  1. I think that's why the league wants it the way it is. The less people that are aware of the incompetence and stubbornness of the league means the league is all peachy in most eyes.
  2. If you are indeed high, there's more competent talk here than some who I believe are sober here. Not Alf of course.
  3. I was on the fence about him going or not. With the bonus negligible in this case, if he wants to go, then I think he should be voted in. Would be a good experience for him and Petey to go together and hopefully create a better team bond and maybe they will want to sign cheaper to build a team together amongst the rest of the young core. In terms of rest, it's not like he will be playing a ton, but the only issue is more travel. It looks like we play our last game before the All Star game on Jan 18, then again on Jan 27 (with the all Star festivities I believe on Jan 23-25), so he will get a decent break regardless.
  4. This is probably the most positive thing I've ever seen you write about a non-Canuck prospect.
  5. While this may be true, 101.9 is just fine with me as long as he's got some accuracy to his shot. Boy do I miss the Salo days.
  6. Just let him wear his Avto one, looks like a normal fit.
  7. And what do you expect to get back in return? Would you give up any "upgrade" player for any of these guys currently?
  8. This actually makes sense, but we still probably have to add a bit more to move the extra year on Baertschi.
  9. The Canucks drafted him and thus must've seen something they like. If injuries would scare them off, they wouldn't be so patient with OJ either then. The Canucks have invested a pick on him and by all accounts, it sounds like he wants to join us knowing that we drafted him. Lockwood still plays the game with speed and tenacity, which are attributes that we are building our team lately. If what he says is true, he shows good character, which is another aspect we look for. Worst case is we see if we can develop him further and if not, then we move on and he's hopefully finished his schooling to be ready for the next stage in his life as well.
  10. Plasek has been a regular on their top PP unit as far as I can tell. In his first game, he had a good board battle to free up the puck for a goal no assist, but he created the play. And now this nice feed. Much more noticeable 5v5 vs the US than previous games. I've grown an interest in the Czech team as a slight underdog and the home team. I wouldn't mind Kubicek as a late 2nd rounder or 3rd round pick. If Zabransky could be an overage UFA signing, then I would be interested.
  11. We would need to retain otherwise I don't see a deal that fits.
  12. Well if at the end of the day, the bonus will still be capped and he really wants to be there, then he should go. I think it'll still be beneficial for a team selfish reason for him to get some rest. Perhaps Petey wants a buddy there though. Would be cool to see Marky there though.
  13. Nice of the Tampa netminder to show up for the event. Tampa could use him on the point with that rocket.
  14. I'm on the boat where I rather not see Hughes. Meaningless game and Quinn has logged tonnes of minutes for a rookie D. He deserves the break and he will be crucial for us down the stretch. It benefits us for him to get a break and for cap reasons (although sucks for Quinn to not get his bonus). It's unfortunate someone like JT Miller is an unlikely candidate to be acknowledged for his play. I mean I'm glad for the same reasons as Quinn, but his play should be rewarded IMO. Markstrom might be our MVP, but Miller may be our Unsung Hero. Quinn likely gets the best dman award for us while EP easily takes most exciting player. Of course these are just my early candidates.
  15. Stat watchers will miss this. They will be surprised when he arrives. Although this is no different than any other prospect or even player (eg Miller) that they don't know about and decide to run down and be "happy to be wrong" or continue to find anything to bash the player to "not be wrong".
  16. Who are the other players on the list?
  17. Are people really suggesting this? Are they the same people that would've dumped Virtanen early on as well?
  18. I'd be shocked if we didn't offer him a contract. If anything this makes it less likely for him to be enticed by another team. His speed, drive and character are all aspects that this team will like and hope to develop. The dip in production looks to be team related and he's still amongst the top of his team. He may be a support player, but those are needed as well. Tyler Motte had incredible linemates in Connor and Compher plus Werenski on defense.
  19. Not bad for a overpriced, overpaid, 3rd/4th line cap dump.
  20. I understand this sort of fandom, but unfortunately this mindset is also why someone like Dahlen took the heat he did on social media when he got traded. And honestly that is a bad reflection on the entire fanbase even to those that are not part of this. I think there a signs of questionable character on Andersson's part, but I'm not writing him off just yet. We don't know what's going on there. Asking for Rag fans opinion on Andersson would likely net you the same type of reaction if someone asked us about Dahlen. Would I trade for him? If the price is right. There are many players with questionable character that still do well in the league (see Marchand) and some are even coveted like how some still think we should've taken Matthew Tkachuk despite all of his character issues.
  21. I don't disagree, but prior to the Miller trade, people were calling for us to run a rebuild in a similar fashion to the way Arizona did all while complaining about Arizona and Chayka's rebuild strategy. Not many thought highly of him specifically. Not saying the Hall trade is the right one, but I can see why they went for it and they didn't know Kuemper was going to go down soon after the deal. Even when the Miller trade was made, there was outrage here about why it was made (and certainly not seen as the "right" way of doing things), so hindsight has made this all clearer for many. Good to see that the Miller trade is now a benchmark though. We will see how this trade works out in the long run because their ultimate goal is to make the playoffs this year and hopefully can be taken more seriously. Still a half season left and when Kuemper returns, they could make a nice run if he and Hall catch fire.
  22. Acquiring Kuemper was actually brilliant for them considering it only cost Reider and Wedgewood. They had a good system going and were probably hoping Hall could be that guy to drive the offense when needed. Much like how he did for NJ that one season, or how Gaborik did for Minni in that trap era. If Hall doesn't succeed in accomplishing this, then that's going to be a big hit to his UFA status. Panarin has shown he could perform well pretty much anywhere, Hall hasn't. It was a gamble by Chayka to make a playoff push which their market desperately needs. Hopefully (for them) when Kuemper returns for them they'll go on a tear. Can't say many actually have thought Chayka to be smart here, but he has run his team in a way many here have called for the Canucks to do during our rebuild phase.
  23. It's no surprise when the team is winning that the lines don't get "blended". It's a easy tactic to try and wake the team up if things aren't working so you will generally see it when the team isn't going.
  24. Looks like the Hitmen will be on SN tonight at 6PM against the Oil Kings for those that want a look at Focht and Woo in action.
