prospect/picks, then they could very well drop off a cliff once the core is gone. The Canucks made the playoffs with the Sedins during Benning's 2nd year here, but that is no sign of a good rebuild at that point. It was a re-tool which is probably what Chicago is doing rather than rebuilding because the major core is still there and are the primary producers on that team.
  17. As far as conspiracy theories goes, there's probably no need to see the tallies as it likely be rigged by the end of it to get in who the league prefers anyway. Never forget Rory Fitzpatrick.
  18. I think the noise created by Torts has simply created more attention over this specific issue and therefore largely greater issues that are too often kept quiet about. I don't think this should be a regular occurrence, but attention should be drawn at some point otherwise things will continue to be swept under the rug. As a poster mentioned earlier, if they're not allowed to talk about the game other than generic responses, then why bother even having a post game presser (and people complain about coaches thinking the team doesn't need to improve, etc)? The league should have just apologized for not correctly calling the game and hope to do better moving forward and thus owning up to their mistake and act like they will do something about it. And then go behind the scenes and talk to Torts about not doing this so publicly and send a memo to the league that they don't condone the way Torts went about things (they can still fine him under the policy of the league). Everything just seems bass ackwards in how they handled the situation. Instead, they are telling Torts to shut up and have set his next fine should he do this again until it's hopefully long enough to blow over. If Burrows didn't snap about Auger, would anything had happened to resolve the issue? You don't think Burrows and the team has said something privately to the league first and simply has seen nothing happen? It's like trade demands, it goes through internally first and if they feel like nothing is happening, then they come out publicly. These are all things that could be argued about how it could be handled, but at the end of the day, sometimes people have had enough.
  19. Sounds ridiculous, but it's very real world unfortunately (personal experience).
  20. I guess the question is how often has this crap been going on and perhaps this was the straw the broke the camel's back? It may be wrong still, but sometimes keeping the status quo and sweeping everything under the rug while having the same crap happen over and over doesn't accomplish anything. The league needs to own up to their mistake, apologize and actually be doing something about correcting it (this was asked of Don Cherry and he refused and got canned). As wrong as Torts may be for doing what he did, the league is just as wrong (or worse) for their actions. They are trying to force his mouth shut preemptively for a future infraction which seems to indicate the league will continue business as usual because they are showing no faith in being able to fix themselves, but rather stop the attention being brought upon it.
