  1. Virtanen has way more speed than Ritchie with such as much physicatlity and a better shot. I'd take Virtanen over anyone unless Perlini is a lot better than we think After Ritchie at 6
  2. Because Ritchie can be a 35 goal scorer easily
  3. Problem with players like Ehlers and Kapanen and Nylander is they really need to dominate on a stupid scale before they're universally acknowledged to be the real deal. If they skip along with the other top 10 it's a really big roll of the dice to see if they make the NHL, it isn't as true with bigger players with similar skill sets Will one of them make the NHL and be a 30 goal scorer yes 80% yes and probably a 40% chance 2 of them do that. But Ritchie is like a 85% chance at being Lucuc/Nash/Getzlaf esque, I refuse to pass on that for a 40 goal scorer with no defensive upside
  4. Kapanen was being absolutely revered by Smashian and then he switched to Ehlers on an absolute dime. I put my faith in his opinion as he watches a lot of junior hockey. Another poster here specifically knows someone close to Virtanen and says he does have a bit of an attitude, as well team 1040 said his reception from Calgarians on twitter wasn't entirely positive. Havn't heard a word about Ritchie besides consistency issues, as well his older brother clearly gives him advice on how to be a pro. I take it with a grain of salt but when the decison was already close you look at all factors. Including rumours from the abotsford grape vine
  5. Last word's interiview with Ritchie is the final nail in the coffin for Virtanen or Kapanen, both are rumored to have attitude problems. Absolutely no way we pick Ehlers over Ritchie
  6. Ritchie's brother is a prospect for Dallas and has guided the kid to have three times the game than your typical goon pylon. You see this in his play and it isn't a coincidence he was projected at 6th overall. Nylander and Kapanen and Ehlers are all deece but it's too easy to pick Ritchie , especially because of the size All the discussion about size and speed is stupid you need players that have both. And as it's been said players like Ehlers don't neccarily play without grit because of their size, we have one of them with Shiknkaruk even though he isn't small Ritchie isn't a clone of Kassian he plays more physical, with much mroe of a goal scorers skill set good read http://lastwordonsports.com/2014/04/07/nhl-draft-profile-6-nick-ritchie/
  7. I want you, to look up sarcasm in the dictionary, then tear the page out, eat it, and post about it on the forums.
  8. Everyone talks with such certainty when the only guaranteed NHL'er in the top 5-10 is Ritchie, or Perlini/McCann/Tuch
  9. Just read from someone on HF that apparently Gillis got axed the second they started scouting EHlers, when Gilman went to Halifax A bad rumour but kind of funny to think about.
  10. I'll admit that one video you linked where Ehlers gets completely destroyed and gets right back up is kind of hilarious. I think we would never agree on taking Ehlers over Ritchie at 6th but if we got the 10th I would definitely take Ehlers over Virtanen and most likely Perlini, but only because I feel the risk is worth it with the Sedins fading out. I agree he's a better Ennis
  11. Ritchie isn't slow at all, probably the top 20% in the OHL, will probably be the top 15% in the NHL when he gains some fitness. Speed is the biggest weakness for big players, Ritchie has speed
  12. You're taking this forum a bit too seriously son. If You're calling Ehlers tough and gritty than Ritchie is going to have better skating than Stamkos once he sheds his baby fat. There is just no reason to call a 170lb player tough and gritty, yea people like Gallagher exist, he's literally 1 in a 1000
  13. Virtanen is the only one iam interested in besides Ritchie. Mainly because he's 9 months younger than every single player he's played against, 45 goals. And apparently has the desire to win unlike any other, his shot doesn't seem like that much of a snipe, more like he likes rifling the puck on the net a lot, and against Juniour goalies you're going to score a lot of goals that way. I see him at a solid #10 Ehlers, Perlini, and Kapanen should go 7-9 This is what's so confusing, with people attacking Ritchie, Ehlers or Kapanen makes perfect sense in Toronto or Carolina playing against teams like Nyi Buffalo and Florida that have absolutely no physicality to them. We need Ritchie and Virtanen to start a new era in the pacific inb4 People tell me Kane had 3 points tonight, hence justifying the fact Ehlers is Kane 2.0
  14. If Ritchie was slow or couldn't shoot, or couldn't deke, or couldn't make beautiful saucer passes on the rush I would take Kapanen. But at 170 llbs I do not care how sick his hands are in a pre NHL league, I do not care how strong his skating is, I don't care how easily he can top shelf a puck effortlessly. Ritchie is better. inb4 Ad Hominem
  15. I was blabbering about the Kassian trade the day it happened. Knowing this season would come in his development, knowing 2 seasons from now would come in his development. Ritchie is the same damn thing.
  16. Nope He'll pretty much be a straight across Lucic, and a 20% better Kassian and a 20% worse Nash He plays a lot like Nash
  17. Ehlers will be there at 10th for us with Ottawa's pick
  18. I envision our 3rd line being Ritchie Horvat and Kassian With Horvat and Kassian just dishing Ritchie for the open spot he finds with his big body. Those 2 just need to be as defensively reliable as Horvat and we'll have a stupid good 3rd line. Kassian's progress should be the barometer for the rebuild.
