  1. Geoff Waugh and Lawrence Nycholat have been injured, so the Moose needed 2 D-men to fill in for them - Taylor Ellington and Ryan McGinnis. Whether he deserves it or not, I'm not too sure, since I haven't seen him play at all this year. I can only go by stats, and that tells me nothing about how he's playing.
  2. It's gonna be awesome when the Moose visit Abbotsford! Hopefully the presence of the Canucks brass will spark the other members on the team to play better overall as well, especially Shirokov who hasn't been contributing as much offence of late. Maybe sometimes they do need a little reminder that if they play well then they could get called up as a reward. The AHL is a pretty tough grind, after all.
  3. Yeah, that was me . I read that on some page in this very same thread too I think. Or it could have been from HFBoards...
  4. yeah, I just wish the stream was working...
  5. Seems like you've been distributing quite a bit of mail lately. Anyway, good on Schroeder to score 2 in his pro debut! Hope he keeps this up - the Moose certainly could use his skill up front.
  6. Well that didn't take very long Schroeder and Kevin Clark both with their first pro goals and it's 2-0 Moose! Woot!!!
  7. I'll definitely try and catch Schroeder's first game as a Moose. Can't wait till he plays for Manitoba in a couple days!
  8. Well he sure as heck doesn't have to worry about those any more next season if he turns pro!
  9. It's pretty hard to follow a prospect who's playing half the world away. How has Rodin been doing?
  10. From what you're saying, do you think Schroeder will be all motivated again once he hits the AHL? After all, it isn't the NHL, but you still have to learn the pro systems and adjust to the grind of an 80-game schedule.
  11. I was reading that exact same thread too on that forum. I was wondering where there could be a Gophers hockey forum online . Reading what those people posted actually gives quite a bit of insight on Schroeder; I found it very interesting. Hopefully Arniel can get his work ethic back in order, or he really will be benched, maybe even for the first time in his career ever.
  12. It definitely feels strange, because I remember hoping the Gophers would do well and go far in the tourney, but that was when Patrick White was still a Canucks prospect and Jordan Schroeder was almost an oddity , an 18-year old rookie leading his team in scoring and eligible for the upcoming draft, somebody whose stats I had looked up but had not paid much attention to at that point in time. Gopher's season is now over, losing 4-1 to North Dakota. Now comes the interesting part. Hopefully Schroeder leaves the U of M for the Moose!
  13. Gophers down 3-1 with about 8 mins to go in the 3rd... is this it? Is this the end of Jordan Schroeder's college hockey career?
  14. U of M down 2-1 at the 2nd intermission... Oh, the 3rd period has just started!
  15. Hopefully indeed - what his father said back in the summer in that interview about staying one more year at school and then getting ready for pro hockey is definitely encouraging, to say the least.
  16. Wow I really don't know whether to cheer for the Gophers or not. I mean, on the one hand I want Schroeder to lead his team deep into the NCAA playoff tournament and dominate, but on the other hand I'd love to see him suit up for the Moose as well although his confidence might take a hit if his college team gets bounced early.
  17. Hopefully, but I wouldn't be so sure, since Hodgson and Schroeder may be joining the Moose as well at the end of their seasons. I want to see how well Rai does though. Even if he gets included on their roster he might not even play, but instead just learn the ropes and how to be a professional.
  18. Anyway, if Jordan Schroeder does leave school (and what his dad said in that interview does seem to suggest it), it'd be a real shot in the arm for the Moose. All of a sudden they'd go from lacking real offensive talent to having guys like Hodgson and Schroeder together. Having such a tantalizing combination of Shirokov, Grabner, Hodgson and Schroeder in their Top 6 would give them all sorts of weapons at their disposal. If they all get that opportunity to play together, get ready to drool Canucks and Moose fans!
  19. Can you suggest why the development at the U of M has not been as good in recent years? They used to have some pretty good players come out of there, but players like Patrick White, Brian Schack and even David Fischer (another first-round pick) have not really taken a significant further step year after year. What is up with this lack of development at the U of M? It's real disappointing, and apparently some people want the coach to go, or at least be "asked" to step down. You seem to be a knowledgeable person regarding the Gophers, Zamboni - do the players get much practice/workout time at all? Do they get to work on individual skills and receive dietary/nutritional training, things like that?
  20. Schroeder with 1 goal, +1, 4 shots on goal. Fredheim on the hand was held pointless, 1 shot on goal and a -3. On the ice for all 3 goals against, ouch.
  21. That really does make me wonder: in 2008, in that first month or so that Mike Gillis was GM, who would make the call as to who the Canucks drafted? I mean, the guy's just been named GM and has been on the job for 6 weeks. Ron Delorme and the scouting personnel? Or would Gillis be able to pick up on all the info that they had accumulated over the past year or so in that amount of time? Dave Nonis would've known all about the players that they were scouting due to the constant reports and feedback from his staff. 'Cos I seriously doubt Nonis would've taken the time to tell him who he would draft had he not been fired... In that '08 draft, would Gillis or the scouts have had the final say?
  22. So with 2 goals tonight, I believe Burrows has set a franchise record for goals in the month of January with 15! Go Burrows!!!
  23. Good to see Rodin finally playing meaningful minutes in the SEL.
