  1. I wonder what haggling happened for that odd 21k away from a round 4 million.
  2. Cooper is the perfect head coach of a team that won't have to worry about the salary cap.
  3. Thanks for fun times everyone. This is my resignation.
  4. The fact that you survived the parking lot in the Richmond Costco to be able to present your membership card is already a massive win.
  5. https://lakingsinsider.com/2021/08/06/all-the-kings-men-thomas-drance-of-the-athletic-profiles-alex-edler/ Drance seems oddly positive towards Edler joining LA even suggesting that he's well worth 3.5 million and could even exceed that value. I bet his tune wouldn't be the same if we re-signed him.
  6. He drafted Mailloux also. He's the Marc Bergevin of GML. I suspect he's targetting Evander Kane heavily right now.
  7. Most players try to amp their games up during contract years. Covid year, sure, but not everyone that had a bad year can be excused for it. Montreal had a decent run, but he wasn't part of it. He's got decent skill if given the time in the top 6 and if offense is all you would expect of him. All I know is there is enough flaws to his game that it would be nitpicked to hell if he signed here. He might work out in NJ because they don't have the depth and have plenty of ice time for his skill. I think they "over-paid" given the market and the fact that he had to join a bottom team. The term is less risky though, so that's nice. He reminds me of someone like Radim Vrbata.
  8. Exactly why he signed a bridge contract. If he does break out, then he gets paid. Banking on himself and the team doesn't have to pay for what he may become.
  9. Tatar sees his offensive numbers dropped and is 30+. Has been a healthy scratch at times during the regular season to a regular healthy scratch come playoff time. Even when he plays in the playoffs, he's quite unproductive and doesn't provide much else if not generating offense in the top 6. If the Canucks make this signing, not a chance would the reaction that we are seeing in this thread would be the same.
  10. How do you think he got the GM gig in the first place?
  11. Philadelphia is taking calls for Victor Rask if anyone is interested in a middle 6 center.
  12. Baumer is still around. https://www.nhl.com/canucks/team/coaches-and-staff
  13. I guess players respect MacKinnon more because he doesn't just talk the talk, but he walks the walk too. Coaches are just easy targets for scrutiny.
  14. I guess the difference was we heard about the behind the scene stuff after they became legends, whereas we are hearing about MacKinnon before he has won it all yet (if at all). This is why there is scrutiny, but every player has had to start somewhere and overcome their obstacles for a championship. Zadorov emphasized that MacKinnon is focused on the team winning and is doing what he believes is best for the team to be successful.
  15. When you start seeing results, teammates won't complain. If they were losing a ton of games and he had this attitude, frustration would boil over. If it is as bad as some are portraying it, a former teammate wouldn't be praising him and would instead call him out for it if it was something he really didn't like. It's a fine line for sure, but I'll trust that his teammates would also call him out if he's being over the top. Zadorov seems to believe they have improved because of MacKinnon's direction to prepare, so I think they trust that MacKinnon knows what he's talking about.
  16. The diet thing is not uncommon. When the Sedins were here, I believe the players were encouraged to eat healthier as well. I remember a teammate saying they weren't allowed certain things in the locker room. Of course the Sedins were more class than crass as MacKinnon is portrayed here, but I imagine the diet thing happens around the league. As for not winning a championship yet, Jordan hadn't won a championship until he was around 27 years old. The Bulls also endured many playoff early exits. So it remains to be seen if MacKinnon will have the impact to take them to the next level, but Jordan is an example of this type of attitude prior to winning a championship which ultimately led to one (and many more after). I'm fine with these hyper athletes, but they will constantly have to show up every night and back up their attitudes by being the best player at both ends of the rink. Zadorov seems to be praising him, so I imagine he isn't exactly a locker room cancer and players seem to respect him for it.
  17. Welcome Pavel. We are glad to have our goaltending situation sorted out for next season. Now we will focus on rounding out our defense, but mainly filling up our forward spots where we still have 3 open top 6 forward options to fill via FA or trade possibly. We have some cap space to work with currently, but may fill up quickly.
  18. The GM works with his management group to assess players to target. We always hear about goalies that Clark approved. Green and Shaw have been noted to have some say in players they like and want to keep or sign. But I suppose if players pan out, then the credit will go to this "pro scouting" that assisted Benning and when it fails, it's a bad Benning signing.
  19. Sure, but the numbers guy for Seattle could've looked at it and said, this won't work. Whatever the case, these "professionals" on both sides missed out on it. Simple (maybe honest) mistake, and they will resolve it no problem, but just saying should it have happened here, the fan base would be calling out our management suggesting incompetence surely.
  20. Gotta wonder who dropped the ball there writing a contract not within the rules of the CBA? If that happened here, criticism would be through the roof.
  21. Good news is he's willing to engage. Once he bulks up, he will do some destroying.
