I’m just guessing, sorry I should have made that clear. Why else would the leading scorer of the SHL be left off the team? My guess is they watched world juniors and saw the skill but also saw he sometimes got beaten along the boards cause of strength issues. His PP play was amazing but his 5 on 5 was average.

Petterson played really well against the USA and was invisible against Canada. You win some, you lose some I guess...
Like everyone is saying he’s supremely skilled but is weak along the boards and needs to add strength.
Yeah for having the flu Pettersson is playing pretty well. Last game he wasn’t his best, but he should have had that penalty shot. He definitely has a nice shot and great vision. I can see a Swedish Giroux type player in the future.
I liked what I saw in the Canada game. Smooth and usually makes the intelligent play. Great passer and his shots decent. Looks like he will eventually be an elite #2 Dman to me.
I see Juolevi showing us why he was picked 6th overall this WJC. Salo said he’s improving in men’s league and he was already good before in WJC. Leading scorer for Dman in his draft year. I don’t really get why Juolevi was getting picked on a bit but I guess it’s cause of Tkatchuk? Sergachev does look really good though as well
If he keeps this pace in the SHL and dominates the WJC I think he will play for Vancouver next season. The guy definitely needs to gain strength though so you never know. Another year in SHL playing centre wouldn’t be the end of the world.
I wonder if hes he’s going to play centre or wing at WJC this year.
No one predicted he would be this good. Leading the league as a rookie is the best possible trajectory he could be having. If he gains strength, he could be a top 10 scorer someday.
I agree. It’s annoying when some guys say he’s too good for Utica next season. For one, we want him to develop into a centre. So to do that he will probably have to learn that in Utica. If he plays on the Canucks next season it won’t be as a centre.
Drafting potential star Petterson and this Russia series has shown that our 2017 draft was sublime, and Benning should get at least a 3 year extension. Lind and Gadjovich both showed really well in the games where I saw them.
